  1. I really am not a big fan of the MNF broadcast on ESPN, at all. Tirico is dull as hell, Gruden, in 3 short years, has gotten old and stale, like John Madden did, after 25 years(who was much better at this schtick), and Jaws, much as I love the guy for his studio work, is just not a good color guy. I like Gruddens' football camp shows, or whatever they call them, but not so much because of him...it is more cuz I just like the idea of breaking down the highly touted college players one on one...he is just not a great broadcaster for games. As crazy as it sounds, it can work...and as crazier as it may sound, Mike Patrick, Paul Maguire and Joe Theisman were good together...even though Theisman was a blowhard. All in all though, right now, Michaels and Collinsworth are the best in the business.
  2. From her speech, and some of her interviews, she sounds to me like somebody who, maybe even more than the family issue, is just having a difficult time coping with the pressure of having one of the biggest selling records in a couple of years. She likely is wise, artistically, to take time off. Taking your show on the road, to promote a "new" record, after it has been out for 2 or 3 years can drain an artist's creativity. It has happened time and again. Sometimes winning that Grammy can be a curse. btw- I didn't wasn't trying to be "so mean" about Adele...
  3. Agreed on Cake....liked Nirvana, and I think Foo Fighters suck ass. As for Adele...I guess I may get some flack...but I don't really care for her...I actually liked a song from her first album (can't remember the name, "Right as Rain" I think) and I know she can sing..but I just find that kind of thing a bit dull... now that she has announced that she is taking "4 or 5 years off", post Grammy's, she will likely go the way of other Grammy divas...you know, a new album every 5 years, lots of hype...dull as can be! http://www.aol.com/video/adele-plans-5year-break-from-music/517272447/?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmain5%7Cdl5%7Csec3_lnk2%26pLid%3D135830 Workig in a music store, I suspect our bins to be full of used Adele CD's in about a year.
  4. Perhaps the polling data was collected before February 10th?
  5. C'mon Rob...if it wasn't for selective moral outrage, there would be no PPP!
  6. Like school on Saturday...
  7. That is what I am thinking. Honeslty, I don't think the Texans would be that interested in Manning, unless the price was "seriously" right...or, if Shaub is done for next season too...it just doesn't make a ton of sense. I still say he ends up in Arizona, if anywhere else.
  8. When will the Foo wars end? It's always been that way...
  9. It was a pretty dreadful show, all in all. McCartney doing the "Abbey Road" medley was kind of cool, Dave Grohl's speech about "keeping it real" when making a record struck a nerve(technology is killing music as far as I am concerned), and Bonnie Raitt and Alicia Keyes tribute to Etta James was nice...Niki Minaj was horrendous...was that even music?
  10. If that wasn't the case, every coach would have a job in the same place, unless he died, retired, or decided himself, to move on. Every coach gets fired...
  11. It seems like whenever I really like a show, the "critics" (and TSW posters) dislike the things that I think make the show stand-out... I saw that really annoying Dave Navarro dude making the same comments as most of you...it seems like some people just want zombie action, while others don't mind some slower paced story telling, which only serve to make the "heavy" scenes all the heavier. I thought the episode last night was good. Like that there are more survivors.
  12. He's out of his brain, on a train...the 5:15!
  13. Hard to tell what to think of DB's sometimes...somewhere, I bet, some NFL GM is licking his chops, just waiting for Leodis McKelvin to be released.
  14. Not the first time I have seen Spiller referred to as not being too smart. I could have sworn, when he was drafted, he was described as very bright, and a straight-A student at Clemson...for what that is worth.
  15. I dunno, if I need assistants for every poisitional coach, maybe hiring all these ex-players isn't a good idea!
  16. Well, there are going to be a ton of free-agents available this off-season, like never before...this could play into the Bills favor, as far as re-signing some of their own...and getting better, if they are serious about wanting to get better: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/thehuddle/post/2012/02/nfl-free-agent-market-could-offer-more-than-600-players/1
  17. I thought that was cellular telephones!
  18. I am a reluctant Facebooker... I started an account about a year and a half ago, and had 12 "friends"...all immediate family. I just ignored any friend requests I got, or emailed the person and explained, "I don't really do Facebook". Then, at my part-time job, they established a "group page" where we do all of our communicating, concerning schedule swapping, and stuff like that...it was okay. When two of my long-time co-workers at that job passed away within three weeks of eachother (one murdered, the other natural causes), I was bomabarded with friend requests...everyone was in mourning, and it seemed like the right thing to do, to accept more friends. My "friends" went from my normal 12, to about 55 withing the course of a week...then, my mother died this past week...more requests...Facebook has become a committment I don't really want...should I just ignore it? It sounds like "un-friending" is not the way to go!
  19. As I understand it, McNulty was the WR coach the last few years in Arizona. The Cards had Chris Miller (ex- Oregon Ducks/Rams/Falcons QB) as their QB coach. The Bucs wanted to interview McNulty for their OC position. Not wanting to lose McNulty, and to make him happy, Arizona canned Miller, and promoted their WR coach to QB coach...leaving the WR coaching positon open...for Frank Reich... You know this is the Cardinals angling to sign Peyton Manning. I don't think NFL teams hire coaches just to "be nice" and help someone out...unless they have some ulterior motive (ie: signing Peyton Manning in this case) or the new assistant/position coach has some previous relationship with the head coach, as was the case when the Bills (Gailey) hired Dave Wannestedt.
  20. I think it was the right call, but I am surprised they made it...I have seen them relax the "intentional grounding" rule, particularly for guys the stature of Brady, many times over the years. If Brady admits he threw the ball away, I bet he probably thoght there was a good chance he would get away with it, because he has before.
  21. RTDB...you lost me. What are you referring too?
  22. Kind of odd...a WR coach moves to the position of QB coach, to make way for a former QB to coach the WR's? Maybe they are just bringing Reich in to entice P. Manning to sign with Arizona. If he can still play at all, I think it would be a good place for him.
  23. Forgive me if this was already posted...I couldn't find it. http://www.azcentral.com/sports/articles/2012/02/08/20120208arizona-cardinals-frank-reich-receivers-coach.html
  24. Maybe my memory is hazy, but didn't it come out that Evans asked the Bills for a trade? If that is the case, much as I always liked the guy (my favorite Bill of the last decade), why would you want him back? Given what happened with Evans in 2010, and Gailey's criticism of Evans, it seems that Evans just does not fit in Gailey's offense. That doesn't mean to say that he is useless, and can't help some team out... people who insist that the Ravens got snookered in the trade with the Bills, ignore the fact that Evans was injured for most of the season, almost from day one with the Ravens. That gave the Ravens a chance to look at rookie Torrey Smith, who was terrific (particualarly early in the season) and it was tough for Evans to get playing time. Now, unfortunately, the lasting impression of Evans is going to be that drop in the AFC championship game...it was the result of a heads up play by a DB, as much as it was a poor play by Evans.
