1. Keeper league-my 5 keepers were Deuce, Anquin Boldin, Tony Gonzales, Fred Taylor and Chad Johnson.  Big points for big TDs(50+ yards)

My choices(we start 3 WR and 1 TE)

    Lee Evans

    Brandon Stokely

Justin Mccarins(the second biggest underachiever in FF)

Koren Robinson(the BIGGEST underachiever in FF)

Chad and Tony are on a bye week.  ARRRGHH!

    60923

I think there might be some injury concerns about Stokley. I'd watch to McC to have a big game against the Bills--it's risky, but he'll be covered by McGee, who is still pretty raw in coverage.

  2. average person spends 10 min. per day managing his team.  lost producttivity 36.7 million per day. 14 million people play .  story on yahoo finance site :w00t:

    58995

I can't find the article--could you post a link. I've got to share this info with my league!

  3. He is being mauled by the Ravens yet he keeps shaking off defenders, throwing on the run and making plays.  Watch how other QBs respond to blitz's

    56986

Trent Green also has the best offensive line in football in front of him--on average, he gets more time to throw than any QB in the league. (This is not an excuse for Bledsoe, but an explanation for why a mediocre QB with mediocre WR's can be so productive).

  4. It's almost like I HOPE we botch up punts now--because that means Moorman will carry the rock himself. When Lindell lined up for a PAT yesterday, I envisioned a bad snap and Moorman diving over the top for the 2-pt conversion! :(

His pass last game was a thing of beauty--perfect spiral, hit the guy right in the numbers. His run yesterday was just a brilliant encore performance.

  5. Is the Seatlle Seahawks. They are just NASTY.

Week One against New Orleans 21-7  AWAY GAME

Week Two against Tampa Bay 10-6    AWAY GAME

Week Three against  San Fran 34 -0  HOME GAME

They have outscored their opponents 65-13.  They have traveled a TON. From Seattle to New Orleans and Back. Then back across the country to Tampon Gay. Then BACK to Seattle to kick the balls out of SF.

They are no joke, and are my official pick for SB reps from the NFC.

Week 12 is gonna be a tough one.

    51102

I agree that week 12 is going to be tough--when I picked the Bills to go 13-3 before the season  one of the losses was at Seattle.

But I wouldn't necessarily give them the NFC yet. TB and San Fran suck--so I'll wait until they play some better teams.

And Philly is looking unstoppable--Seattle will have to go through Philly to go to the Super Bowl.

  6. You panicked too early.

I think Henry and Manning will BOTH have better years than Hasselbeck and Westbrook. Not a horrible move, but I think you lost on this trade--especially on the running back part.

Henry had 1300 yards and 10 TD's last year on a broken leg with Gilbride as OC-- I think he'll easily surpass those numbers this year with MM as head coach. Meanwhile, Westbrook is getting about 12-15 carries a game (in an offense where TO catches 3 TD's a game)-- those are not numbers you're looking for in a stud RB.

As for your QB's, QB's are a dime a dozen in fantasy-- Manning will have 30 TD's, but Hasselbeck will probably have 25. Not as big a loss there.

  7. Good post but I disagree-Drew has never been accurate.  He has a big arm, is tough and is a great guy.  Those are the only 3 talents Drew has and only 2 of those help him on the football field.

    46987

I disagree. Bledsoe has been an accurate passer throughout his career. His % is above 57%, which I think is okay on its own, but great considering he has been a down-the-field guy his whole career. Put DB in a west-coast dink-and-dunk offense, and he'd have a career % above 60%.

The guy has faults-- his pocket presence, mobility, etc.--but his ability to throw a good ball goes unquestioned.

  8. What do you mean.  He is only the 16th best punter in the NFL right now.

    http://www.nfl.com/stats/leaders/NFL/PNT/2004/regular

He is only averaging 42.2 with 9.8 yards in return.

Last year he was 44.6 and return was 7.5 yards.

