Good points, as usual. But, ok, don't throw out the game plan. Keep it as a reminder of exactly what not to do against them in the future.

Agreed, the perspective is refreshing. Everyone, myself included, needs to remind themselves that no one plays perfectly. All players have bad days; all teams have bad games. Overly criticizing Tyrod or Rex or Dareus or any of them after one performance is ignoring that simple fact. That's not to mean we shouldn't talk about what went wrong. But, we shouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water. Whatever this game plan was... Throw it out. Burn the trash can. Bury it in a field under a full moon. It stunk and needs to never be seen again. The really bad thing is just about any fan on this forum could tell you that dropping Hughes into coverage and not blitzing Brady is a bad plan. Or that play 7-10yds off the LOS against the dink and dunk master is not a good idea. I just don't understand how coaches over think this stuff and blow it so badly. Offensively, they're going to have to open it up a bit. I saw it in the Colts game and yesterday it was in full display. Crowd the box and force Tyrod to throw long.

I can get behind that, but there has to be a balance. You need confidence and passion, but today it seems we're seeing the other end of the Jauron spectrum. Too much hype and undisciplined game. They all but conceded the game away in the 2nd quarter with the sloppy play and stupide penalties. Of course, assuming they were real penalties, I didn't see any of them and the TV cameras don't seem to have seen them either.

I'm sorry, but screw that. That's been the mentality of every coach this team has had for a decade. And time after time, the team comes out looking flat, disinterested and gets pushed around. I've seen enough of that lackadaisical football. This is a big game; its a statement type game. They need to to come out on fire and play like it.

Week 2: Patriots' Game Preparation - Inactives Announced
Dan replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is the exact game plan that teams for years have used against Brady and it just doesn't work. It's made me think at times that the league mandates teams play zone with no blitzers against Brady! Because everyone does it, thinking that Brady gets rid of the ball so quick you can't get pressure to him so why even try, and everyone fails at it. That's the one thing that I think Rex gets... You can't play a zone, get little pressure on Brady, and expect to win. Those rub routes or pick plays that they have mastered guarantee an open receiver. Give Brady 2 seconds and he'll hit him. They absolutely have to pressure him up the middle and disrupt the clean breaks off the line. On offense, the sith lord prides himself at taking away a team's bread and butter. All I can say here is... With so little footage, it's hard to say what the Bills' offensive bread and butter is at this point. So, we just have to be able to adjust, throughout the game - especially the 2nd half!, and matriculate the ball down the field. Keep pressure on Brady, and keep the offensive game plan fluid and we can easily beat this team. -
Good points, and I'm certainly not complaining. We won quite decisively. I just thought we shoulda tried some play action on second down to keep the chains moving a little more is all. But, in no way am I saying or thinking the game plan was bad or am I upset with the win. I just think Roman shut it down to keep plays off the film.

I'm not so sure about that. The offense definitely got very conservative after we went up 24-0. Its quite possible, they figured lets just count on the D and hang on playing a pretty basic offense, so they don't give any more away than they had to, to our next opponent. At least, that's what I'm hoping, because it got real conservative, real quick.

This just proves some people are not happy unless they're complaining,

A Few Thoughts About The Game, in no particular order.....
Dan replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe it was Rambo, but AW and Nigel both ended up standing there holding hands while dude scored easily. Either way, I really hope, they figure out how to cover that because it's coming plenty. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game, in no particular order.....
Dan replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The 2 WRs crossing, in a natural pick type pattern, that the Colts scored the first TD on left the WR wide open in the end zone. The next team we face uses that formation more than anyone. I sure hope Rex figures out how to stop that route. -

