It sounds like the fans might love him, but that is not how the team/staff feels. I also ended up hearing from one of Autry's friends that Copeland is definitely leaving and both sides are happy to break up.

With college kids, I'd never bank on anything as a 100% guarantee; especially in this portal/NIL world we're in now where things can change very quickly. But it sounds like the plan is for Copeland to transfer elsewhere and try to find a starting spot somewhere.

The only reason I'm saying the door could still potentially be open is because it sounds like we'll be losing a lot of guys this offseason once again and at some point you kinda have to build around somebody lol. We don't have enough talent to continue replacing half the roster every year but it sounds like that's where we are once again.

Very interesting. Appreciate the inside info. Might be that Copeland seems to be a little too free wheeling and probably doesn’t play within the offense as much as the staff likes?

I disagree. I think he is.

In fact I think he instantly becomes a top 5 backup in the NFL, which is very valuable.

Howie Roseman is one of the greatest GM's in the history of the NFL and I think this is another very solid move by him.

I think Howie is also counting on drafting very low, which makes this closer to a 4th round pick.

it is a lot to invest in a guy who isn’t going to play. The drop off between having a top-5 backup and a top-20 one isn’t that much either. For example, the rams just signed Jimmy G to a 1-year deal.  Seems like that is the better move.

Whats there to get? They traded for a backup that recently was a 1st round pick. For essentially a 4th round pick. If they liked him coming out, there like him better than a QB option in the draft in the 4th round

Don't understand this move from Eagles perspective?

Only way it pays off is if Hurts misses seom time and Pickett looks good and then you trade him.

All they did was lose draft position and gain nothing.

    What am I missing?

Agreed. This is utterly pointless by the eagles. Maybe they just think he is worth that much as a backup QB…. Which he is not.

Maybe this will prove as accurate as the Maliq fears, but I’ve had multiple people tell me today that Copeland is gone too.

Heard Taylor transferring is a certainty as well for different reasons.

Copeland transferring would be a heart breaker. Everyone loves him. Just a fun player.

I read he has not missed a game in two years.

When was he bitten by a snake? 2021 only season his missed significant time.

tell that to my fantasy teams!

I think you guys are right that 2021 was the real injury plagued season. But even when he played the last few years, he always struck me as gimpy, battling through toe injuries and groin injuries and hamstring injuries.

maybe it is just more exaggerated in my mind because I had him in fantasy for a few years, and felt I could never rely on him.

I believe he will be on a roster but not for Bills.

I do not believe he could come back to Bills as backup but he may be willing to join another team as backup or even as practice squad member getting healthy enough to play and be effective which is different..

I think you sell him short. I bet he returns to a roster and returns to play at a really high level. This is an injury he can fully

    recover from.

With all due respect to both you and Ty, he is the "cheap vet" to round out the room.

I like Ty and I'm glad he's back. Wanted him back. But I think he's in the same role as he was last year. Inexpensive RB3 and a solid guy to call on when there's injuries or one of the top 2 guys are underperforming.

I'd expect another vet that's a little more expensive or a mid round (instead of late) to be RB2.

good points. I love how he runs, but he hasn’t carried a full load yet.

I mean, that was just me replying with someone else's quote in regards to what I was talking about.

If questioning whether handing over another big DL contract is wise makes me a "party pooper", after Von and Oliver and already putting most of our money this offseason into Epenesa and Jones, so be it.

With the WRs in this draft coming out, paying that much for a guy like Ridley in FA is just a horrible idea IMO. This is how bad teams stay bad.

Agreed. lot of red flags with this guy. He also sort of plays soft.

Dolphins signing our scraps.  Noone did less on the Bills then Siran Neal.  Have no idea why we ever paid him more then vet minimun.

Agreed. he can go down to Miami, where he can continue to barely miss downing those touchbacks there.
