  1. Is anyone actually denied their right to vote, or is that a narrative? I'd bet that a national law passed to correct voter suppression would be fine, and I have no problem with that. I think there are aspects of this particular bill that go beyond. The States have historically been allowed to make their own voting laws. The reason why there's no uniform national law by now is because that's probably beyond the powers granted to Congress.
  2. Would H.R.1 even pass a Constitutional challenge? Seems like Congress is passing a law for matters it has no power over.
  3. Hopefully Dahlin learns that if he’s got a choice between turning and chasing vs. hitting the guy at the blue line, he chooses to take the body. He had every chance to stand that guy up. It probably isn’t taught so he likely got no instinct to do it. He’s been really bad at the blue line and in the neutral zone all three years he’s been on the ice. Dahlin’s other problem was that once he lost the foot race and Tokarski made the first save, he let the second guy come in untouched to score the goal. It’s like he’s a spectator with the best seat in the house.
  4. Not a generational talent like Dahlin? (end sarcasm) The guy who intrigues me is the forward from Michigan, Beniers. He may not be classic #1 pick talent, but "you get what you get, and you don't get upset" is what we say in our house.
  5. Nice start to the US/China talks in Alaska . https://www.politico.com/news/2021/03/18/china-us-alaska-meeting-undiplomatic-477118 https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-56452471 https://www.ft.com/content/0b71b440-49b8-42e8-993e-9a58bc3b5da3
  6. Firing Kruger isn't going to change anything.
  7. Thats how a normal coach would line them up. This team would have it: Who - One - Over Is - Is - Cares No - This - Watching End - My - Okposo
  8. I always go back in my mind to the fact that China needs to deal with over a billion people. Feed, house, employ them. All we want or get from them are cheap consumer goods. The US is not alone or isolated in their desire to curb China's expansion. And there are many belt and road countries who resent their decision to do business with China. The worse China acts, the more isolated they will make themselves. How many countries protested when the prior administration took a harder stance against China? Targeting or threatening to target their ability to procure raw materials and food should be step #1.
  9. Well now. That’ll make them think twice about breaking ignoring international agreements and stomping on individual rights next time. I think China doesn’t care much about assaults on democracy or attacks on autonomy. They’ll give us another example in Taiwan right after the 2022 olympics.
  10. IMO this comes right out of D.C. Kills two birds with one stone... One bird = keeps Cuomo out of the 2024 primaries vs. Harris. Other bird = will make NYS progressive and that's probably a payback to the progressive part of the Biden coalition.
  11. Have you ever tried reading through Fox in Socks out loud without tripping over the words or stopping to concentrate? Nearly impossible.
  12. Do I get a free bowl of soup if I buy that hat?
  13. Dahlin could use some Rochester humility. He plays like an entitled teenager.
  14. This is spot on. The ownership (a) doesn't want to spend on scouting and development (b) doesn't want to spend on front office personnel (c) doesn't want to give up control of a team that they have shown to know nothing about. (a)+(b)+(c) = cheap with important decisions. Sure, they'll throw money at free agents, but that doesn't make them *not* cheap when it comes to the Sabres. The result is that they're bleeding longtime fans and when the arena can open up to full capacity someday, they're going to find out that people have noted their incompetence and failure to spend money on the entire organization -- which is what this team desperately needs. Ownership is simply not committed to this team. And I'd wager that the players can see it. It bleeds into the on-ice performance.
  15. I haven't played Glen Oak a lot in a long time. It always seemed like a great course as long as they don't over water it. It seemed to get a bit "lush" for my tastes. One course I haven't seen mentioned -- and I haven't been on it since I was a kid -- is Whirlpool. I remember that to be pretty good and well maintained. Also, Delaware Park was the toughest public course around in my book.
  16. I wanted to see her take a knife and fork and cut it up into little bite size pieces.
  17. With the way Dahlin has played this season, he needs to get yelled at often. He coasts. A lot.
  18. There can be both, I agree. There's a third likely group. There are a lot of voters who went with Biden on name recognition, alone, without seeking any media portrayal at all -- and they'd be classified in my mind as anti-Trump votes.
  19. The Republican hypocrisy part isn't really applicable here. Remember, Senator Feinstein knew about Blasey-Ford for a long time and didn't think much of it until Kavanaugh was set to be confirmed. There was no investigation into the allegation while Feinstein sat on the claim. It was a circus because of the 11:59 timing of the release of information, and it seemed completely unnecessary at the time. Problem is that now all the "believe her" politicians are stuck with this position, or else they're going to look like the hypocrites. In this case, the first allegation was made in December, and now there's another one -- and it appears that there are bipartisan calls for Cuomo to resign. And those calls for his resignation are all premature. So whereas Republicans were saying "prove it" then they should rightly be saying "prove it" now. The loudest calls for Cuomo to resign seem to be coming from Democrats. Both sides seem to be consistent here: "prove it" vs. "believe her (without more)". You're right that the Dems are piling on, especially the progressive Dems. This looks a lot like an internal party power struggle. I said it before, the sexual abuse allegations are more headline-worthy, but Cuomo's handling of the federal investigation into nursing homes is a bigger deal and easier to prove. Why aren't the Democrats hammering this angle? Looks like a smear job that's politically motivated. They want him to go away, not go to jail. And NYS Republicans should be careful what they wish for.
  20. If they’re stuck with Hutton then I say that they should play a wide open up and down style of play. Theres no use in playing a defensive style to help Hutton because he lets in goals anyhow. They have skaters and (in theory) scorers, even on the blue line — let Montour and Dahlin in on the action.
  21. The easier case to make is the one where he lied to federal investigators who were looking into his administration. That would get you or me in jail pretty quickly. No he said/she said there. He will skate on both of these, I bet. It may wreck his re-electin, but he won’t see jail, not ever.
  22. Austin said a lot of nothing, ALF. Every quote was a dodge and a weave and an empty statement amounting to "trust us, everything is great". https://www.defense.gov/Explore/News/Article/Article/2516530/us-conducts-defensive-airstrikes-against-iranian-backed-militia-in-syria/
