My guess is that it isn’t as much as saving it for January as it is game plan specific. For example, you may stunt less if you’re playing a mobile QB, or if you feel you can overpower the OL to collapse a pocket quicker. I am not going to pretend to know the specifics for gaming planning purposes but I imagine saving themselves for January isn’t really a necessity. There are really only so many games to be played up front and by January the OLs have likely seen them all (even if not from the Bills)

Ya I think a good point to be made is that they are versatile in alignments and responsibilities (from what I can tell) and a lot of it has to do with the structure of their defense. If he is at the 1, I am assuming he is playing a one gap responsibility which is allowing him to be as explosive and penetrating as he can be like seen below; This two minute drill you’re getting 91 lined up at the 1 tech in both the 3-4 and out of an overload to rush the passer. I doubt you’ll see him playing Nose two gapping like a 0T. He is essentially the same size as Ed O

He is only 290lbs. Rams run a base 3-4 so you aren’t going to get your same alignments that the Bills will deploy. Although for our purposes you can say he is more of a 3 or 4i Sure he’ll play a 1 at time but he is a more natural 3T player

I do wonder if there is any opponent familiarity at play here. Obviously the NFC W opponents have significantly more experience against one another. Likely makes game planning more intricate….wonder if that is a quasi excuse for last weeks ridiculous level of success
