  1. His teams have had one great year defensively, during the Bears 13-3 season in 2001. His Bears and Lions Ds were generally in the bottom third of the league every year in total yards. He did have 12th and 16th finishes in points allowed to his 'credit' with Chicago. His defenses in Jacksonville never finished higher than 15th in either category. Great hire, Marv and Ralph.
  2. May not look too cheap once season ticket sales figures start coming in...
  3. Not that I'm aware of. He has never coached in Pittsburgh.
  4. I don't hate Jauron, but the selection itself doesn't exactly make me too thrilled with either Marv Levy or Ralph Wilson. I understand that you can't always listen to the fans, but damn, its pretty clear the fans wanted someone else and they just didn't care.
  5. Dick Jauron is going to be the Bills head coach!? I'm SO excited! Wow! I SO look forward to the Bills continued committment to mediocrity! Go Bills!
  6. What had Roethlisberger proven coming out of college? Nothing, just as Losman had. I have no problems whatsoever with him making that claim at the time.
  7. What did you expect him to say?
  8. Steelers 30 Broncos 10 Panthers 28 Seahawks 24
  9. As bad as Wannstedt is, it could be worse. We could hire Capers or Jauron.
  10. Maybe Dick LeBeau does not want to be a head coach?
  11. To be honest, even though Lofton has only a few years of coaching experience at any level, I'd rather the Bills take a chance on him than hire either Capers or Jauron. That said, I'd much rather the Bills hire Mike Sherman as HC.
  12. Or they could become coordinators for other teams.
  13. Turn on the East West Shrine game if you want a late round QB...Alabama State QB Tarvaris Jackson. Mobile and has an absolute cannon for an arm, and will probably be picked in the last two rounds.
  14. This is something I mentioned a couple of days ago. If they really want to hire Dick Jauron, then they've already screwed up big time. They never should have interviewed Sherman, instead interviewing weaker candidates like Haslett or a few coordinators with no experience. They might be able to make a believable argument that Jauron is better than those guys. If they hire Jauron now, they'll never be able to sell it to the fanbase when they'll be passing up a former HC with a much, MUCH better W-L record in order to hire him. Its going to look like another cheap coach hiring.
  15. As they say, throw enough crap against a wall and eventually something will stick. Seems to describe the media's reporting on the HC situation perfectly. Toss out enough names and eventually one of the them will be right.
  16. Yeah, but the problem you have is that there's no context for it. They could have been in the middle of a two hour break for all you know.
  17. Speak for yourself. I certainly don't want Haslett to be the Bills HC.
  18. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2277901 Defensive tackle Grady Jackson, one of several Packers veterans who will become free agents, expressed support for Sherman. "Mike was a great guy and I know he'll be coaching somewhere else," Jackson said. "Wherever he goes, I won't mind playing for Mike Sherman. He's just that great of a guy." Not the youngest player the Bills could sign, but he'd solve an immediate problem and buy the Bills some time at the DT position.
  19. If they're considering Jauron, then age shouldn't be a factor in considering Saunders. Al Saunders is almost 59, but Dick Jauron is 55.
  20. He did have a 13-3 season with the Bears. But its understandable that you'd forget, considering that he went 22-42 in the other four seasons he coached the Bears.
  21. Good luck selling Dick Jauron and his 36-49 career record and 4 losing season out of 5 to a Buffalo Bills fanbase that is sick and tired of losing.
  22. Al Saunders was the Rams WR coach in 1999 and 2000. He'll be 59 next month.
  23. Yes. He was the Rams WR coach when they won the Super Bowl.
  24. I don't know if he's a purely a WCO coach or not. It may simply be a case of Sherman not screwing up something that's not broken (something too many coaches do in the situation he was in). He appears to be rather new to the WCO, only being involved in that system since joining the Packers in 1997 (interestingly as a TE coach and assistant OL coach). Prior to that, Sherman was an OL coach dating all the way back to 1983 with Tulane, Holy Cross, UCLA, and his most recent job prior to joining the Packers was at Texas A&M, again, as an OL coach. I find his experience at Texas A&M the most interesting and the most indicative of the fact that he probably is NOT a WCO only type of coach. That's not exactly a passing team, but he coached there for almost a decade before joining the Packers. Most likely, the WCO is simply something he picked up under Holmgren, but he's probably got experience coaching in a lot of different systems.
  25. No, he won't hire Sherman simply for that reason, but you're crazy if you don't think Levy will consider how his HC choice fits his existing roster. The fact that Sherman liked Losman and presumably still does WILL have some influence, especially once Sherman explains why he believes Losman would fit so well in his offense.
