  1. In 2015 he had a brutal camp. Everyone( fans) wanted him gone but the Panthers had no option after losing K. Benjamin.

During that season he came through. The Panthers O featured a lot of deeper routes. My recollection is him catching deep digs where he found holes in zones, flys and deep crossing routes. Yes, he did go after the ball but Cam often throws high so receivers have to.

The whole team that year had " IT", until the SB.

Last year he did nothing which is how he is thought of here. He couldn't catch a cold. Without checking I bet he caught only half the balls thrown his way, some of that is on Cam but No one here is unhappy or even cares that he is gone.

Tolbert is a character guy so I get that signing, not this one though.

In one year the Browns have accumulated a draft stockpile well beyond anything the NFL has seen since perhaps the Hershal Walker trade, or the Ricky Williams trade. They've used their stockpile of cap space (as well as the talent they already had) to build 4/5ths of what should be a very good offensive line, they have the basis for a good receiving corps, and adding Garrett as well as the Collins move last year puts them in position to have a strong front 7 defensively.

The simple truth is this organization likely would be in MUCH better shape long term if they rolled all our cap space over this offseason, accumulated the comp picks from letting Gilmore / Woods / Brown / Goodwin / Alexander etc walk and traded any of Shady, Graham, Kyle, Preston Brown, Richie, Wood etc that would have value, before rolling pick #10 back to accumulate as much future draft capital we could. We'd very likely be very bad this year, but the basis of a foundation is there with Sammy / Glenn / Miller / Dareus / Lawson / Hughes / Ragland / Darby and a few of the younger guys we don't know much about yet that it wouldn't take long to get back into our current position only with a MUCH brighter outlook on our future, a full season of seeing if we can find any gems out of later round picks / UDFAs, perhaps Darnold to really build around, a mountain of cap space and a pile of draft picks.

However, we do not have that long term outlook as we keep sacrificing future value to push the 8th or 9th most talented team in the AFC into one of the two wild card spots. How anyone thinks that's the best long term move for this franchise is beyond me.

Couldn't agree more. However, when we are 3-8 there will be threads swearing up and down we still have a chance😳

I don't see a long term plan. I see McD thinking he has the coaching acumen to do it but not sure I'm buying what he's selling.

  3. Apparently, those of us who don't like this are dumb for thinking his inability to produce in clutch time is a problem.

    The D sucked? YES!!!

The D is not going to be that much better this year due to it being new; It will take half a season minimum(!!!) for the players to be comfortable, probably more.

Also, we have some serious holes on that side of the ball.

Head coaches have a learning curve too. R.Rivera took four years to figure it out . MickeyD is not coming in here a finished product.

IMO ten is too high to draft whoever is left but unfortunately the QBs get over valued every year. I'd like to trade back and get more pick and get a QB later in the first but don't see them doing this.

  4. HATE, HATE,HATE this!!!!

If they don't draft a QB this year, which they shouldn't at 10, they will finish too high next year to get one.

I know many hate to hear it but this year is a rebuilding year.

New O, new D and new ST means we aren't doing jack. Might as well bite the bullet BUT NOOOO ," Lets bring TT back. He gives us a chance to win. "

He doesn't give us a chance to win anything worthwhile!!!!

New HC just screwed himself and us for a few more years.

  5. Regarding Bledsoe, he SUCKED his last year here. The receivers were relegated to running short dig routes because he couldn't hit anything else.

We are not going to the SB with TT and KW is never going to see a SB here and probably not a playoff.

I've watched McDermott here ( Carolina) since he started and I don't hate him but his defenses aren't all that.

This is a rebuilding year and I'd rather see a young QB learn on the fly than Orton or Taylor keep us mediocre.

  6. So, seeing a QB that has demonstrated an inability to :

    read defenses.

    See open receivers

Come from behind or even offer any semblance of hope that we could, in pressure situations

    Is stupidity.

Jumping to the immediate conclusion that a team with a defense in transition and a new coaching staff is tanking because they might agree with the above observations?

And ,being CERTAIN that starting Cardale assures the offense no production is smart?

I guess those of us who realized the season was over 8 games in last year were also stupid?

How about 11 games in when we weren't buying the" We can still make the playoffs." Threads?

Man, I wish I could be that smart😜

  7.

You are suggesting that the Bills are hiding what an awesome player Cardale really is. What did they do, tell him to go out in that Jets game and play well below his true talent level so that nobody knows how good he really is?

Whaley is playing peek a boo with the rest of the NFL?

We were told a lot of things such as we are " going to build s bully" and Rex though TT was the second coming.

How'd those turn out for us?

  8. Brady is a perfect example as ostensibly the greatest NFL coach ever( debatable, I know) didn't even know what he had.

I'm not suggesting Cardale is going to be great but we dimply don't know and he clearly demonstrated the " it" factor at times this Pres season.

Also, Brees was bad I. His second and third seasons. Bad!!! He had to play through it to figure the game out.

  9. Here's a little story about a " project". EJ starting 10 games in 2013 and winning 4.

Jones is at least on par with that,

How about Brady sitting behind Bledsoe? Belicheat would have started him that season if he knew but he didn't.

They drafted Rivers after Brees sucked for three years..... but look what he became.

You don't know sometimes until you do

  10. May I point out C.Jones started late in the third quarter of an, already lost game on a team that had mailed it in.

I'm not saying he looked good but basing your perception of him on :

    - That game

    - The opinion of the previous coaching staff ,is silly.

I don't know who he is or can be but I think his ceiling is much higher than TT and on the job training is how the starters in this league learn.

  11. What is the difference between Kelly going 4-12 his first year and Jones doing it next year?

If he isn't the andswer and there is no hope in him becoming the answer or not, we know and have a shot the following season.

This is not a playoff caliber team and with a new staff and new systems on both sides of the ball it is a start from scratch proposition.

Cut the dead weight. See which dogs can hunt and set yourself up for 2018's draft.

  12. Completely unknown quantity..... to us.

Hope Micky D knows something we don't.

Shula has never gotten a lot of love here, even last year when his O led the league and carried team to SB missing their # 1 receiver KB.

Shula didn't seem to get ANY looks this year.

Regarding Cam, I would say they have taken pains not to " over coach " him as he is a unique talent. He regressed badly this year which may have been on Dorsey or maybe Cam just got to full of himself and stopped listening.... which would partially explain Dorsey wanting to move.

Personally not excited about this pick if it happens but don't hate it either. Feels like it could work or be typical BB dreck.
