His concussion history (five since 2020, I believe) would make him relatively cheap in trade. You don’t often find a WR of his caliber (when healthy) available at the kind of discount he’d warrant at this point. I do not think he’s a great fit for the Bills because of that uncertainty, but he’d be the best WR on the team if we did acquire him. As long as he stayed healthy, that is. Now, if I were a team that is rebuilding I’d definitely take a shot at him so long as the trade compensation is as reasonable as I think it would be. This is year 4 of his rookie deal so a decision has to be made soon on his 5th year option. That’ll probably be about $15M. So that factors into it too. Is your team willing to take that risk? One last thing - I don’t know Olave’s feelings, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he wanted to move on. Carr is not the QB that I’d want to have throwing me the ball if I was worried about taking unnecessary hits.

Yeah. If Carr can’t go this season then NO may change their mind on trading Olave. Might as well tank properly.

Yep. 100% true. The league has a habit of making an example out of one person or team - usually the worst offender in a situation. That’s why the Saints were the only team to be punished for bounties. Hammering Watson - and by extension the Browns - was enough good PR for the league. Goodell made sure that the suspension ruined the season for the Browns, but did not toll Watson’s contract. If no team would have traded for Watson, then the Texans would’ve gotten punished.

True. Me too. But you never know how someone will react to that kind of public humiliation and hate. Some can be Ray Lewis and use it for fuel. Others fold or become a shell of their former selves. There was just too much risk to give those picks AND a fully guaranteed contract. The other teams were not willing to do that. Those teams also were savvy enough to require Watson to settle all outstanding cases before completing the trade. One trade fell through due to a couple holdouts on the settlement. The Browns weren’t so smart. They also misjudged how hard Goodell was going to punish him.

The year Watson sat out as a Texan was due to an agreement with the team to do so. They didn’t want him to play - and neither did the league. That all said, your point about him missing so much time clearly hurt his performance on the field. He was not up to date on widespread defensive changes. He also was operating under incredible pressure due to his contract and the very well-deserved public humiliation and vitriol. Not to overstate the obvious, but it was incredibly stupid of the Browns to give that kind of person in that situation that contract. They’ve deservedly paid the price for it. The Texans did a fantastic job of finding a sucker to pay a ransom to take Watson off their hands.

I was a good all around athlete, but am abysmal at racquetball. Way back in college I had a roommate that liked sports and we’d go play different ones. I was always noticeably better than him. Then he asked me to go play racquetball. I told him “Sure, but I suck at it.” He gave me a “whatever” look and we went to play. About ten minutes into the game he was serving and just started laughing. He turned around and just said “Oh my god! You weren’t kidding! I thought you were screwing with me.”

I learned euchre at Ohio State. We have friends here in Buffalo we play with. Grew up in Cleveland and moved back after about 10 years post college. If anyone there knew how to play it was probably because they went to Ohio State. Growing up I learned a lot of card games, but not euchre.

This just shows that one reason a team might be investing a lot into a position is because they’ve missed a lot on players at that position. Also it’s a good idea to hold onto your good players. Denver traded away their best WR in Jeudy, whom they took 15th overall, for a 5th and a 6th round pick.

It’s a combination of his limited upside and character issues. It’s not like he could be a difference maker. If everything goes great, then we wind up with a solid starting CB for 2025. Then in 2026 we would be in a position where we’d have to decide between paying him as such or moving on anyway. If things don’t go well, then we could be in bad shape at CB while trying to compete for a championship. No thank you.

Exactly. He’s a guy a team that’s rebuilding could take a chance on, but too much would be riding on him for a team like the Bills. Last season we carried 4 outside CBs. Even if we carry 5 CBs this season - with Codrington the 5th as well as return duties - that doesn’t leave any room for a reclamation project. Barring injury, Benford, Jackson and Ingram will make the 53 along with a rookie. Why muddy those waters for a guy that you can’t count on and will likely cause problems and distractions? It would be a Bush League move to add someone like that.

There are two blue chip prospects in this draft, three if you want to include Ward (though I wouldn’t). Cleveland and the Giants are going to draft them unless a team gets crazy with their trade offer.

Thanks. I’ll remember that. I have gone to a few other UB games (various sports) over the years - and a bunch of shows at the Arts Center. I live less than 4 miles from there so it’s incredibly convenient. I just wish the football games were more exciting. They’ve been pretty dead when I’ve gone, but I did get to see Khalil Mack play live.

I agree. I don’t think moving up to the 2nd round with our 4th & 5th round picks is realistic, but a trade back from 30 is - depending on who is on the board. I’d also rather move up in the first though. but if we did move back from 30 with, say Indy, then a reasonable trade would be 45 & 80 for 30 & 170. I don’t think that it would be worth coming up from 80 into the 2nd, but we could probably pull it off if we really wanted to do it.

Agree on Bond. Similar to last year’s Jermaine Burton, I’m touching him in round 2 due to character concerns. Round 4 (or even late 3rd if we had a pick there) is a different story if he checked out okay on the visit, but not this soon. Burch looks like the only other player of the four left that might develop into a starter so I went with him.

Was there tonight. It was a great comeback win. They got hot enough at the end to make it happen. The crowd was really into it in the 4th. Crazy that we got 4 tickets, all in, for $58 total.

Josh Dobbs is already QB2 there. I’d have wanted more to move Milton. Maybe Vrabel is doing the kid a solid by trading him to where he can be QB2 and possibly get on the field. Or maybe he knows the kid isn’t QB2 material and just wanted to get something for him.

I guess you have to ask Beane and McDermott that. A team can bring in a guy like that and ask some tough questions. Find out if he lies and deflects or is honest and takes accountability. It’s something at least. I don’t think you can spend any pick on a player like that if he doesn’t pass that test. If he does, then you figure out at what point he’s draftable and go from there.
