  1. The biggest question I have is what number do these people have that they are calling? I can't call my bank a block away without being on 20 minutes worth of menus and hold times just to have a guy named "Bob" from Bangalore finally pick up the phone. And, these people are calling on Sunday afternoons and getting somebody answering "Hello, PGA" or "Hello, CBS" and they are actually getting to the decision makers??
  2. So, Faldo was about the signed scorecard then?
  3. So, I'm still not understanding this. Do the NIck Faldos of the world who think he should have withdrawn - do they think he intentionally cheated? If he did, why would he say what he did in the press conference? If they think he should withdraw because of the signed scorecard, that is just stupid.
  4. biddingfortravel.com may be even better for info - but it is run by an insane Nazi.
  5. Should the Sabres Suck for Luck at this point? I have no idea what type of players are available in the draft. But, I did read up on the lottery and only the bottom five finishers have a chance at the number one pick. Seems better to lose out for the most part and get into that bottom five.
  6. Because he signed a scorecard that was eventually found wrong or is a DQ to take an advantageous drop? I just read two articles on this and still don't totally understand it.
  7. This is actually good news to me. When I read the subject line I was like "Damn, I think is the thing that made Derrick Burroughs retire"
  8. I always figured it was illlegal, but like fireworks on the 4th of July, no cop is going to bust anybody on game day. I know in college, I got plenty of court time for open container violations.
  9. This is the place that I started out - it was about 20 years ago, and this was about the only yoga place in town, but now they are all over: http://www.hibuffalo.org/ I love this one, but it probably wouldn't be where Howard Stern would go because it's pretty spiritual, and he's an atheist.........But, it'll still work no matter what you believe in.
  10. I never "got him" for some reason. And, I know he was loved by other comedians. I'm pretty sure Johnny Carson loved him - and I was a huge Carson through the 70s. Something about him depressed me.
  11. Taxi was a good show that I know I watched a bunch of times in the 70s, but you could have played that song and said I'd win $1B if I came up with what it was and I would have no idea it was the theme from Taxi.............That is just weird, because I would think that I remembered the theme songs from anything that I've watched a bunch of times.
  12. Man, my knees are jealous of your knees. Whenever I've tried that, they scream!
  13. It IS impressive that they can all that and yet have only one national championship! (Sorry my Bona fandom jealousy just took over). I didn't know all that. Bona actually had at least 25 winning seasons in a row, all though the time I graduated. And, the year after I graduated, they had their first losing one............Of course, that's the least impressive out of those four things, as you can feast on early season chumps. But, to answer your question, I think it is a matter of national championships to determine those blue bloods. Indiana might not have one in quite a while but they had them starting in the 40s. Kansas is pretty much where it all got started.
  14. I'm probably not even going to remember them all, but it truly was like taking a showing for your mind. As it was described to me by somebody, it's like your mind goes into it like a swarm of bees of a stampede of bulls (I forget what they used as the metaphor) and you come out of it with the mind floating like a butterfly. I've heard Howard Stern, who has been doing it for at least 30 years I think, describe it as a shower for the mind. It was so much like that that I would be able to just go to sleep and not have those same rambling thoughts churn through my brain................I remember when my friend complaining about how he couldn't sleep last night - he kept thinking about a new possible job and this and that, and I thought Oh, yeah - I remember that. Now I meditate. Another thing is that it takes away the hard edges of anxiety. I am very high strung and can get painful anxiety. But, it really takes the edge off to manageability...........And, I guess things that would keep me in a depressed state of mind for a week, then they only lasted a day.............I remember thinking - this feels like I'm cheating in life. I'm not suffering anymore! I know it's not Howard Stern's thing, but I definitely felt way closer to God. Yoga is basically a joining together with God. The philosophy is that there is one universal consciousness, that we all tap into.............This came true in some really wild ways. I remember occasions where there was major strife in the office. I said this and he said that, and we couldn't agree on anything, yada...............And, then without thinking about all of a sudden that scenario came in front of me, and I could see where the disconnect was, even though physically I couldn't see it while it was happening. That was the most extreme, but almost nightly, I would come up with answers to problems, while not thinking about them - which is the point of meditating. Not thinking about anything. That universal consciousness just pops them in your brain with those Eureka moments! You feel physically way better. You know how pot makes everything more intense - all the senses. Well, pot also made me paranoid. This would make the present moment as your living your life more intense and fulfilling. The benefits that you get from learning to concentrate also keep you in the present moment, which also does that. It relaxes the body and the mind. I'll think of more, but that sounds pretty good, huh? I should probably do it right now!
  15. When I was doing it at my best, I always kept my eyes shut. Now sometimes I get frustated and say I'll keep them open and not worry about it............Proper posture definitely helps a lot. That's part of my problem these days - just a bunch of small things wrong with my health called getting old, and not doing the yoga that was a big help.........A lot of people do it with that crossed legged position on the floor, but I never had good posture from that and my legs would always fall asleep, so I meditate in a chair............You basically want to be comfortable but not so comfortable that you're falling asleep.
  16. Yes, I do. Every day....................I used to be way better at it, and need to start doing some yoga before it again. It helps alot now, even as I can't get my mind to steady. But, man, when I was doing it really good - it did amazing things for me!
  17. I'm putting the over/under of new applicants to Stony Brook due to their NIT bid at 1.5.
  18. Good comparison of Pitt and UConn. I don't know if Cuse will be a bigger brand name than UConn post Boeheim, just because I don't know what UConn will be...........But, they will be a big brand name, no doubt. I know it's been forever, but they were a big brand name before he was head coach. The Dave Bing days, the Final Four in the 70s with Jimmy Williams from Buffalo, etc..........UConn was nothing before Calhoun.
  19. No, because nobody has posted a thing in there this whole month.
  20. Awesome! Kareem would fit that part perfectly! "Don't be an ahole to everybody when you're the leading scorer in the league every year. One day, you'll try to be a coach and karma will bite you in the ass. Then, you'll be doing silly diving reality TV shows."
  21. I wonder how many more applicants Florida Gulf Coast is going to get after all the free advertising they just had.
  22. Yeah, UConn is very hard to place. It could just all be a Calhoun thing...............Time just flies so fast. When I was going for my MBA at SU, I went to the UConn game and it was really the first time they were a contender - 89-90. And, I go into the men's room and run into Dick McPherson, who was still the SU football coach. I asked him about a few of the WNY recruits he just signed and then he says about the actual game we were at "UConn?!? Who'd have ever thought this!" Two decades later, and I'm sure most kids think of them as higher than some of those teams we are calling blue chippers.
  23. It is incredible and I hated them as a kid............But, it was easier for them then that it would be today. The seeding system just wasn't the same. Everybody stayed in their regions. I remember them playing Tark's Long Beach State team in the Western Regional finals a couple of times...........But, yeah, once they got the the Final Four, they still had to beat the best teams left.
  24. I love this kind of list. I think there are 6 blue bloods. Who would you leave off?: Kentucky UNC Kansas Duke UCLA Indiana BTW, speaking of Georgetown and it's only championship, they would not have one it without Michael Graham, and he just one a million dollar lottery!: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/wp/2013/04/05/morning-pixels-michael-graham-wins-the-lottery/
