  2. I’d like to edit my previous post and pass blame to Brady and the scheme of this play given the situation and not put it on Torrence. Having watched the endzone angle, I was forgetting he is likely coached up NOT to work up to the double team because of the baked in pass option in the bubble. You can see how aggressively he works laterally, and never makes an effort to work to the second level. That said, the dolphins made a good play on this. Maybe you want a better block from Spencer Brown on rookie first rounder Kenneth Grant but ultimately it seems like they were predetermined to run the ball here and the scheme of the play left an inside backer unblocked on 3rd and 1.
  3. With his window just opened, what makes you think he’ll be activated this week? Especially having just signed Mathis, do you think they’ll carry 5 DTs? I suppose they might now that their depth at End has been depleted
  4. Seems funny they released Kingsley after the Jackson IR move. You’d think they’d like to get some depth at the position. ShaqBarrett Yannick Ngakoue Jerry Hughes BOOGIE BASHAM???
  5. This is something they encourage IMO. The condensed formations create so many holes and 1v1 blocking match ups. When they’re successful with them, it’s hat on a hat and cook, finds the seam. Bringing all those guys into the box actually opens up the second level of the defense when it’s executed well. The ultimate goal is to get Cook 1v1 in space vs a corner or a safety, and by bringing all the people to the party, it creates more running lanes and more open space on the boundary for cook to use his speed. Take Tyrell shavers for example. When he is in the slot, most corners or ILBs would not be playing him head up, but instead shaded inside and that is a tough ask for a WR to dig out a player who is already positioned closer to the football and has a good angle at the ball carrier. Instead they just beat that defender to the spot by presnap alignment, giving the WR a better chance at a successful block while bringing more people into the box and less on the edges. This isn’t true for every run play, obviously, but those condensed formations are something they do BECAUSE it stacks the box in a way they find advantageous.
  6. Walker Sanders Ogunjobi Jones Bosa Groot Epinessa Solomon Its definitely not what we envisioned up front but it it should do.
  7. Obv the injuries to the skill positions are a huge factor but it wasn’t long ago the league was looking at the packers and how they’re built their passing offense and questioning if that was the way to do it. Tonight was a resounding no.
  8. Slowly working through the All 22 vs Miami and I am dropping this here because the talent vs Brady thread is buried… I will speak for the first three drives. Our passing offense was so out of synch…and it had little to do with separation, at least from the opening gun. There are guys running through zones (Shavers, Samuel) into defenders, and Allen passing up quick reads for whatever reason (once to Coleman, once to Shavers). When a team comes out and plays an entire quarter that seems very unprepared and making these mental errors I question how well they’ve been prepared for these situations.
  9. I’m only 3 drives in, but so far a few things jump out at me: - 12/13 personnel: Miami went to a 5 down front (3 DTs). It made it really hard on our interior guys to get to the second level. - 3rd & 1: Torrence mental error and stays on the double team instead of coming off his block to the ILB who makes the stop. - 1 blown up run in the back field was on McGovern, completely overrun’s the LB on the inside zone and gets beat underneath. -#20 for Miami is very good against the run.
  10. Yeah I’m not going to excuse Keon on some of those weak back shoulder targets but there were two clear deep balls I thought he should have put on him. Allen’s never been one to have the touch to hit the sideline fade. Both were severely underthrown.
  11. Aside from the obvious, one thing I’m looking for this weekend is a full leap of faith into the young DBs. Enough Poyer, Dane, Tre on the back end. Let’s roll with Hairston, Hancock, Bishop and Benford and how this thing all comes together.
  12. I think it was more frustration towards Brady and the way the offense shifted. You have to remember; up until the Dorsey firing Diggs was ripping off 100 yard games left and right. He was still twisting DBs on great routes and was a force. Following Brady taking over he was much less effective and utilized. He got pissed off (as many competitors do) and was probably the first to fire a warning shot that no one adhered. He is not without fault, but media and fans turned on a player who strung together an epic 4 year stretch and was as passionate and dedicated as they come. All we saw was the Ws, and believed in the updated philosophy. Pair that with Diggs history in Minny, and it was easy to write his concerns and frustrations off as a Diva complaining. Turns out he was right, while many in Bills mafia and the front office at OBD look silly. I think the trade compensation wasn’t awful either, but the fact that we’ve never been able to replicate his production at the position, not his fire and passion on the sideline, is the bigger mistake than moving on. end rant.
  13. Mehhhh idk. Seems like exactly the kind of fire we could use right now.
  14. Both things can be true
  15. And waiting four seconds to throw all the way across the field was the better option? The read here should have been to the 1 on 1, but like you alluded to earlier in this thread, Allen is likely captive to the limitations and doing too much because of it.
  16. Interesting to me that he threw all the way to the #1 in the trips to the wide side of the field when he knew it was a pressure look, instead of taking the boundary 1 on 1.
  17. The fact Samuel has like 65 receiving yards is unbelievable
  18. Way too early to tell but based on my initial diagnosis I’d say it’s a career ender
  19. Remember when Dorsey was fired, Brady took over and we heard a lot of “this is Josh Allen’s offense now” I wonder what JA is thinking these days
  20. If Waddle was on the Bills sideline today, instead of the Dolphins, idk that it changes the outcome of the game.
  21. Obviously both but Brady has to be the main culprit. Khalil Shakir is statistically on pace to mirror last season, while Curtis Samuel and Elijah Moore are poised for Career worst seasons. Coleman seems to have not made any noticeable strides, nor do I see any attempt to get him involved in the game aside from the random back shoulder that is just entirely awful. Palmer has been injured and usage inconsistent so it’s really hard to know what he’d be contributing if healthy. It just strikes me as Brady has no idea how to get the best out of his wide receivers, and Beane didn’t do him too many favors bringing in talent for him to work with. It’s a bit of chicken and the egg, but I also feel that it falls on Brady because of the effect it’s had on Allen. He’s taken a weapon and put a governor on it. He’s antsy in the pocket, passing up open WRs for the big play, and taking sacks and turning the ball over like years past. It’s frustrating that we don’t seem to have the answers.
  22. Super frustrating game. And as much as a disappointment it is that they’ll likely lose the division, the goal has changed: make the playoffs and all bets are off. Punch your ticket to the dance, and we still have Josh Allen and a fighters chance. You never know when you’ll get hot. Things aren’t pointing that way; but we’ve seen flashes. It’s too early to say, “throw it all away” and start talking firing people. There will be plenty of time for that when the final whistle blows and we know where we end up.
