  1. You are going to read the article before responding? I think you are on the wrong board.
  2. So, what you are saying is that Republicans are just as hypocritical as the Democrats? Wow. Next, you will say that water is wet. Thanks, Dr. Obvious.
  3. It depends on the song and the way the bass is played. I am from the Squire/Lee school where the bass plays a strong part in the song. The problem is, that you have the people who think ability equates to the number of notes that you play. It is not the number of notes, but the notes that you play and how they fit into the song. A good bass player will not overpower the song (unless the bass is intended to lead, ala Stanley Clarke). They will create the bridge between the guitar and drums, filling in the song.
  4. I am a bass player and I agree with some of the comments above. While an instructional book is good, you need to get the kid a teacher in order to develop proper technique. Don't let him form bad habits. It is much more difficult to break those habits later on. If you have any other questions, let me know.
  5. So, he will overturn Roe because Bush is pro-life. You need to do better than that, counselor. You look at his court opinions to determine his process at reaching his decisions. As you mentioned before, historically some justices have not voted the way that they were originally portrayed. There is nothing to say that Roberts will overturn Roe based on the fact that Bush nominated him. Again, let history be your guide.
  6. What data do you have to back this up?
  7. What, in his previous opinions, leads you to believe this?
  8. I have caught the homebrew beer bug. While my American Amber Ale is conditioning, should I brew a Belgian Wit or trippel next?
  9. VA is really 6'3" tall.
  10. Against my better judgment, I am going to weigh in on this. Some on the left want to scare people into thinking that if a pro-life person is nominated to the courts, that the apocalypse will be upon us. The “party of tolerance” wants to make sure that pro-life people are banned from the court because they could possibly overturn Roe v. Wade. The right states that even if Roe v. Wade is overturned, it just reverts back down to the states for legislation. What is missing in all of this is that Congress can write and pass any legislation, regardless of Supreme Court decisions. This applies to the federal as well as state level. If the legislature wanted to outlaw abortions tomorrow, they can do that. If they wanted to write the “Protection of Babies Act,” they can do that as well.
  11. Kick its azz, Chris!!
  12. The legislators voted themselves a pay raise. Instead of it being a normal salary increase, they made it "unvouchered expenses" or some crap like that. This way, they do not have to wait until the next general assembly session to get the money. They get it immediately. We are talking an increase of between 16 and 28%, depending on what your status is in the legislature.
  13. People are leaving the Big Two and going with a different party (the Libertarians) because they are ticked off at what the Big Two are doing to the states and the country. They want them out of power and to send them a message and the best way to do that is support third party candidates. I see this on a daily basis in the work I am doing with the Libertarians. Hell, over the weekend, we saw five people in one county change their voter registration from R/D to Libertarian just over the pay raises here in PA. People are tired of the crap.
  14. Who, on the left, do you feel has the best chance to win if not Kerry, Hillary or Edwards? I agree with you that Kerry has no shot. He was a failure as a candidate in 2004 and he has basically done nothing to improve things since then. Of course, as long as the right keeps sending out people like Bush and the left keeps sending out people like Kerry, the third parties will continue to benefit. There is a reason why the Libertarian Party is growing faster than either the Dems or Republicans.
  15. 1. The person with the most cowbell. 2. Walt Coleman comes out onto the field for the coin toss, trips and falls, hits his head on the turf knocking him unconsious and he is replaced as ref. 3. Body Count: Body Count 4. Turn signals on a car. (friggin commute this morning ) 5. DC Tom...BFiI
  16. Careful, or he will break a bottle of pickle juice over your head at the next tailgate.
  17. I may be easy, but I am not cheap. Besides, I am not sure I want to go through this again, for any amount of money.
  18. How would you deal with a contractor who refuses to finish the work he was paid to do?
  19. Because guns are bad, hospitals are not.
  20. I just started homebrewing. I will be bottling the first batch this weekend (American Amber Ale). I will then try either a Belgian Wit or try to make a clone of Chimay Blue (Belgium).
  21. Rumor has it that he was going to announce his retirement at the end of last week. That was, until the London bombings. He probably did not do it earlier for fear of taking over the spotlight from O'Connor.
  22. I used to work with a guy from Belgium. It always pissed him off when we referred to him as "Frenchie" or that Belgium was just a state of France.