5 Reasons why College Football is better than the NFL

When a college team cheats, they actually get a fitting punishment. -
A Few Thoughts on Steelers @ Pats***
Dan replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It seems to me, you absolutely have to jam their receivers at the line. Their entire passing offense relies on timing and pick routes. They've mastered the pick route! That's why so many guys seem wide open. Disrupt their picks, make that cheater hestitate and you have a chance. -
FiveThirtyEight.com's Analysis of the AFCE
Dan replied to CodeMonkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think many of the pundits have the same concerns that I have, essentially it boils down to show me the baby. We have a new coaching staff, new systems, and new players across the board on offense. Additionally, most all of them have missed almost the entire preseason. So, there's little to no evidence that any of it can come together in the first half of the season, let alone game 1, and make for a winning record. Now, as a Bills fan, I'm eternally optimistic and trash talking more than ever with my Dolphin friend. But, realistically, not many teams historically have put this many new pieces together and had them gel into winning games immediately. Can our Bills do it? Absolutely! Will they? We'll know come November. -

Spygate to Deflategate-inside what split NE and NFL apart
Dan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly... They still have to execute. Plus, the opposing team still has players that are pretty good too. So, they don't win every game; they don't know every single opposing play; they don't have a guaranteed win. And that's precisely why you get the morons that claim it's not that big of a deal. Because it didn't help this time or that time. But what so many people tend to forget is ...cheating is cheating. They have taken extensive measures to gain an unfair advantage by bending and violating the rules. The fact that players are suspended for acts completely unrelated to the play on the field and Brady isn't suspended for cheating in the game itself is a slap in the face to every fan of the game, past and present. Belicheck should get a life time ban and the team barred from the playoffs for a decade. Instead they're celebrated as a champion... Its sickening. -

I've stopped watching NFL network because of this. it's as though half the league doesn't even exist. -
Exactly as I see it. Cheat and do whatever you want to win. If the league catches you... Just throw out the evidence, refuse your drug test, don't cooperate, whatever it takes. No evidence, no punishment. Just wow.

This is the first decision since the Pegulas took over that I fully think was the wrong decision. Fred is the heart and soul of this team. To be so close to the cusp of a Playoff run type season, and think he will miss it after all his years and effort, is a shame. Yeah he's old and whatever.. But he's easily the 3rd, if not 2nd, best back on the team. It just makes no sense at all to me. He's the most loved player on the team and he's cut. Reminds me of when the cut Thurman, Bruce, and Andre. Just disheartening

If Marrone still coached the Bills ...
Dan replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My brain can't possibly compute all the potential player moves that may or may not have happened; but in general terms, had Marrone stayed, this team would stuck in mediocrity. Chances are pretty good he looses the locker room by mid-season and finishes the season as a lame duck coach. In essence, we would have lost a full year of football. Of that, I have zero doubt. -
B/R Report: Rex wants to start Tyrod, other coaches split
Dan replied to johnwalter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
FWIW, i'll provide independent verification that he did infact post that back during the draft. I think it was in one of the draft threads after we drafted some dude. And no, kirby has not paid me in any way to say that. -
EJ deserves time on the field with first team offense.
Dan replied to gsurdam's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Watching the game, that's what I said to my sister. 4th and 4, needs a touchdown, one pass for the game and most likely his career in Buffalo. No worries, EJ. That's about as high pressured as it gets in preseason and all he did was zip the ball into tight coverage twice and win the game. Pretty impressive. -
After the Browns game, who do you want as Bills starting QB?
Dan replied to BustaTimes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Having not seen much of Tyrod till tonight's game, I can see why he's getting the hype. He looks like a starter... Decisive with the ball (other than that one sack), fast, had the offense moving with a good rhythm. EJ, as much as I really want him to succeed, he looks tentative, hesitant almost. The offense seems to stagnate with him, then he pulls out a brilliant series of plays and gets in the end zone, twice. Granted, he had crap for an Oline and blitz pickup and the play calling seemed to go ultra vanilla. But, it's really hard to see him starting over Tyrod based on tonight's game. One thing I do like is Rex Ryan. First, I like that Cassel didn't play tonight. Everyone in the free world knows what he brings to the table and borrowing something completely unforeseen, he's on the team. But, he really needs to see what Tyrod and EJ can do. So, he maximized their playing time. I liked that. Secondly, 50 seconds in the game and the Jawbreaker gives up a 1st down on 4th and 4 with an offsides, and Rex was hot on the side line! It's nice to see a coach actually wanting to win, even in preseason.
