  1. This made me laugh out loud and I am not sure why. I am just picturing what Doug would look like if he snapped. It's not funny yet hilarious at the same time. Okay..I need sleep....
  2. I wouldn't read too much into that. Deciding to cut a guy from the squad or bring a new guy in is a joint decision typically made by both the coach and the GM. So, with as much player turnover as this team has had in the last 2 seasons, it is no wonder that Whaley gets mentioned a lot.
  3. I am not sure if the Bills have done this before or not, but if they have I just noticed it. Near the end of the first half when the teams were going to be heading into the tunnel, there was a large security presence in the stands near the tunnel. Fans were booing of course as they are a miserable lot when the game is that miserable. It struck me that the increased yellow jackets standing there in the stands near the tunnel were there to stop fans from throwing crap at the players or maybe to deter fans from yelling obscenities at the players. I don't recall seeing that heavy security presence in the stands next to the tunnel before. I have been a season ticket holder for a very long time. Maybe I just never noticed it before. Or maybe the Bills are really taking note of how much anger/disappointment (yay even rage) is building up against this team. Funny and sad at the same time.
  4. @OP - Dude you are freaking killing me......Please don't jinx us.......please.....
  5. Here is my take on Thad for right or wrong. I think he was a gamer. The guy's best skill was improvisation. He did that a lot when he played last year because he hadn't been here long enough to really know the playbook and to get coached. So he relied on his natural football instincts and natural athletic instincts which were good enough for him to pull out a couple wins. But this year in camp, he had time to absorb the playbook and had time for the coaches to assess his ability to learn and implement their system. Obviously he couldn't do that. So he was rightfully cut. That is what I think happened. I don't think that was incompetence. They should have cut him. I liked Thad, but he is not a good quarterback. In my opinion of course.
  6. I doubt that is the case, but how funny would it be if that were true? What if that earlier argument the other day was over Whaley telling Marrone that the front office expects Palmer to see some playing time on Thursday. Marrone plays him for a quarter and then says - this guy is so bad - I am going to play him the whole game - Whaley can suck it....(Marrone making secret hand gesture in front of mirror thinking about conversation with Whaley)
  7. Based on tonight's performance the only thing Palmer is going to teach EJ is how to throw interceptions. That is one thing EJ doesn't do a lot of right now. Why would you want that? Get a real backup in here. Palmer isn't the guy. God forbid we ever had to play him. I might rather see them snap the ball directly to one of our running backs.
  8. Well I have to give you the benefit of the doubt because I don't have the video.
  9. So you are telling me that Fred wasn't stretched out to his max on that play. Because that is how I recall it. Can't imagine that I dreamed that up? I know the ball went off his hands but he was really struggling just to get to the ball and there was nobody around him. Unfortunately, I don't have the game recorded.
  10. I listened to the post game interview on the radio as I was driving home from the game.
  11. I wouldn't call his play horrible either. He did make a few standard throws. But when a defense gives you easy opportunities to complete passes like those, you have got to make them. In both cases the receivers were very "open" and it should have been like pitch and catch in practice running simple routes. Good quarterbacks don't miss many of those relatively easy opportunities. Accuracy was definitely a problem tonight. I just recall feeling like it was Ej's fault those drives ended in punts. And that is not encouraging. On the Fred Jackson play, my seats were right in position to see that up close. As I recall it, Fred was completely stretched out to the max reaching for that ball. If he caught it, it would have been a spectacular catch and it shouldn't have been given how wide open he was. the scary thing about that pass is that if a linebacker had been close to Fred or had a head of steam, fred could have been hospitalized on that play. Talk about an open rib shot...Maybe reviewing the pass will prove my recollection wrong, but I think I had a pretty clear view of that play.
  12. During his post game interview tonight, I believe I heard Marrone admit that this team is not very good. I was thinking ...Wow! This guy is being brutally honest. He was saying how the receivers need to make hard catches to help EJ. I think that is an obvious admission that he is not as faithful in EJ's talent as he otherwise pretends to be. Man i don't like how this season is starting to look. Maybe I am reading too much into this......
