  1. How is it possible that any person who has watched football for any length of time in their life could watch that Miami game and come away with laying the majority of the blame for that loss on anything other than the Bills inability to stop the run? It is as clear as day. Neither side of the Bills team played well. But the biggest FUBAR by far was the Bills' run defense. It is not even close. You mean to tell me you seriously don't see that?
  2. I think the Patriots will assume the Bills will be bringing plenty of heat against Brady this Sunday. And I expect their gameplan is going to include a whole bunch of slants and screens. So hopefully Rex finds some way to get pressure on Brady - in case he does hold the ball - while also effectively defending the slants and screens. Good luck with that. The only chance I see of the Bills making a game of this is IF and only IF 2 things happen - 1) the Bills run the ball exceptionally well - like close to 300 yards which chews up time of possession a lot and 2) The Bills win the turnover battle by getting at least one key turnover against New England which is very tough. I suppose we could also get lucky on a special teams play, but I am not holding my breath. This Sunday just feels like the Bills are a one legged man heading into an ass-kicking competition.
  3. I don't understand your point? Are you suggesting that an elite runner is more important than a geat offensive line? If that is the case, then we disagree. If your point is simply that the Bills suck when they can't run the ball, then yes I completely agree. It has been proven more than once over the last couple years.
  4. Thanks. Somebody who hates Tyrod finally admits that at least its not about his height. As far as saying he sucks - you would have to qualify that - as in compared to who? Does he suck passing compared to elite passing quarterbacks? On everything but his deep ball - Yes. Does he suck passing compared to average NFL quarterbacks? - Nope. Does he suck at leading a team back late in the fourth quarter when they are losing? - As of right now I guess you would have to say yes. Does he suck at making plays with his feet (like running options) compared to other quarterbacks? Nope - in fact he is elite in this regard compared to all starting NFL quarterbacks Does he suck at avoiding sacks when offensive line breaks down - Nope - He is elite here too. Does his interception ratio suck? Nope. Does he suck at commanding an offense compared to the average NFL quarterback? - No. He doesn't. Does he suck compared to other quarterbacks on the Bills' roster - Nope. He is the best by far. It's not even close. At least he has demonstrated the ability to make big game changing plays both with his feet and passing. And he has done it repeatedly. So yes, he does suck at some things depending on what/who you are comparing him to. But he certainly isn't the complete dumpster fire of suckitude some on here make it seem like.
  5. 1) CB - Glimore is history (assuming best QB is not available - otherwise - QB) 2) OL - start with Right Tackle 3) WR 4) Safety 5) OL - best player available 6) OL - best player available 7) OL - best player available If the holes are there to run through, running backs are a dime a dozen. There are more good running backs available than there is demand for them. And personally, I would be spending money to upgrade the offensive line in free agency where possible. And you might be able to fill your needs at WR and/or Safety in free agency. If you can, great. If not, draft them.
  6. Every pass is harder to make in the NFL. Now you are trying to make a point that passing over the middle is something you have to have a special talent for because it is harder to do in the NFL but other passes aren't. You are just making things up so you don't have to admit you are just flat out wrong. I love it. Keep up the crusade. You just can't let it go can you? Russell Wilson and Drew Brees both disagree with you. And they are both shorter than Tyrod. Or I guess maybe you guys want to believe the height thing ONLY applies to Tyrod for some reason. It is a ridiculous argument. The guy isn't a midget. He's 6' 1" FFS.
  7. College vs. NFL has zero to do with throwing over the middle (specifically) and you know it. You are just making things up because you don't like the guy. It is harder to do everything successfully in the NFL. Why would it be just specifically harder throwing over the middle. Total nonsense and you know it.
  8. For those who say Tyrod can't throw over the middle: I just found this video and it was published way before anybody here was talking about him not being capable/willing to throw over the middle. http://youtu.be/hp7v0gr7RfM Here is a link to watch it on Youtube - https://youtu.be/hp7v0gr7RfM I just wanted to look at some college highlights to see if that was a consistency throughout his career. I don't think he had one single sideline pass in this highlights video. They were ALL in the middle of the field. So you tell me why he isn't using the middle of the field as much now as he was then? Is it really because he is incapable of doing it? I doubt it. This question needs to be addressed with Rex and Lynn. I really doubt it is Tyrod being scared to throw over the middle or Tyrod not being able to see over the middle. This video debunks those myths.
  9. This is a way underappreciated part of Tyrod's strength in my opinion. Can you imagine how many times a guy like EJ or Kyle Orton would be sacked if they were leading this team instead of Tyrod? If that was the case, you would see a lot of people on here screaming about how horrible the offensive line is. But every time Tyrod avoids a sack, which is quite often in games, people forget that the play could have been a total disaster with a less mobile qb in there. People forget how many times the offensive line screws up. It is much lesser factor because Tyrod avoids more of those sacks than he takes. Granted if you have a guy like Brady or Rogers or Rivers who can get rid of the ball accurately within 2 seconds, then pass protection isn't a big concern. But we don't have those guys and we aren't likely to get one anytime soon. I just can't fathom how much worse this offense would look with another EJ in there or another wannabe rookie. And those are your options folks. Until the Bills draft another above average talented quarterback you simply aren't going to find better than what we have. It sure as hell ain't perfect. But man it is better than we have had since Bledsoe.
