This post and the next few need to be explained because it seems you are stating that the reason Chicago is an outlier in gun violence is caused by people who are in the normal range. This line of thought is not an obvious connection so I am curious where you are going with it.

My first thought is unfortunately that these are simply runaways and the families are trying to cash in by setting up a go fund me. If that is not the case this needs to have the highest priority for the city, county and state.

I have multiple trans students almost every year I have taught and they are all nice kids but all of them are mentally ill and it should not be encouraged. Your thinking their existence is an issue puts you about 12 years behind the curve, very few were offended they existed, but when they are celebrated for not accomplishing anything except that they had a surgery it is bad.

This is not wrong, I made a mistake this year of trying to be "reasonable" about cell phones, which was fine until after Thanksgiving when kids started pushing it. Trying to wrangle them back from there was much worse than if I had simply been zero tolerance from the begining. Most of student in summer school are ones I emailed parents about phones and nothing changed.

Back to actual education information, tomorrow I start summer school, kids start Monday and I had far more kids than prior years fail my class. Every single student who failed had at least 25 absences with many having 40+, or more than once a week. I will state I did not get any emails asking why the kid failed but the amount of parents that seem to have stopped parenting after COVID is mind blowing.

I would invite the kid and do everything I could to help them overcome being born in such a manner and situation. Treating the child as a problem is horrendous and despicable.

I am a teacher and I am aware of the fact that many people either believe in straight bible or straight evolution, I though have not met anyone who believes Dinosaurs were alive during humanity, at least to my knowledge. That is not true, drugs are a definite problem in the suburbs also. Poverty plays a role but the overlap of poverty and crime is certainly not the highest R factor for causation. What is the biggest overlap?

You do realize that my neighborhood has had zero invasions in 20 years partially due to the fact that it is assumed everyone in my neighborhood has guns to protect themselves? Criminals don't go after people who will fight back and kill them, therefore no one comes near my house.
