1. It's a Pyramid Mall, so don't believe anything until it actually opens, if it ever does.

    742629

You could be right, but seeing that the old movie theaters and other stores have been demolished and it has been under construction for a couple of months, I'd say it's a safe bet....

unlike Destiny USA! ;) Is that project completely dead by the way?

  2. Anyone who knows anything about OL play knows you always, always block from the inside out which is simply what Peters was doing.  The guy inside was coming untouched so he moved over to block the inside rusher and then Peppers came from the outside.  It is NOT a play in the Bills' playbook.  It is what you are supposed to do.  If the play goes correctly it is a first down. Peters did what he is required to do on the protection scheme.  That is not the Bills playbook that is everyone's playbook on how protection is suppposed to run.

Okay coach...you have access to the Bills blocking schemes(and every other team in the NFL) and I don't. I'll try to remember that next time I want to make on comment on OL play. ;)

  3. Sir, you are off base on the facts. The game was sold out. The entire season is sold out. People were walking around looking at the new stadium and its amenities.

I am a die hard Bills fan, but your criticism is way off base.

BTW, the Cards offense is far superior to the Bills offense and way more fun to watch.

The Cards have the premier stadium in the league with an exciting team to root for and you find some way to try to pick on them. What for?

Considering the state of affairs in Buffalo, I would be a little more discreet.  What makes you feel so superior? Wasn't the stadium in Orchard Park built 33 years ago?

    742395

I would think that while the game was going on, they would want to check out their team and the sight lines from their seats. Wouldn't you think that they would check out the stadium BEFORE the game?

I don't feel superior, I was just making an observation, and that is...there were a lot of empty seats during the first half when the cameras panned the stadium.

PS What do the state of affairs in Buffalo have to do with this? ;)

  4. More lipstick on a pig.

    Is that building still sinking?

Back in 92 I bought a TV at the Stereo Advantage there. I had to take it out the back.  I had heard Pennys was sinking and I saw a concrete slab  wall out of kilter. The big nut that held on the  metal  connecting the  slabs had popped off I'm talking a 6 inch nut, not a small one.

People who live in Cheektowaga hate that rathole. Raised the taxes , ran business out of town (Thruway Mall) and caused massive road construction to be necessary.

They don't pay the  contractors and then later settle for say 60% just before being taken to court.

    742581

Damn...I only asked if anyone had been to the restaurants listed above, but I hope you feel better now. ;)

PS I'm not sure why you call it a rathole? It is by far the most successful mall in the area. Also, the Thruway Mall was already dying when the Galleria opened.

  5. In regards to the Peppers sack.  He came on a delay.  Peters had him and then took the guy coming inside which he is supposed to do.  You ALWAYS protect from the inside out.  If you watch the play (if you have the game taped) you'll see that Peppers comes on a delay and the space that he vacates leaves a Bills receiver WIDE OPEN at the first down marker.  It is Holcomb's responsibility to recognize that.  He makes that pass and it's a first down and the chains move.  So remember, things aren't always as they seem and everybody has to make split second decisions for a play to go well.  That should have been a first down play had it been read correctly.  Of course it's much easier analyzing a play in slow-mo.

    742419

Peppers was covering a WR? I dont' care if Peppers stood there and picked his nose for 3 seconds, when he takes off for the QB, somebody better be there to block him. There should never be a scenario where the opposing teams best pass rusher goes unblocked. If there is, we better throw that play out of the playbook!

  6. I noticed that all of Preston's time in the game last night was spent at OG and I believe when Fowler wasn't in there, that Geisinger was in at OC. On the bb.com depth chart, it doesn't even list Preston at OC. I assumed that he would be the backup center come opening day, but it doesn't even look like he is playing the position.

Has anyone at training camp noticed if he has taken any snaps at OC?

  7. For those who don't live in WNY anymore, the Galleria is adding a half dozen new restaurants as part of a large expansion. Except for the Cheescake Factory, I have never heard of any of them. Any comments...

"Six high-profile restaurants, all newcomers to upstate New York, are being added to the mall as part of a $60 million expansion. The new restaurants are..."

    Cheesecake Factory

    Hyde Park Steakhouse

    Bravo! Cucina Italiana

    The Melting Pot

    Abuelo's Mexican Food Embassy

    Bar Louie.