  10. But it was a 20 yard gain or thereabouts. No way Clay scores on that play. He doesn't have the breakaway speed to outrun that safety. You are being awful nitpicky. Completing a 20 yard pass isn't good enough for you. Taylor is never going to become Tom Brady/Dan Marino. Get over it. You obviously have your mind made up about Tyrod and how much you hate him. Carry on...
  11. You obviously put a lot of time into that Bocephuz. Thanks for the effort. Nice summary. I noticed opportunities for shovel passes that look like they would have worked extremely well. Those are also a useful way to attack a strong pass rush depending on where the pressure is coming from. Thurman Thomas made a lot of hay from them back in the day.
  12. Some guys treat their job with the attitude "I want to be the best I can possibly be at my job" So they put in a tremendous amount of extra time and effort in their own time at getting better at it. Some guys treat their job with the attitude "I am going to do as little work as I possibly have to just to collect my paycheck" Which category do you think Dareus falls into? (rhetorical question)
  13. But wasn't a nickel really a quarter anyway? It was in my day.
  14. How does that skew the numbers? Aren't they both Patriots? Every team would have lower fumbles if you just disregarded the guys who fumbled...lol Don't be a denier just because you are a fan. You know the Patriots organization - (well the Bill B led Patriots organization anyway) has a history of cheating. Denying it makes you look unreasonable. Man up.
  15. Even if all those guys play, none of those guys are going to be 100% which is what you will need out of all of them to beat the Patriots. You would need all 3 of them to have great games. I don't see that happening. I will be completely shocked if it does. Best case scenario for the Bills is if Brady gets the clap from the ball boy and he is so ill that he has an off day on Sunday.
  16. I don't know how you couldn't be shocked if the BIlls won this Sunday. It would be an upset of epic proportions. Look how many starters the Bills are missing. And the Patriots have the best team they have had in years. Patriots have to be everyone's favorite to win the AFC. They will have home field advantage in the playoffs again. They are THE team to beat in the NFL right now. How could you not be shocked if the Bills pulled out an upset with their beat up squad? I presume and I think most Bills fans expect the Bills will lose to the Patriots in the same fashion as Cleveland did. If the Bills pulled out a victory it would be downright epic.
  17. Yeah, I think at this point Goodwin has proven himself too brittle for the NFL. He can be a very useful tool in an offense with someone like Tyrod who can get him the long ball. But unfortunately, if you use Goodwin, you are bound to eventually break him. He needs to be a number 4 or number 5 receiver used in specific situations only. Or just use him to return kicks/punts.
  18. So would I. You have a way better chance at beating the Patriots in a ground game than you do allowing them to pass as usual. Keep the score low - then anything can happen.
  19. Have we tried the 7 DB defense against the Patriots yet? I say, let the Patriots try to beat you in a ground game. Maybe they still win. But they won't be scoring 40. Here is my plan - Play extra DB's in place of linebackers. Blitz one man through alternating A gaps on passing situations. Keep the d-line home to stop the run and screens instead of pressuring in backfield. Then pull a Greg Williams and tell the secondary to tackle with wreckless abandon - personal foul penalties be damned. Bring the wood. Even if we don't come away from there with a win at least the Bills will leave with a feeling of pride. And the Patriots receivers all leave the field bloodied wondering how they are ever going to physically last the rest of the season.
  20. IF the Bills had all their starters healthy, then this would be a fun game to look forward to. With so many starters out, the Bills are living on a prayer. Could the Bills still beat the Patriots - of course. That is why they play the game. Is it likely - nope. Extremely unlikely. If A. Williams is out, which I assume he will be, the Bills will need to score 40 + to win this one. I have no faith that they will be able to do that against the Patriots defense. The main thing I will be looking forward to this Sunday is the tailgating pre-game.
  21. He is pissed. Everyone quit on him and lost all faith in him. He still gives his all even if all he gives isn't good enough.
  22. I think the Bills coaching staff knew Miami was going to come in trying to stop the run anyway. After all, that is the Bills' strength. If you take that away from them, the Bills are a pretty bad offense. And I think the Bills coaching staff (thinking that they are more important than the players once again) made the decision that they would try to change the offense to be something it isn't just for this game. They tried to win the game through creative coaching rather than trying to let the offensive line do what they are best at - which is push other people around. The Bills should have been pounding the fins religiously and relentlessly with Mike G trying to setup the unexpected big play to Goodwin, Hunter or one of the Tight ends.
  23. I thought you knew what he said and that you were going to tell us... I thought it was going to be like a knock knock joke. You ask us something we don't know...then you tell us the punch line... Now I have to go through the rest of my life never knowing what was said. Great. Thanks a lot. No soup for you.
  24. Good god. Some people are actually defending the OP's train of thought here. Hate to break it to you guys - The goal of the offense is to score on every single play that they can. The goal of the offense is not to play defense. Dick Jauron would love you guys. Think about your logic. If you are ever given an opportunity to score or run a play on offense that you think is likely of scoring - you run it especially on first or second down. You do that because scoring always trumps time of possession except at the very end of the game in a very close game where you have the opportunity to run the clock out. Otherwise you are always better off scoring. The whole idea of blaming the offense of scoring too fast is utterly ridiculous.
  25. No matter how bad you want to trade him, SD is never going to trade Rivers for Dareus. Ain't gonna happen. Even if you offered Dareus and your next first round pick, they still say no. They say no because good passing quarterbacks don't grow on trees. They have one already. They aren't giving him up.
