  1. I agree that Saban should be up there, but I doubt it is going to happen anytime soon.
  2. My suggestion would be Van Miller.
  3. None this year. AFL tribute takes center stage, according to our own Lori, who got it directly from a member of the selection committee.
  4. Props to BB for pulling out the Heffelfinger reference. Football trivia: Heffelfinger was the first professional football player (at least, documented pro). Ben "Sport" Donnelly was second. His name was listed below Heffelfinger's in the accounting sheet for the game (see nine rows down on the Accounting Sheet Link below), therefore Donnelly was the second documented pro. 5. Assistant coaches never fully get the credit that they are due. Fortunately, there are some people who realize the true impact that he had on the game. Not many assistant coaches make it into the HOF, but he is definitely deserving. However, he will probably never make it in because the committee is pretty much clueless. RIP J.J.
  6. Details...details...
  7. Ace Parker is still alive. Why don't we get him?
  8. She, on the other hand, might be reconsidering her opinion.
  9. That was my point all along. As far as the commissioner, I guess the upcoming Supreme Court case might have an impact on how the NFL is viewed (single entity, etc).
  10. That I can agree with. I am not sure how much of a case he would have, since he has other options to play football (CFL, UFL, etc.). The NFL is not the only option. While the NFL may be the biggest and best, the commissioner is the ultimate determiner of who gets to play. The owners hired him to do that very job. If an owner or two disagrees with the commissioner, that is their choice. Regardless, the Commissioner is there as long as the owners allow him to be there and if he says that Vick cannot play, Vick does not have much standing legally. Of course, I am not a lawyer, but I would have trouble seeing how the NFL would lose a case like that. Nobody is saying Vick cannot get a job. That does not mean that Vick has a right to whatever job he wants.
  11. You said I had a Constitutional right to the job. You lied to me.
  12. Cool. Call the Bills. Since I have a Constitutional right to play for them, it should not be a problem.
  13. Point to me where in the Constitution it says that he has a right to play in the NFL.
  14. Do I also have the constitutional right to play in the NFL? You are going a little overboard here. Vick doesn't have the constitutional right to play in the NFL.
  15. They also create their own "rescue" groups. They take in the dogs (from shelters, owner abandonment, etc) and immediately start training them to fight. They advertise as a rescue, but it is just a front.
  16. I have added two new articles to the Two Bills Drive Football History section, both dealing with the Rochester Jeffersons. Part 1 focuses on the 1920 season. Part 2 focuses on the 1921 season. The Rochester Jeffersons Take to the National Stage (Part 1) The Rochester Jeffersons Take to the National Stage (Part 2) You can see the rest of the History section at: Two Bills Drive Football History Section
  17. That is where you are going to have the problem. If you show the Bills or NFL logo, you can't sell it without permission.
  18. Thank you. As you can see from my sig, football history is more than just an interest...it is a passion.
  19. Here are the references to Pollard passing (from the PFRA archives): He primarily lined up as a tailback. He also lined up as a blocking back when not lined up as a tailback. October 16, 1921 Akron Pros vs. Detroit Tigers Pollard touchdown pass to Carl Cramer October 18, 1925 Akron Pros vs. Canton Bulldogs Pollard 55-yard touchdown pass to James Robertson Pollard 12-yard touchdown pass to Obie Newman November 1, 1925 Dayton Triangles vs. Akron Pros Pollard touchdown pass to Red Daum December 6, 1925 Green Bay Packers vs. Providence Steamroller Pollard intercepted by Ed Kotal and returned 60 yards for a touchdown September 25, 1926 Akron Indians vs. Frankford Yellowjackets Pollard 45-yard touchdown pass to Nat McCombs If you want to consider a tailback as a quarterback, then Pollard was the first black quarterback in the NFL.
  20. Pollard was a halfback. In those days, however, halfbacks also threw passes. Regardless, it would be a stretch to call him the first black quarterback. Bobby Marshall was also in the NFL when Pollard was there (starting in 1920), but he played end. Rochester's own Henry McDonald also played pro ball, but never as a QB. EDIT: I will go through the boxscores of the games played by Pollard to see if he lined up at QB at any point during his NFL career. I don't think so, but I could be wrong.
  21. I agree with everything you have said. You are an author. You have felt what it is like to have your work stolen. The same has happened to me. More needs to be done to prevent that type of thing, but to take it to the extreme of not allowing links, that is overboard.
  22. Hammer. Duh.
  23. It's a friggin' video game. Get over yourself.
  24. Who is saying you would win.
  25. Only if it is a fight to the death.