  13. I don’t know why but for some reason coming into this game I was really optimistic about how EJ would look. He let me down. The good news is that our receivers can get open. The bad news, at least tonight, was that EJ couldn’t get them a catchable ball a few times. EJ had opportunities to look really good tonight. Two plays in particular come to mind. One was a medium deep pass to Woods on a route where Woods had his receiver beat. Woods had his receiver beat enough where he could have turned up field and had a lot of room to run. That could have been a huge play. EJ flat out missed him (led him too much as Woods ran across the field toward the left sideline). We punted. Another play was a short pass to Fred Jackson where Fred would have had a first down. EJ sailed the pass. Fred jumped for it and stretched, but alas the pass was too high. We punted. I believe those were both 3rd down plays that ended EJ’s second and third series on the field. Maybe not though. I thought EJ looked too rough for a starting quarterback. I am officially afraid of what is going to happen in the regular season. And to top it off, he gave the shortest press conference after the game. He said that a couple of guys dropped passes. And he said that his offensive coaches told him that he played well. Then he walked away from the podium. I was like WTF dude? That is all you have to say after that? How about you man up and admit you didn’t get the balls where they needed to be to your open receivers. I thought this guy was a man’s man. After hearing that brief interview, I was thinking that this guy is fooling himself if he thinks that was a good performance. Not very mature at all. Not a sign of great character. Scary…….I am sure glad he typically gets better as the game goes on. Because if he didn’t, the Bills would get blown out of games routinely. First string D played reasonably well. Overall the game sucked and was very difficult to watch. The highlight of the night was a half-hearted attempt at the wave in the stadium during the second half. Fans did a good job considering there were so few there.
  14. Didn't Sammy say something about them being kind of rough in practice or something to that effect? He was saying that they were hitting awfully hard in practice. then he goes and gets hurt a couple times off of relatively minor football contact. Maybe it is a sign and maybe not. I hope he isn't going to be one of those guys though....
  15. I was thinking that too. But don't you keep Tuel over Palmer? At least Tuel knows the playbook right? You gotta keep him until you get someone better. I am not sure that Palmer is better. And Palmer doesn't know the playbook. You guys thought Fitz loved to throw interceptions.......This Palmer guy is pick throwing champ. Yeah I know....not fair,..... it was his 3rd day on the job...dude is 3rd sting for a reason.
  16. That's some funny **** dude. Maybe they did know what they were doing when bringing in Palmer. I wonder what else he can teach this team how to do. If nothing else, maybe him, Brady Quinn and that Peter Pan guy who posts on here can dress up and replace the Buffalo Jills for this season.....
  17. If it wasn't Kelso I might tend to agree with your viewpoint. But Kelso is as straight up honest as they get. Really.. You can take what he says to the bank.
  18. Or you can make someone else the holder like a backup quarterback. I don't think that the "holder" issues factors in too much. Maybe a little bit, but not too much. Holding the ball for a kicker is something that can be taught. And learning how to handle a bad snap is something quarterbacks learn anyway, which is why a backup QB is ideal for that job. So, I doubt the fact that our existing punter is a good holder will be a deal breaker one way or the other.
  19. Are you cool with stopping at a tittybar on the way home? And are you buying when we get there? And will you drive back if I am drunk? And do you have insurance, cuz you can't drive my car unless you have your own insurance? And do you have any hot sisters?
  20. I am a big fan of the hurry up no huddle offense when it works well. I think there is a time and a place for it though. In my opinion the biggest advantage of the hurry up is that when you are executing well, the defense ends up backpedaling on their heels and gives up scores because they don’t have enough time to prepare for the next play. With that in mind, I think the best time to go into a hurry up mode is immediately after a big play. Like any play that goes for more than 20 yards for example. As soon as that happens on offense, I wish the Bills would immediately go into the no huddle. I think that would maximize the overall use of that system while also minimizing the downside of using that format. I don’t like the idea of starting every new possession with a hurry up tempo. I think it is the wrong time for it because you can end up screwing yourself and your defense. Someday a coach is going to get it right and it will change the way new offensive schemes are designed. Agree or disagree?
  21. He might just get a 3rd year by default because of the draft situation as you pointed out. I have a feeling that if the team stinks it up in the regular season and there isn't a change made at quarterback, the natives will want to start tire fires on the fifty yard line during preseason next year. But the point is meaningless because EJ is going to improve and the Bills are going to get better........they gotta.....they will......
  22. So if I understand you right, you are saying that the coaches really can't pick plays to run from the playbook that make sense with any confidence unless they game plan for the team. And it doesn't make sense to game plan for the teams in preseason because it doesn't matter really whether you win or lose. And if you game planned you would end up revealing things you don't want to. Is that kind of what you mean?
  23. Whoh whoh whoh there buddy..... Don't you want to see how he plays in year 2 before anointing him year 3 just yet? He has to show substantial progress this year. Doesn't he? If he doesn't show enough progress, I certainly don't expect them to hope he just might in the 3rd year. I am a season ticket holder. I love my Bills and like to see them invest in future talent. But, geeze man.... I don't want to throw away seasons just hoping and sit through a 3rd season of losses if the guy doesn't look better this year.
  24. Dude, are you a masochist or what? Having the Bucs for a second favorite team has got to be the ultimate in personal cruelty. I bet you drink a lot........lol....
  25. lol.... Yeah but dude, I'm pretty sure you can go back and fix that font thing even after you post it. You have been posting that little font multiple times. I would rather actually read what you have to say so I can decide if I agree with your point or not.
