  1. I am surprised that he talked to Jerry Sullivan of all people. Didn't Jerry say that Ralph had dementia or something?
  2. This made me laugh, cincy.
  3. Is Eddie Robinson still around?
  4. Yeah... I knew the original well. I had liked the remake, but it did not really hit me hard until I saw the video for the first time right after getting the news of Cash's death.
  5. I am not sure the quality of rap has to be judged by its message. So much of it -- including many of greats that you mentioned -- basically rap about how great they are/how they get no respect/women/drugs/money/how some other rapper sucks.
  6. I am sure the people making fun of this story on the radio and on TV will be rushing to let everyone know that the police had the wrong guy... If anyone does remember his name, they will most likely remember him as someone who did do this.
  7. Where did I fail you? Warranties and insurance can both make money for companies and be good for people depending on the person's risk aversion.
  8. While I agree that extended warranties usually are not worth it, I think your logic is wrong. Just because they make money for the companies does not mean that they are a bad deal. Insurance of various types make money for insurance companies, but insurance often makes sense not only because the law often requires such insurance but also because people are risk adverse while the insurance companies can be risk neutral.
  9. Yep, that's exactly why I stopped watching House after a few episodes. 24 has a similar problem, just stretched out of a longer season. 1. Terrorist Plot 2. Mole furthers terrorist plot. 3. First terrorist plot foiled. 4. Guy captured or killed is small potatoes. 5. New mole. 6. New terrorist Plot 7. New conspiracy. Etc. But I still watch 24. However, the networks canceled Life and Terminator, leaving little on TV that interests me. And why try to find something new? Chances are the show will be canceled.
  10. I still remember that the Bills were up 13-6 at the half against the Cowboys in XXVIII. I skipped an indoor soccer game as a kid in order to see what I thought was them finally pulling it off.
  11. I think I agree. My feeling was that Microsoft's problem was that they have to support too many different kinds of hardware and too many legacy programs. Apple has gotten away with completely changing its operating system, switching architectures three times and fully controlling its hardware (outside of the clone experiment in the 90s). I have used Macs since I was a kid (first computer was a Mac Plus). Once we get to the late 90s, I felt that OS 9 was extremely unstable and inferior to what Windows was at the time. OS X stopped me from switching.
  12. Life and Terminator get cancelled but this show lives on... how unfair.
  13. Is the NFL reluctant to expand just because of how pretty they think these four-team divisions are?
  14. I do wish that Apple would have a low end Mac tower that would allow me to easily upgrade the drives, but I am not holding my breath on Apple risking its profit margins. And no, I did not want to fiddle with a "Hackintosh."
  15. I just got the same myself! (Although I got a previous version, refurbished by Apple). This replaces the 15 Inch Flat Panel iMac G4 that was still going strong after seven years (I had put in a faster -- and quieter -- HD and maxed out the RAM, but it was starting to get too slow for this day and age). I know that I overpaid for the hardware part of it, but it sure is a lot more fun than my work PC.
  16. "In life, X is ALWAYS THE CASE." Y-anecdotes tangentially related to X: "You never see A doing ridiculous thing B or C doing ridiculous thing D." "Thus, X is ALWAYS THE CASE"
  17. Why are you moving back to Buffalo?
  18. Really? They mean that Renslow didn't have intentions to land unsafely?
  19. I agree with you. I am kind of surprised that this rule even exists. The whole conversation is eerie in light of what happened. As far as experience goes... is the solution to have people stay on as co-pilots for longer? I don't know. Inexperienced pilots have to get experience somehow.
  20. That's a pretty sweet house for the money. I couldn't afford it, but still.
  21. What's up with the snotty commenter on that web page? The commenter has good points, but he's being a jerk about it.
  22. You've had bad luck with technology lately: losing that Brickbreaker game and now this? ESPN doesn't provide you with a snazzy computer?
  23. The streak wore on Ripken's performance. The affect on his numbers were clear. In fact after he started sitting down, his number rebounded. Until we know something indicating that a player used steroids, let's not assume.
  24. Your grade of Clements is unfair. If he was good, he was good, no matter how long he stayed with the team. TD certainly was not the one to let him go either... Lee Evans deserves an A and Lynch a B+.
  25. The key is that while Losman did have a good 2006, he was under contract for two more years at the time. The Bills were waiting for a good 2007 before extending him.
