We Should Pick Up the Option on Tyrod No Matter What

I'm not in Twitter so I can't see PFF's approach. If you can, please post or link their metrics on this. -
Rapoport: Expect off-season trade talks around Brandin Cooks
BarleyNY replied to JM57's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Antonio Brown is 5'10". Two seasons ago he led the league in receiving. Last season he was 2nd. This season he's currently 3rd. T.Y. Hilton is 5'9" and sits at 5th. Taller is better (in general), but short WRs can be outstanding as well. -
We Should Pick Up the Option on Tyrod No Matter What
BarleyNY replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's a lot that can lead to a QB being under pressure. It could be any or all of the following:- poor blocking - QB holding onto ball too long - receivers failing to get open - QB failing to find open receivers - defenses blitzing more often because QB does poorly when blitzed/under pressure - scheme/playcalling, especially long developing pass plays -
#1 Pick Calculator: We can still get it!!

For non-playoff teams draft position is based on record. The tiebreaker for teams with identical records is strength of schedule. If SOS is identical a coin flip determines order. Head to head games and games against common opponents do not factor into draft order. -
We Should Pick Up the Option on Tyrod No Matter What

His 2018 salary of $13M also guarantees on the 3rd league day of the 2017 season. That's $40.5M total in guarantees. If his option is picked up it effectively makes him a Bill for 2017 & 2018 at an average rate of $20.25M/season. I'm still on board with picking up his option. It's doubtful a better option will present itself and $20M a season is pretty much in line with what starters get. It will give Rex a viable starting QB in the near term and give the Bills FO 2+ seasons to find and bring along an upgrade, if that's needed. -
Sammy Watkins did not practice due to sore foot
BarleyNY replied to 16-0's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That jibes with what I remember reading when Watkins was held out of OTAs and TC. IIRC the word was that only the fractures that were not expected to heal on their own were surgically repaired. One that was expected to fully heal on its own was still giving him issues. It makes sense that it could be a pain issue rather than the break not healing at all or refracturing. -
I can't believe any fan of any team wants Cutler. He's possesses every negative quality of a gunslinging QB without any of the positive traits. He's never seemed to care about the teams he's been on. Or his teammates. Or the fans. His only redeeming feature is that he's not Johnny Manziel.

Sammy Watkins did not practice due to sore foot

I'm really not splitting hairs at all. The assertion was that Atlanta had given up way more than the Bills in their trades for Jones and Watkins. It's not really close and it's in the other direction. I'd much rather have given up the picks Atlanta did rather than the picks we gave up because Atlanta gave up significantly less value than we did. It's kinda silly to just count picks and not look at where those picks fell. -

That's not correct. I added draft pick values from the standard chart to the current season picks above. The Bills ended up giving more value than Atlanta in the future picks, but it's close and it would be fair to assume values at the time of trade were equal so I won't quibble about that. The Bills gave up 1350 points plus a future 1st and 4th for Watkins. Atlanta gave up 998 points plus a future 1st and 4th for Jones. Buffalo gave up much more value, the equivalent of the 55th overall pick to be precise. -

Just gotta take issue with Atlanta giving up "far more" for Jones than Buffalo gave up for Watkins. Atlanta gave up more picks, but they were picking much later in their rounds. -
Week 13 Predictions: Bills at Raiders
BarleyNY replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I keep flip flopping on this. I love the matchup of the Bills DL vs the Raiders OL, but I also think Mack is going to have his way with Miller. The Bills continue to rely on big plays to generate much of their offense and that's always risky. Then there is the question of the health of some of the Bills key players. And they're playing in Oakland. A win is possible, but I'm going to have to go with: Oakland 31 Buffalo 24 -
Sure, some teams do get help every year. But obviously it's better to control one's own destiny. And in this particular year it's highly unlikely that a 10-6 Bills team would get enough help to get into the playoffs this season.
-
Yup and yup. 11-5 gets us in. 10-6 and we need a lot of help. I honestly don't see more than 9 wins happening, but while there's still a chance I'm rooting for it - one game at a time.

We are witnessing the slow decay of Charles Clay
BarleyNY replied to BringBackOrton's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It has to be so much tougher for shorter QBs to see the middle of the field. Some can develop other traits to mitigate their height disadvantage, but I don't see that happening with TT yet. He seems to be the same QB this year as he was last year so I'm more and more certain that what we've seen is what we're going to get with him. I looked at the NFL.com's scouting report on him. It still seems spot on: http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/tyrod-taylor?id=2495240 -

Nope. Too much money has already been paid to him. The unaccounted for amount accelerates if he's cut or traded. The structure was terrible from the team's standpoint. The Bills could get out, but it'd hurt. The (relatively) good news is that it'll hurt less and less after each season. -
Cardale watches OSU/MICH in full uniform
BarleyNY replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
2) There were a lot of pretty bad holds not called on the scUM OL. I certainly recognize that tOSU didn't get called for some too, including a pretty bad one on third down in the first quarter where the DB grabbed a WR's arm. Overall it seemed even though. You should rewatch the winning run. No way was there a single hold on that play. 3 defensive players overran the play, which is why the cutback lane was so wide open. 3) tOSU definitely has some big issues on offense. Some are Barrett's issues finding open receivers and some are due to WRs who aren't getting separation and are dropping passes. Play calling can be pretty bad at times too. It was at times today. But at the end of regulation and in OT Meyer did outcoach Harbaugh. Meyer and his players kept their composure while Harbaugh and his players didn't. -

BarleyNY replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Incorrect. The ball certainly appeared to make the line. The game was called well overall by the officials, but some calls were definitely missed on both sides. Yet only one team collectively acted like spoiled brats all day. Jim Harbaugh whined and screamed for calls all game. His players whined and screamed for calls all game. That team definitely has taken on the personality of its HC. It was disgraceful. -
Notably, Harrison was one of the other athletes mentioned by the Al Jazeera report that implicated Manning.

John Madden Is Not a Fan of TNF
BarleyNY replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think they want to do that to high school football. HS, college and the NFL try to keep peace by keeping to their own time frames and they each make the process of players moving up through the ranks smooth. I'm with Madden on TNF. The NFL is oversaturating the public with its product and its showing in ratings. They pushed it to make more money and its biting them. There found their limit. -
The game we should win that we lose!
BarleyNY replied to BILLS55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rex would have to lose the locker room. Once the majority of important players turn on a coach and that coach can't be effective, it's over. Rex and his crew would have to do a very poor job the rest of the way out and the team would have lose out (or come close to that) to lose the locker room. So it's possible, but highly unlikely. We are probably saddled with him for another year beyond this one. Just being realistic. -
Hope Whaley is scouting this kid
BarleyNY replied to Bubba Gump's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, if Whaley is personally scouting a high school junior then he needs to be sent packing today. I'm betting Whaley is going to let this kid's career move along a bit before spending any time on him. That'd be the rational thing to do. -

BarleyNY replied to BILLS55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No way. I honestly don't think it'll happen, but even a loss to the Browns wouldn't end Rex or Whaley. 8-8 or thereabouts in the second year of Rex's regime doesn't get him sent packing. Also I firmly believe that Whaley stays or goes with Rex. Pegs synchronized their contracts to this end.
