  1. The Pats first practice is 9:15 on July 25th....so they are not starting a week early. The other two have first year head coaches.
  2. I, too, was sad to hear this. I went to UK and was a big fan of the Pillsbury Throwboy...Lots of fun to watch.
  3. I seem to remember a certain Bills running back coming in with sympathy "pregnancy weight" coming in overweight and out of shape and blaming it on eating with his pregnant wife.
  4. Actually, he did. Think about who Fitzpatrick is. He's smart, without a great arm. He's the type of guy you would expect to be a captain checkdown game manager. And that's what he was when he came into the league. I remember an article when Fitzpatrick credited being on the scout team with creating a change in philosophy. He said that in practice he was supposed to be Brett Favre...so he would make Brett Favre (risky, tight window) throws....and was surprised to find he would complete many of them...so he decided he could be a risk taker and take those shots in the game. It was this CHANGE in philosophy that Fitzpatrick credited for his ability to transform from a lifetime backup to a starting quarterback for the Bills.
  5. I have maintained hope for Murphy...and am not ready to call his signing a bust. Often, with serious injuries like his, players are not fully recovered the first year back. Mind you...often they never return to full speed....but I think there is hope. Think of Carson Wentz last year....he was back playing...but never really close to his old form.
  6. They'll be resting starters where? Over there? Or over here?
  7. If we are going to go Magnificent Seven...I think we need to match each one up with a character in the movie (old school, please). So...for example...who is the Charles Bronson? And does one shy away from contact? We need the cowardly one.
  8. Watched the video. That is some world class gesticulating. Can he play football, too?
  9. Seems the scouting report on several of these late Bills picks say "needs to get stronger." Maybe they are counting on putting that state of the art training center to good use.
  10. I think that we might have discussed this about the Watkins trade. What did we decide on? I think it might have actually been 4 picks....The pick for Sammy at 4, the pick Cleveland used at 9.....the pick the following year...and a pick we would need to use in the future to get a receiver like the one Sammy was supposed to be. Yeah....I think that was the conclusion the board came to...but feel free to discuss.
  11. Not sure I trust your math. For example, didn't it cost us 3 number 1's to draft Sammy Watkins?
  12. Picking an SEC tackle in the second round who many projected to go in the first round...because of a bum knee? Where have I heard this before? Don't do it, Bills.
  13. Tell that to Eli Manning and Charger fans.
  14. I think what he did last year was brilliant. The previous GM had talked about being in "QB hell" because they were never bad enough to draft a top quarterback. Beane collected enough assets to move into the top 10 in a year when being in the top 10 could land a top quarterback. This year, for example, I am not sure that they would be able to land a quarterback equal to Allen, even if they were in the top 5. So, they got a quarterback without having to tank and without having mortgage their future by giving away all their picks. I also love the approach this year. Build depth and fill needs with solid, but not overly expensive, free agent players....allowing him to go after the best players available in the draft.
  15. If you want a receiver with great straight line combine speed, why not trade for John Ross...might be able to get him on the cheap, certainly a lot cheaper than the 9th pick.
  16. As I recall, it was mainly "quick first step" that got Maybin drafted early. I think it was McShay, in particular, who went on and on about that quick first step.
  17. Am I the only one who suspects that BB is retiring or leaving the Patriots either after this season or next? I can't help wondering what he told McDaniels that made him turn down a head coaching job that he had already accepted. My guess is that he said, "Hang around here another year or two, and you can be coaching the Patriots."
  18. I have been wondering....which would I find to be a more satisfying season: This one if we beat the Patriots and mess up their playoff positioning (and possibly even keeping them out of the playoffs) OR last year when we made it to the playoffs but lost in the first round. Because of the streak, I am leaning toward last year....but if the Bills could pull out the win today, it would be close.