I really think something is wrong.  Maybe we can trade Willis and get a good punter.

    41731

    I think you're right.

But I don't think we should trade anyone. Put Moorman on IR and then let Lindell handle punts too. He has a really strong and accurate leg--I know he could do both punts and kicks.

  9. ...early in each half?!?  It's almost like it's scripted.  He walks slowly up to the line and then just burns an important timeout early in the half.  These timeouts are crucial.  I can see blowing one in the 1st half, maybe for an important play but in a close 2nd half you definitely want all 3 timeouts when approaching the 2-minute warning.  I don't want to see him non-chalantly burning TO's anymore.  It annoys me.

    41220

Geez! You guys are blaming everything on Drew now. There's not a QB in the league who doesn't do the same thing--and it's usually because the coaches are so late in getting the play in. Would you rather have him take a delay of game penalty? This is getting ridiculous.

  10. Do you think all of the sudden he will learn to feel pressure? Learn to get rid of the ball? Learn to throw AT the receivers instead of NEAR them? He hasnt done ANY of this in 2 full seasons, and counting. What makes you think he will all the sudden improve?

    41209

I think he did all those things in the game against Jacksonville. I thought he was accurate, got rid of the ball quickly, made good decisions, only took one sack.

I was surprised at Bledsoe's performance in Oakland. Yes, the guy has poor pocket presence. But I've never seen him so inaccurate. Because that was really the first time I've seen him miss open receivers like that, I think that his inaccuracy in Oakland was an aberration.

  11. I think people are forgetting: that was a great throw!! Our punter threw a perfect spiral and hit the WR right in the chest. 9 out of 10 punters in this league couldn't make that throw--it seems every time a kicker or punter has to get rid of the ball (e.g., a botched snap), they fumble it around before throwing a lame duck. Not Moorman-- perfect throw in a pressure situation.

  12. You are advocating that an offense gets dictated to by a defense. You do that enough you will lose.

    31131

    I guess we just disagree.

I am not advocating anything--I observed that the Jags d-line pushed our o-line backwards on the goal line on 1st and 2nd downs. I think in that scenario you have to pass. What I don't understand is why we didn't try the "playaction/ TE is wide open in the endzone" play. Every other team in the league runs that play.

  13. Not if MM's system dictates a qb drop with a pass on 3rd and 1 from the one-yard line.

    31046

3rd and 1 from the one .... after getting stuffed twice before AND facing arguably the best interior d-line in the NFL with arguably the worst interior o-line in the NFL. Every coach in the NFL would have passed there.

  14. I hate to do it.... but I am going to DEFEND Lindell here:

    1) I admit he was awful last season. But he claims it was due to a bum shoulder. I believe him because he is healthy now and had a terrific pre-season (8/9 on FG's, I think).

    2) He missed one FG on Sunday going into a tricky wind. Just one miss!! If he had been given a chance to hit that 50 yarder at the end and missed that too, then that's another story. But he wasn't given that chance.

As far as I am concerned, you don't cut a kicker because he missed his first FG of the year. While I think this puts RL on a short leash, we need to stick with him to see if he really has recovered from his injury and will kick better this year. I'm not a RL fan, but my gut feeling is that RL will redeem himself.

  15. Oakland gave up 91 yards to Staley in Pittsburgh and 3 goaline TD runs,  so Ted and Sapp aren't invincible.

    28796

That's the bottom line right there. If Duce Staley can run for 91 yards on Oakland, I don't think Travis and co. will have a problem. We're going to be able to run at will on them. And note to Gannon: you won't be playing the Steelers soft secondary next Sunday. The Raiders O will be shut down.

  16. Wheatley is poised for his career year in Norv Turner's offense, Emmit is running in a Denny Green offense that is going to surprise a lot of people, and both guys looked tremendous every time I saw them in the preseason. I like to start 3RB's and guys get hurt/have byes so having two extra potential starters is going to earn me a lot of points (and likely a fetch a great player later in the year).

