  1. re winfield, I was okay with it at the time. My reasoning was that the Bills could only pay one good corner and I thought Clements was better. But after that move, AW played at a high level and Clements declined. Re Pat Williams, I came to terms with it because I remember hearing that we tried to re-sign him, but he left for more money. I just suspect now we could have gotten it done if we really wanted to. Of course, he also went onto have additional productive years.
  2. it’s not my “narrative.” I just haven’t seen any evidence of them taking risks on character. You are right— nearly trading for AB may have been the one lone exception. But, if anything, that near miss has probably made them more risk averse. i don’t get why you think I am pushing a narrative. Whatever your opinions or my opinions are of this issue, my point is that there is no evidence of the current FO taking risks on character. There are no guys on this team with character red flags (esp since the Bills own investigation cleared Dodson— the one guy).
  3. i am also a homer. I still even look back at those drought rosters and think, “man, this seems like a good team.” I also had the same pro-RJ and pro-Kelsey views as you, so I won’t repeat them. for me: 1) I was a huge Tom Donahoe fan 2) I was also a big Chan Gailey fan 3) Approved of letting Winfield and Pat Williams walk. 4) Non-Bills take: Ryan Leaf over Peyton Manning
  4. what makes you think this? I have never seen this front office give someone a second chance. They don’t take risks on character.
  5. here is an article. Bills general manager Brandon Beane says a team investigation found no credible evidence of Dodson committing an act of domestic violence. He adds the team's pre-draft evaluation of Dodson showed no history of him getting into legal trouble. https://amp.usatoday.com/amp/40138693 My conjecture of him being cut is pretty obvious. The Bills were not going to keep an undrafted rookie free agent if they discovered he beat up his girlfriend. You can call that Conjecture, but guys on the bubble aren’t really given the benefit of the doubt like your first rounders, etc.
  6. my sense from the Bills is that they might take on a guy with a checkered past so long as that person is fully reformed, and the guy’s priors were not super serious. Hunt‘s prior incident is bad. They probably view it as disqualifying.
  7. The Bills retained Dodson after doing an investigation and finding that the allegations were not credible. If they discovered he committed DV, he would have been cut.
  8. Whatever anyone’s own opinions, does anyone genuinely believe the Bills would actually sign him, based on the team’s focus on character? There is a zero percent chance.
  9. oh wow— so the allure of those Gregg Williams teams drew you in?!
  10. He is much more than a ST gunner. He provides outstanding depth— can play corner and safety. Great signing.
  11. reading some pats beat writers, the thought is that they did regret signing Gilmore, in a certain sense. The pats do a great job of developing their own DB’s. They could have used some Of the Gilmore money to have locked up Jackson earlier at a more reasonable deal. As much as I hate them, the Pats take all these low or undrafted CB’s and develop them into really good cover corners. It’s rare— most teams have to have a 1st or 2nd round pick at one of the starting corner positions. Some teams like the Ravens have to have three first round CB’s out there!
  12. I am surprised that this is news to him. The patriots aren’t overpaying for a CB. They have shown that many times before. i don’t know what they do in NE, but they can draft CB’s and olinemen anywhere in the draft and coach them up into solid players. Even Jackson was an undrafted player himself.
  13. That was no punch! It was a face smoosh.
  14. Straight up first. If he can restructure his deal just a little, there will be teams that would trade a first for him. His contract is the major issue— otherwise, he is worth rolling the dice on the injury front.
  15. They are killing the Babich coaching tree!!!
  16. I think that makes some sense. But Beasley is 33, been hobbled, and is on the last year of his contract. Just sort of seems like an odd asset for the Panthers in their current situation.
  17. I think people are underestimating CMC’s trade value. Beasley, a 3rd, and a 5th? We going to throw in Cody Ford while we are at it? If they move CMC, he will probably net Carolina a 1st round pick and he would probably agree to restructure to make the deal work.
  18. Same. Just a brilliant return. He was such a smooth kick returner. I fully supported his focus on being a CB1— but there were few pure KR’s like him.
  19. Is this Pat shurmur’s nephew, or Mike Shanahan’s second cousin?
  20. 1. You've been a fan since 1987. 2. Your first Bills memory Robb Riddick 1-yard TD dives. 3. One of your favorite Bills memories Flutie naked bootleg for the GW TD against Jax. Was at the game, and the magic was amazing. (Not a favorite, but an indelible one): Coming on this board, which crashed, Right after the MCM. 4. Your favorite player of all time and your favorite player currently... All-time: Bruce Smith (with an honorable mention to Terrance McGee) Current: Josh Allen 5. Some of you guys have some awesome forum names. What does your forum name say about you? I joined here as a lurker “guest” in 1998, and had some boring names for many years. Feel like I hit my stride with Miyagi— favorite movie is Karate Kid, and Mr. Miyagi brings a zen-like calm to this board!
  21. Holy click bait! Matt Stafford as the third best QB in the NFL? He is arguably only the third best QB in his own division!
  22. Even if we were to consider this trade, I don’t think Washington would or could do it. Getting our 25th pick (and any futures) and with their 11th pick, really wouldn’t be worth enough to move very high up in the draft this year. And even if it were, it doesn’t seem like there is much elite QB talent in this draft. i think what WFT is probably thinking is doing Young for Russell Wilson or another existing star.
  23. I don’t believe that he ever said they were “engaged” to begin with. I think he said that she was very “engaging.”
