  1. On a separate note, I have realized that I can’t really knowledgeably fill out a NCAA bracket anymore. I think with the demise of Syracuse bball, I just have no incentive to watch the elite teams in college bball play. I haven’t seen any of the top seeds play this year.

back when Syracuse was ranked, I feel like I knew so much more about college bball as a whole.

not sure if anyone is in the same boat?

  2. As much as I like to bash the Jets, if they have the money to throw

around, this is a good signing.

They don’t need Williams to be fully healthy. They have Hall and Wilson as their main offensive weapons. Williams will be great as a complimentary piece who ideally can play in like 60% of the games. It’s a bit of a luxury signing for them.

I could watch Tyson highlights for DAYS!!

i have a theory that is backed up with no data and sheer speculation that Tyson-related highlights are like top-5 most viewed YouTube content in America.

(I have a buddy who just watches interviews of him, and claims Tyson is a genius)!

Or...move Johnson to Safety and draft a nickle corner.  God forbid common sense be used here.

This is what several of us hopped McDermott had fixed within himself this offseason.  Odds are We are going to spend money we don't have to for a veteran safety.  Move Johnson and or draft one between rounds 4-6.

The guy that has always struck me as the most natural candidate to move to safety was Benford. But I think they really like him at corner.

Copeland is the unexpected one and that is what hurts. Taylor I could care less about, and Mintz was pretty much thought to be done after this year regardless.

Would have been nice to keep Copeland and run it back with Bell Brown and JJ.

I just don’t get it re Copeland. Poised to have a great year next year for us, IMO. He can’t be worried about his minutes.

Poles was getting roasted for only getting a 6th for Fields, so he called up Rap and leaked this to him personally. You gotta think that’s what happened here. Same thing happened last year when the 49ers traded Lance.

Agreed. Poles isn’t going to pass on a 3rd and 4th round pick to do Fields a solid. The reality is he blew it— could have sent him to the eagles, and gambled, and then scrambled.

Syracuse declined an NIT invitation.  Supposedly, there will be a mass exodus of players once the transfer portal opens tomorrow.

I was wondering what was going on. Seemed surprising they wouldn’t get an invitation. This makes more sense.

this is essentially the most difficult injury for someone at his position to recover from.

the upcoming year will be much worse on his body than the acl recovery year which means he’s going to be 30 coming off back to back rough injuries next off season as his likely best case

My thought is that these Achilles procedures and recoveries have really

improved over the last 5 years.  I remember reading something about even since like 2019, there has been dramatic improvements. That, plus the fact that Tre is more of a zone  corner— I can see him getting back to being a productive starter.

will he be an all-pro? Doubt it. But it wouldn’t surprise me to see him starting for a team here in the next 12-18 months.

It sounds like the fans might love him, but that is not how the team/staff feels. I also ended up hearing from one of Autry's friends that Copeland is definitely leaving and both sides are happy to break up.

With college kids, I'd never bank on anything as a 100% guarantee; especially in this portal/NIL world we're in now where things can change very quickly. But it sounds like the plan is for Copeland to transfer elsewhere and try to find a starting spot somewhere.

The only reason I'm saying the door could still potentially be open is because it sounds like we'll be losing a lot of guys this offseason once again and at some point you kinda have to build around somebody lol. We don't have enough talent to continue replacing half the roster every year but it sounds like that's where we are once again.

Very interesting. Appreciate the inside info. Might be that Copeland seems to be a little too free wheeling and probably doesn’t play within the offense as much as the staff likes?

I disagree. I think he is.

In fact I think he instantly becomes a top 5 backup in the NFL, which is very valuable.

Howie Roseman is one of the greatest GM's in the history of the NFL and I think this is another very solid move by him.

I think Howie is also counting on drafting very low, which makes this closer to a 4th round pick.

it is a lot to invest in a guy who isn’t going to play. The drop off between having a top-5 backup and a top-20 one isn’t that much either. For example, the rams just signed Jimmy G to a 1-year deal.  Seems like that is the better move.

Whats there to get? They traded for a backup that recently was a 1st round pick. For essentially a 4th round pick. If they liked him coming out, there like him better than a QB option in the draft in the 4th round

Don't understand this move from Eagles perspective?

Only way it pays off is if Hurts misses seom time and Pickett looks good and then you trade him.

All they did was lose draft position and gain nothing.

    What am I missing?

Agreed. This is utterly pointless by the eagles. Maybe they just think he is worth that much as a backup QB…. Which he is not.

Maybe this will prove as accurate as the Maliq fears, but I’ve had multiple people tell me today that Copeland is gone too.

Heard Taylor transferring is a certainty as well for different reasons.

Copeland transferring would be a heart breaker. Everyone loves him. Just a fun player.