  8. You have a brand new state of the art domed stadium. You don't have to be in 110 degree heat. Yet everytime the crowd was panned in the first half, I saw empty seats everywhere. Wouldn't you think that the fans would be excited to see the new stadium? I know that all 8 of their home games are sold out, but the fact that you wouldn't want to be there for the very first game played is pitiful.

  9. It's time to stop treating JP with kid gloves, IMO.  I liked the decision to give him a lot of reps, and the fact he seemed to improve as he got more work.

It does no good to protect him if he doesn't get enough experience to get comfortable.  That's what he needed last year, and the fact that this staff seems to have enough confidence to leave him in for an extended period was encouraging.

    742273

I have no problem with leaving JP in the game for an extended period, but at least put in OL who are going to be on the roster this year.

  10. 1. Peters looked terrible. He went to the inside on one play(mental error??) and Peppers went in untouched on KH. On the next series, he dragged down Peppers and got called for holding(referee called out the wrong number). The signing was a good one, but he has a long way to go.

    2. K. Williams made some very good plays and I also thought Denney looked good. I still believe there is a chance that Denney could end up starting in place of Kelsay.

    3. McGee did not look good, but if memory serves me right, he was picked on at times last year also. He can make the big play, but appears to need to develop some consistency to his game.

    4. Aiken was the only receiver to make his presence known in the battle for the 3,4 & 5 spots on the depth chart.

    5. Holcomb is just pitiful. Assuming JP will be the starter and if Nall can show anything before the final cutdown, I'd seriously consider cutting Holcomb and bringing in a young QB as the #3. THERE IS NO UPSIDE IN HOLCOMB'S GAME!.

    6. WTF was Losman doing in the game with a bunch of OL who won't even be on the roster come the start of the season. He was lucky not to be seriously hurt. Not very smart Jauron. :D

    7. Gates looked good and Thomas was okay. Assuming WM can handle being the 3rd down back, Shaud Williams may not make it.

    8. Ricard and Shelton should be an interesting battle. I've never been a big Shelton fan and I think his blocking is very overrated. Ricard showed some nice hands last night and I don't think it would take much for him to win the job.

    9. Greer made a couple of nice plays and will continue to be either the nickel or dime back.

    10. Whitner looked okay considering he has only been in camp for a week and missed almost all of the OTA's. His hitting ability seems to be up to par for a NFL SS. I didn't notice much out of McCargo except to see him chasing after the play several times.

  11. That's funny you say that, Darcy just made this quote in the Buffalo News:

That 'Sabre dollars' quote cracked me up.  They definitely tried to have their own little independent financial world...similar to Moneyball.

    740934

Are "Sabres dollars" and "Sabres bucks"(which can be used for concessions and the gift shop) one in the same?

  12. Yeah... and the smart move was to wait until after the season was over to re-sign him.

Denney showed me more last year than Kelsay has in all 3 years combined in. Right now, I think Denney's got some game, and Kelsay is a BUST... time for CK to finally step up.

    740180

What??? Aren't you impressed with Kelsay's "High Motor"?:D I seriously believe that you may see Denney starting by mid-season if Kelsay doesn't start to show some productivity. I'm not sure I believe what I just wrote. :D

  13. Well that just means the onside kicks will be kicked down the middle of the field than toward the sideline.  That way you can still buch up as close to the kicker as possible but still have at least 4 guys on either side of him.  In a sense it's like the onside kicks we used to see but now instead of the kicker being on the far right or far left of the 10 players he will be in the middle.

    738151

That is certainly a way around it.

  14. Not to worry. Sadly, he (and he is not alone) is trying to dominate the board, and set a tone where questiong/criticism/disagreement with the party line is not allowed.

This board would suck if everybody toed the party line. In reality, the fact that we can discuss issues Bills issues and disagree is one of the things that makes TBD the best site on the web.

    738500

Amen. No matter what anybody posts here, come the regular season everybody wants to see the Bills win.

  15. George Wilson, Nance, J. Smith, A. Davis, Aiken...at least 4 of these guys is not going to make the team, most likely. And they're all good enough to be at least #3 WR on any team, possibly with the exception of Nance.

    738522

What makes you believe that any of these WR's are good enough to be a #3 on all other NFL teams when except for Davis, none of them have ever filled that role in the NFL? I don't know what Aiken, Wilson or Smith have done with the Bills that led you to this opinion?
