  1. Arch Ward was also the founder of the All-America Football Conference. The first three teams he contacted to be in his new league were cities that were rejected by the NFL that same year (1944): Los Angeles, San Francisco and Buffalo. That is how the original Buffalo Bills came into existence. Imagine how I feel.
  2. You are correct. Fergy was 38-55 for 419 with 5 TDs and 1 INT in that game. My bad.
  3. No question. Yup. 28-45 for 405 yards, 3 TD, 2 INT That might be a good bye week topic.
  4. Ask and you shall receive... September 13, 1992: Buffalo Bills vs. San Francisco 49ers Next Week: In protest of Buffalo's neutral site game (I refuse to call it a home game), I will not cover a Buffalo team in the HGOTW. I will focus on the Rochester Jefferson's - WNY's first NFL franchise.
  5. They were state champions in 1916. Of course, once they entered the NFL, they pretty much sucked.
  6. That would be a good game to discuss, but since it does not involve a WNY team, I am guessing that you and I would be the only ones having the discussion. I remember seeing a quote from Tittle saying that it was one of his receivers that came up with the idea in the huddle for the Alley Oop pass and that they worked out the details right there. It looks like we will be going with the No Punt game. Just for you, Rock, I am going to do a Rochester Jefferson's game the following week when we play in Toronto.
  7. That game should have been a great one, but the Bills just could not get their offense going.
  8. Time for the 1966 AFL Championship game. Linky Thingy As for next week against the 49ers, I am taking requests. I can do something from the AAFC or something more recent. The only stipulation is that the game must have occurred at least 15 years ago. Unlike the NFL Network, who feel that "classic" games are anything that happened earlier than last week, I have some standards.
  9. The issue would not be what he did in the past, but whether he has current gambling ties. If he still endorses that site, then they would force him to stop his affiliation or reject his group's bid for ownership.
  10. Scrub.
  11. Where is the "All of the Above" option? You can't rest the problems on just one issue. It is a multitude of issues that are causing this losing streak.
  12. No. I think the new Kotite wing is still under construction. The next time I talk with Joe Horrigan, I will find out when construction is scheduled to be complete.
  13. Just sayin' what? Rich Kotite went 29-19 (.604) in his first three years. When is he being inducted into the HOF? Should I ask the Jets? You are proving nothing. You are tossing out a bunch of useless and meaningless stats and saying "See, I'm right."
  14. You are allowed to be wrong. I won't hold it against you. It's just me, but I can't put Unitas ahead of Graham. Maybe, if Unitas didn't have that drop off at the end of his career, I could place him higher. Graham never had that. My list was not in order. I have Graham as 1 and Unitas as 2. After that, would probably be Montana. As far as Favre or Brady, I refuse to rank players before they retire and stay retired.
  15. No problem. You get a pass this time.
  16. It is a real treat to watch him play (no, I am not that old, but I have game films). The way he was able to command the field and just take control of the game was something you will probably never see again. Better than Unitas, Montana, Farve, Brady, etc.
  17. Well, DJ did go 13-3 in 2001. It is not like JF has been able to improve on that. The best JF could do was 13-3. Therefore, DJ=JF.
  18. Ah, the old "I am only going to pick the statistics that help my case and ignore all others" argument. If you want an honest assessment of DJ compared to JF, you need to look at everything. Here are the first nine years of DJ and JF: Dick Jauron Coaching Record: 1999: 6-10 2000: 5-11 2001: 13-3 2002: 4-12 2003: 7-9 2004: {none} 2005: 1-4 2006: 7-9 2007: 7-9 2008: 5-4 TOTAL: 55-71 (0.437) 1 Division Championship 0 Conference Championships Now, Here is Fisher's record over the first 9 years of his career: 1994: 1-5 1995: 7-9 1996: 8-8 1997: 8-8 1998: 8-8 1999: 13-3 2000: 13-3 2001: 7-9 2002: 11-5 TOTAL: 76-58 (0.567) 2 Division Championships 1 Conference Championship Now, the only thing wrong with this comparison is that I am including this year for DJ. I am also including the year that nobody wanted him as a HC. To make up for the year that nobody wanted DJ, I can remove the 2002 season from Fisher's totals to come up with a 65-53 record (0.551), a conference championship and a division title. Otherwise, it is far more insightful than the OP's selective analysis, which is nothing more than comparing apples to watermelons.
  19. I thought so.
  20. There is no question they need a rookie cap. Getting the unions/player agents to buy into it is another story.
  21. You could always switch to XM.
  22. I agree completely. The owners pretty much f'ed themselves on the last deal and the economic downturn amplified the flaws in the last CBA (flaws, at least from the owner's perspective). The issue arises in how the owners and union will work out a new CBA. The major point of contention will hover around a rookie salary cap, IMO.
  23. They are buying on the potential future of a Bill Parcells-run team. The fish have already shown improvement this year, so I am guessing it was not a difficult sell.