I don't think Wheatley or Emmitt are feature-type backs anymore. Wheatley is not good enough to get 20 carries a game.

I've always beleived that #2 WR is the least important position in a fantasy draft because you can always snag a guy that pops out of nowhere in Week2-3 (Darius Watts, TyCalico, BStokely are this year's candidates). I also think RodSmith is poised for a big comeback year and playing weekly matchups I can get good production from the position with either him, Toomer or Driver.

I agree with you that you can always steal a WR in free agency--especially in a 8 team league. But I think there still had to be better WR's out there than the ones you got. Driver? Toomer? Come on! :)

I don't know why people continue to undervalue Trent Green. This is the second year in a row I've got him in the 4thround and the last two years he's thrown for almost 8,000 yrds with over 50 TD's and less than half as many picks. When you consider he plays behind arguably the league's best OLine, in an explosive offense and with a defense that is going to keep him on the field in 38-35 games all year, this guy should be ranked right behind Manning and Culpepper until he gives us a real reason to drop him.

Again, I love Trent Green--but I've drafted him the last 3 years in the 8th-10th rounds; 4th round is way too early for him.

I started a TE run drafting Heap early in the 8th round. And no, it's not considered larceny if it happens within view of one's own property......

Getting Heap in the 8th was a steal.

  17. QB:

    Trent Green

    Chad Pennington

    Jeff Garcia

    RB:

    Ahman Green

    Edge

    Rudi Johnson

    Ty Wheatley

    Emmit Smith

    WR:

    Moulds

    Rod Smith

    Amani Toomer

    Donald Driver

    Justin McCareins

    TE:

    Todd Heap

    K:

    David Akers

    D:

    Philadelphia

I'm sorry, but I don't like your team very much  If this is your team in an 8-team league, you are in serious trouble this year. But, then again, what do I know? :w00t:

    1) Your running backs are strong 1,2 and 3. But why even bother carrying Wheatley and Emmitt? They're both useless.

    2) In contrast to your RB's, your WR's are pretty weak, in my opinion. Moulds is solid, but I consider guys like Toomer (especially with Manning potentially starting), Driver and Smith "third-tier" WR's. And McCareins is a question mark, but could be okay for you. Good think you have your RB's.

    3) QB's: mediocre. In a 8 team league, I would imagine you could have gotten somone a lot better (and this is coming from a big Trent Green fan).

    4) TE, K, and defense are good. But I'd be curious to see where your drafted Heap.

    Good luck

  18. Who would you start at QB week 1:  Favre agaist Carolina (MNF) or Drew against Jacksonville?

I promised myself I would only use Drew if necessary (mainly so I can enjoy the Bills games in their purest form), but as I am one to overtthink these kinds of things, I am tempted to start him over Favre....tell me I am nuts!

    20192

With Favre as your QB, I would NEVER play the match-ups. Not for a single game all season unless there are exigent circumstances.

  19. 5: Peyton Manning

I would have never taken Manning. You could have had Portis, Jamal Lewis or Shawn Alexander! My personal philosophy is to draft QB's low, but maybe that's just me.

24: Travis Henry (needed a back badly at this point)

I like it. Let's hope Willis doesn't steal goal line carries.

33: L. Coles (my worst pick of the draft, just think I should have gone RB again)

    52: Quentin Griffin

    61: Plaxico Burris

I think your next three picks were great. You got Burris at 61! That's absurdly late--I think he's going to have a monster season in his contract year (e.g., 10+ TD's).

As for the rest of your team, Franks could be great if he returns to his TD-catching form of a few years ago. Guys like Booker, Antowain Smith and Becht are perennial fantasy disappointments. Overall, I think it's a solid team--but better if you had a backfield of Portis and Henry, instead of Henry and Griffin/Minor.

    Good luck!
