I’d be fine with those 3 as the TE room. I suspect that they go 4 deep. The cap savings alone from Kroft and Smith could pay for Olsen. I view it as “would you trade Lee Smith & Tyler Kroft straight up for Greg Olsen?” To me, that’s an easy decision. You can use one of those 5ths or 6ths to add another guy to compete.

I think that he’s a rich man’s version of Kroft & Smith at this point. For the price of those 2 you can get a guy who had 52 catches and 600 yards in 14 games. He is a great veteran presence as well. He’s not the missing piece to a championship but he absolutely upgrades the TE room. Olsen, Knox and Sweeney is a good start.

He already has a NFL Network job that he works through the offseason. He can go to TV now. Playing in Buffalo or Seattle or Washington has zero impact on what his TV career will be. He’s really, really good on TV.

I’m more in favor of a speed back as well. I know that I sound like a broken record but we need more chunk plays.

He’s really good on TV IMO. He is going to be paid well to broadcast whether it be now or in a year or 2. I’m not sure he needs greater visibility. He already has the NFL Network gig. He can walk into a network job yesterday if he wanted to.

That’s kind of what I think too. I’d be surprised if he picked the Redskins (unless the money is substantially higher). It feels like he is either going to a contender for a year or two or to the booth.

Just to be clear I’m not condoning this if it didn’t happen. All that I am saying is that this was a smart PR play. We will never know the truth but some people will be on his side by playing this hand. It is troubling and damaging if it isn’t true. Rudolph should have sued him for slander to clear his own name. It’s a bad situation all around. My whole point was that it is difficult to get anyone to feel bad for you when you hit a guy over the head with a helmet. If you claim racism some people will look at it as “justifiable homicide” instead of just homicide. I’m not saying it’s right but from a PR standpoint it worked. It backed the NFL into a corner somewhat, Rudolph into a corner and gained some sympathy for Garrett. He didn’t have a lot of options and this sort of worked in that he is already reinstated. It is a little like the Justin Fields situation at UGA (although that was documented). He wanted to transfer because he was going to (wrongly) sit behind Fromm for another year. When the baseball player called him the n-word he was going to get cleared in the transfer portal. The NCAA didn’t want to be culpable. In some ways that’s what Garrett tried to do. This was him “playing offense.” I 100% agree with @H2o in that he played off something America is susceptible to.

I said at the time that claiming this was his best option. I don’t know if it happened or didn’t; I wasn’t there. However, this was CLEARLY his best avenue for sympathy and forgiveness.

This shouldn’t come as a shock. Tyrod falls in that category of “placeholder” QB. He’s like Fitz in that sense. If the Chargers draft someone raw like Herbert or Love they may need someone to hold down the fort for a little while. Tyrod has a winning record in the league and won’t beat his team. He’s not going to win or lose you games.

Feel like this is a topic that I can speak on. Dave Wheat is a very, very, very strong executive. When Russ left he basically took over the business operations for the Bills. This is a big deal and a big loss for the Bills.

I would have had the Bills class a little higher. 4 starters on a playoff team and a couple of more contributors. That feels like a good class.

Regardless, he WILL be the highest paid CB in the league at some point. The question is when is the best time to do that? Do we take the cheaper years now and then pay the bigger salary down the road under the new CBA? Do you offer him 5 years $75-$80M with $50M guaranteed now instead? It costs you more now but saves you down the road. That’s the debate

I really don’t think it’s like that everywhere. It is too a lesser degree but not like us. We legitimately hold it against guys. Mario Williams was a dominant player for a couple of years. There are people on here that have said he is their least favorite Bills player ever. I can’t fathom that!! We’ve had so many bad players!! How can you hate a guy that was a 1st team All-Pro?!?

I don’t think either of those guys were selfish. They wanted their market value. We were not giving it to them. They had to go elsewhere to get it. It’s the same in every job. If you aren’t being paid what you are worth you will explore your options and someone else will do that. We’ve all done it.

He’s not investing $1B!! The more money the NFL teams make the more valuable the franchise becomes. Would he be a moron to invest $250M to bring in $30M-$40M a year in profit? Keep in mind, that the franchise value will increase at the same time.
