Sorry, but it's the truth. He's coming off a contract year in which he was far from dominant - and I'd guess that his numbers actually declined from the prior couple of years. This would all be fine - if he was willing to accept a somewhat reduced role and a FMV contract, to retire as a Bill in 2-3 years. But, he ain't. His agent, smartly, realizes his skills are in decline and suggested that he take his shot at getting Paid. I don't blame Big Pat, he was underrated and underpaid for his entire career. I don't blame TD either, for passing on a Lemon.
I disagree. He was unbelievably dominant this year! Our run defense was superb, he put pressure on the QB up the middle, and he even picked off a pass a scored a TD.
He's 31, but I would pay top dollar for him. Guys like Ted Washington and Keith Traylor prove that a DT can be in his mid-30's and still be dominant.
TD, let JJ walk and give Pat what he's asking for. He's a crucial clog to our defense.

#11: Rob Johnson (home jersey). Right when WGR broke the news that we were keeping Flutie and dumping RJ, I went out and bought all this RJ stuff on cbs-sportsline.com at a huge bargain. I think I got his jersey and two t-shirts for a total of $11. I knew WGR was full of it--so I took the risk and it paid off... until we dumped RJ a year later.
#78: Bruce Smith (home jersey). Favorite Bill of all-time
#51: Takeo Spikes (home jersey). Love his game and was so excited about his signing here that I bought the jersey.
Next purchase....Terrence McGee jersey (if they make one).

That results show was awful--the format was so horrid, as they just played with the contestants' emotions. I like American Idol, but that is the last results show I will ever watch. That girl who got cut was right--the show pre-ordains its favorites and those who are not among them have no chance.
-
You'd think they'd do a better job at picking players. My 2004 calendar was the same way, featuring the likes of Ruben Brown and Dave Moore.

I am rooting for Scott!
He is a rather "brooding" type of chracter, but I like the fact after he said his father had no confindence in him, he was his own man. Then on his initial audition, he just blew me away.
That's the guy I like too--especially since he's from Cleveland and I'm living in northern Ohio now. I'm just worried he won't get the votes from the millions of 13-year old girls who vote for the cutest boy.
I also will be pulling for Ozzie Smith's son (who looks exactly like his dad).
-
If Pace puts up another 21, we'll be fine.
I also like the move of Billy Edelin to the starting line-up--he looks like he's on the verge of returning to form.
-
Agreed 100%
Posey is solid and does what is asked of him in our defense. He's probably the most underrated Bill.
-
I completely agree--especially if you're an SU or Big East fan, Raftery is the man.
I love it when espn pairs up Raftery and Mike Tirico-- a really solid duo. But the McDonough/Bilas/Raftery crew is also outstanding.
-
I thought McCaluey was the "just give it 'em" ref--i.e., the 1998 game an New England, arguably one of the worst Bills' games ever.

what's better is this!
"Don Criqui and Steve Tasker, CBS -- Things are falling apart here. Players are misidentified, wrong ball carriers are named, and then a point is made about them. First Indy-Jacksonville game, technical stuff has broken down as well. They go to a commercial, for instance, without telling you a timeout has been called, or by whom. The spotters seem to be asleep. Coverages, double coverages, are not accurately described. Criqui mentions how punter Hunter Smith, "places it beautifully," when it actually comes down on the numbers. Neither one of them has a whiff of what line play is all about. Why not a lower ranking? Because most of the time it isn't this bad, and they're both honest workers."

I recall him coming into Buffalo a few times and kicking GW FG's.
I'd take Vandy in a heartbeat.
-
He's also an attorney when he's not reffing!
And in my opinion, the guy is the best ref in the league.
By the way, whoever in this thread said Tom White (aka, Alfred Hitchcock) was good, is crazy. What a terrible official!
-
I love Clements, but that is a reach by Len P.--there are a bunch of CB's in the league that are probably more deserving.
I would have loved to see Moorman make that team.
-
I loved Fast Freddie's big returns: the TD against the Pats and the long one to the five against the Rams. Such a unique, elusive return style.
-
The general idea is good: get another journeyman QB to compete.
The application is bad: Tommy Maddox is terrible and far worse than Bledsoe. As bad as DB played on Sunday, Maddox was worse. I'd rather have Brian St. Pierre.
-
I think Chad Scott is back, so it'll be Evans v. Scott--a match-up I still think Evans can win. Scott is a gambler; he will get beat deep.

The guy's rankings bite. He has no idea what he'd doing.
I just sent him the following e-mail:
Why bother even doing rankings when you follow the actual standings so closely? You write that you ranked the Jets ahead of the Bills because they split head-to-head and the Jets have the better record, and your ranked the Broncos ahead of the Bills because the Broncos own the conference tie-breaker if the teams tied.
But, and I think you would agree, the Bills are playing much better than both the Broncos and Jets. Isn't the point of any NFL ranking system to rank based on how good the teams actually are, oftentimes irrespective of the actual standings? And if that's not the point, then I'll dispense with reading your rankings and save time by just reading the actual NFL standings.

great post. great avatar.

Are you being sarcastic? TH is the consummate team player--he played his heart out last year on a broken leg for a 6-10 team. He's never made a stink about getting demoted--and he looks to be fully supportive of WM. How does his attitude stink?
-
How great would it be for the Jets to lose and the Bills win!! I'm going to be at RWS and I can just feel that place explode when the game is over and the Bills have won and then the scoreboard posts the Jets' loss.
-
Except for maybe Peyton Manning, I can see the Colts playing their starters for most of the first half and their subs for the second.
My gut tells me though that even if the Colts play their subs all game, they can win. Guys like Dominick Rhodes and Reggie Wayne are explosive and the Broncos are not.
-
Denver is so bad and Indy so good that I believe even playing on the road, with a vanilla game plan and playing all their subs, Indy is going to win that game.
People forget that these second and third-stringers are going to be playing hard--for many of them, it's one of their few chances to show their stuff.

Ooh, I like it. Then we could move Mike Williams to center. I also think we could trade Travis Henry to Baltimore for Jonathon Ogden. It would be sweet to have Ogden and Pace as our tackles!!
