Week 14 - Bills at Rams Game Week Thread
EmotionallyUnstable replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
It’s an actual on-field (or on turf) practice. It is deemed walk-through because it is not a padded practice. Generally players are in helmets only. There will be zero contact, although drills will take place. Here are some examples: -stretching -conditioning/rehab -individual drills (indi) -interior/perimeter install - defensive checks/coverages -routes on air - specials For many parts, they will be taking the Xs and Os from film or chalkboard and literally walking through it on the field (recognizing fronts and what play to get into, looking at formations and discussing what coverage they need to be in or how motions will change this, etc) Then tmrw and Friday will be “uppers/full” contact, but not live ball. There they’ll have their thud but no finish on blocks and tackling, while given the opportunity to refine those new checks, plays, etc against the various new (or old) fronts they’ll see -
FWIW, I am always leery of these charts for a host of reasons…one of which is that this graph mandates a minimum 100 snaps to qualify. Big Phil has only take 47 snaps as a Bill this season, so half of this is reflected off of his time not on the Bills yet credits it towards him returning to the McD defense. P.S. His snap share has actually gone down since initially returning to Buffalo (36%, 29%, 21% in 3 games)

Bills at Rams in SoFi. Anyone going?
EmotionallyUnstable replied to 26TrapDraw's topic in The Stadium Wall
SoFi is Barbie girl…all beauty no brains. Just a nice thing to look at but no substance to her. -
If that’s the case it’s Jalen Virgil

Havent seen it again but looked to me like the player carrying Mims was an underneath player…like a hole player in a Tampa two and they tried to disguise the deep half with the corner and he was way late over the top

OT: what did you think of the hit on Lawrence?
EmotionallyUnstable replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is a massive assumption. Have you read his apology? What makes you think any of this would be true aside from that it supports the notion he was out to injure a player? These are just meaningless headlines. I am defending the player, not the hit. No one wants to see someone noodled on the field. These things happen, especially when you’re playing 100 mph -
Can Jameis go away now?

OT: what did you think of the hit on Lawrence?
EmotionallyUnstable replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ehh I think a lot of people see this as a black or white, “is or isn’t” issue. There is a ton of gray area here. The passion and shear velocity of these massive dudes is really easy to underestimate -
OT: what did you think of the hit on Lawrence?
EmotionallyUnstable replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
I am guessing that most people who think this is undeniably dirty or unquestionably intentional have not played football or have not done so in a long, long time. -
NFL+ offers Primetime games on mobile devices. I watch MNF on my phone. Subscription for the year was $50 FYI maybe next year

12/1/2024 Bills vs. 49’ers post game thread

I thought this too but Virgil was actually playing a lot of special teams this game…maybe they like him there. -

Not gunna lie, still feeling pretty beat after the game. Throat sore, legs tired, body aching, slight HO. Should be good to go by Sunday. Consider me day to day. I’ll let you know if I’ll carry a game designation on Friday

OT: what did you think of the hit on Lawrence?
EmotionallyUnstable replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the result was worse than the intention. I’m not losing sleep over it -
99% of the fans (myself included) would have read this post in the preseason and guessed we were 4-7. It’s remarkable

What are you doing with the spare time before the game?

Right, this is my point. As fans we want both, but it really isn’t easy to get a guy who can possess the size to be stout in the run game against a double team and wreak havoc against the pass. Fans have grown weary to watching teams be able to push around the DL on the ground, and its lead to many wanting that traditional space eater nose tackle. That is just not what McBeane will want. They know it’s not apple picking grabbing a guy who can do both, so I think they opt to do with guys who can penetrate and rush the passer, since their defense is primarily built to stop the pass. -

Maybe Jalen Virgil, too. Can we get a Jalen Carter? A Chris Jones? Everyone wants a 340 lb two gap player like Sweat…but it is not McDermott’s style. And the chances we are able to run across a 320 lb pass rushing force like the guys listed above is slim. I think they’ll reinvest this offseason in the DL (I can believe I’m saying this) and I can’t wait. They’ve already begun with the Carter pick…but they have a lot of room to grow. The 1 year stop gap deals of camp fodder playing significant snaps has caught up to their depth at the position, and I think they’re in a place now they can finally put more meaningful assets into the interior -

Emmanuel Forbes CB- Waived by Washington
EmotionallyUnstable replied to gonzo1105's topic in The Stadium Wall
You may very well be right that he will be CB2 in 2025, but I wouldn’t make that assumption. In fact, it would not surprise me at all if he isn’t. He has been unable to get onto the field multiple years now. He has not just been playing second fiddle, but was inactive multiple times last season (and again this year). The Bills had him shelfed until the Tre White injury forced him into duty….after which he played two games and they traded for Douglas, sending Elam to IR shortly after. I bolded the above because of how I choose to view Elam as a player is through the 1st round lense. You do not draft a player in RD1 to start year 4. That is wasted opportunity cost. Even if he comes out and plays at a phenominal level in 25, they will not be picking up his fifth year option this offseason and he would be a 1 and done that year in Buffalo. P.S. I have no hard feelings towards the player or towards Beane for this…it is what it is, and Beane has done well to make amends for this error. Still, the fact of the matter is Elam has not lived up to the investment so yea, I still with my initial comment that he has been a failed 1st rd CB
