DeSantis For President in 2024?
Orlando Buffalo replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The biggest reason that some of the them are leaving is that home insurance is a slow gainer and fast loser in Florida, if you are not writing auto insurance in the state there is not much room for a sustained profit. Secondly the state does require insurance companies to cover certain numbers in each risk pool and the individual companies might not think the investment is worth it. There unfortunately is not an easy answer since the state has exploded in cost over the past two years and the new laws will likely take two years to settle the litigation side down. I am glad I love in Orlando and these issues are lesser than coastal areas. -

Weird I just paid mine about 10 days ago and it is up only about 40% since 2016, or right about in line with inflation. I am sure insurance is very expensive for people who have million dollar homes along the coastal areas. Insurance in FL will always be expensive because we get hurricanes but I do find your numbers interesting since my home insurance is below the national average but my home value is above the national average -

https://www.orlandosentinel.com/2023/07/25/florida-history-slavery-benefits-desantis-maxwell/? This guy is a liar of the highest regard and I once argued with him back and forth by email after he referred to my school as a "piece of poop". When he responded he initially claimed that the teachers at my school supported him, and when I asked him who he pretended that he was protecting them. Upon stating I worked at my school and I had asked most of the faculty what they thought, not one agreed with him, at which point he wrote I was harassing him and he would respond to me anymore. This article keeps up his tradition of lies. -
Actually I meant in the " if you can afford to teach you should" way. I made 20k more in 2004 then I do as a teacher now but I simplified a little and I have a pretty sweet life, only issue is inflation is starting to eat away at my plan. I thought would be screwed financially if I had not bought my home in 2003.

We in Orange County just guaranteed free lunch to every student in every school everyday. I know this sounds great but it is going to be a horrible waste of money because we will have to prepare each day as if children will eat lunches they will not eat. The summer school meals were a joke, pizza, french fries, fruit cups, chicken nuggets were each almost every other day. Kids would take the "fresh" fruit and not eat it because of the quality but had to take it because of federal rules. I am ok with feeding kids but the current meals are atrocious and not healthy.

Teaching is a good gig if you can get by on the pay.

Listen nerd, you might be proud of yourself but you had best start worrying about the feelings of those who drank their way through college and did not have any scholarship offers to grad school, like me.

Bought your way in, huh? 😊

Where did the 3:1 number come from? I am honestly trying to figure that part out, I said 10:1 based on the overall numbers and you called me an idiot, where did the 3:1 come from? -

What evidence would convince you he did something wrong? We have pictures of him doing drugs, videos with prostitutes, and emails and texts explicitly demanding bribes, what more would make you think he deserves to be in jail. -

Do you mean this line? "Across the 854 urban areas in Europe, we estimated an annual excess of 203 620 (empirical 95% CI 180 882–224 613) deaths attributed to cold and 20 173 (17 261–22 934) attributed to heat" which is more than 10:1 ratio? Or is there something else? Seriously where did you get 3:1? I had assumed you meant the tables inside the report since NOTHING shows a 3:1 ratio as you claimed. -

Are the numbers the same on the abstract as the table? I am doing this on my phone and the columns don't stay lined up in the abstract. If the abstract has different numbers then the table then the table is a straight lie, if they are the same then I am correct. -
So since it was not FORMAL, we can't mock you for being a hypocrite? Ok please hold yourself to that standard, or really any standard of decency

I generally like Ben but this is truly sad on his part. This is not a movie trying to sell a lifestyle or anything, it is simply made to laugh at the absurdity of it all. As I write this my wife and 13 year old daughter are going to see it this afternoon so I might have more to report later. -
On July 7th you wrote in the Sound of Freedom thread: Is it about Mules? And here is your comments about 2000 mules

We already discussed that, but that would require intent and I can't prove that. I am not sure what his point is at this time besides pretending that a table has a purpose beyond helping people look at data quickly. -

I am not digging- the cold deaths in Croatia is listed at more than 150 the hot deaths is less than 40, how the hell is that not greater than 3:1? And that is the smallest ratio. Ireland is more than 150 for cold and looks like 3 for hot, how are you getting a 3:1 ratio overall? -

Are you telling me the chart is not of the numbers from the report? What are the numbers on the chart from? Your insulting me and then telling me that the charts and raw numbers are not the same. -

Are we looking at the same table? The closest ratio is Croatia and they are still above 3:1(less than 40 to more than 150) Seriously where are you pulling your numbers from? -
DeSantis For President in 2024?
Orlando Buffalo replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Actually Joe did run the best campaign in history. He knew the media would lie for him in an entirely unethical way and he allowed it to happen so he could win. Why give your political enemies something to run with when doing nothing is the winning strategy? -

The main premise was what kills people more as a main factor, hot or cold? The final tally was more than 10:1 cold killed more but the graph was made to look like the numbers were kinda similar. -

We won't agree because we are truly arguing two different things. You are arguing that the data was accurate, which is true. I am showing you that this kind of presentation is improper. If I accept that no malfeasance was intentional then the next question is what is the purpose of the table at all? It is beyond useless, simply show the raw numbers instead of using the bars. The table is at very best poorly done to the point that it is worthless in that context, since a table is supposed to make it easier to compare not more difficult. -

What is sad with your argument is that one of the topics we discuss in stats with students is all the ways that people can present real data while clearly trying to mislead, and one of big ones is messing with the scale on two separate graphs with same information. But I found another graph that supports your belief.
