  1. I spent 2.5 weeks in that hell hole and couldn't wait to get out. We spoke the language, we were courteous, we were friendly and they still treated us like crap. They randomly canceled our hotel reservations (we get back to the hotel and they say "you need to leave because we want to put someone else in your room"). This was in a small town about 2 hours away from Paris. They were also nasty in Paris. I have no desire to go back there.
  2. Eliminating the real estate tax and replacing it with a consumption tax is a good idea, but I have not seen the actual legislation so I cannot say if I am in full agreement. The concept is good, IMO.
  3. We need to protect their feelings.
  4. I think that have moved beyond "displeased."
  5. If they are happy with the current situation, why are they bombing the sh-- out of stuff? They need to be at least "displeased" with the current situation in order to be blowing sh-- up. I thought that "displeased" was less harsh than "upset" or even "mad." You are correct that overall they may be happy people, but I still stand by my description.
  6. You need some unpronouncable symbol for that name? Also, the word "terrorists" is too harsh. It might hurt someone's feelings. Try "people who are displeased with the current situation."
  7. No. Right now, I am focused on writing legislation for PA. I have a bill that is pretty close to being finished (by the end of this month). There are a few more in the wings, but it may be about a month before they are finished. One in the wings deals with eminent domain. I am trying to work with a PA senator on writing the bill, but I am not sure how far that will go. I may go for broke and do the Constitutional Amendment route.
  8. Yes, they are arguing over the difference between bombers and terrorists.
  9. What is wrong with rewarding them for their support? Sounds like good marketing to me.
  10. He is going to have a little trouble with the "no court case" part. Eliminating parole and early release can be OK, even though some will object to that as well. Did I ever tell you that some in the Libertarian Party have been trying to draft me to run for U.S. Senate against Santorum?
  11. That is what she claims.
  12. It is just a temp job.
  13. Funny, I thought that Congress was responsible for the money. Wow, you learn something new everyday.
  14. The Arafat treatment? You mean he is going to get the Nobel Peace Prize?
  15. So, where was she wrong?
  16. Fortunately, we have you and your gaseous emissions to set us straight.
  17. The outsiders are losing support. As far as the rest, I am guessing that it depends on what part of the country you are in.
  18. You have a point with that. I guess they figured that people would not pay that close of attention to it.
  19. I thought it had a pretty good explanation of how terrorist networks are made up and how the leadership insulates themselves from the actual operations.
  20. I saw that as well. Very good movie.
  21. I agree. The radicals are the problem. I just think that there are still people who feel that Muslims are not doing enough. If the UK Muslim organizations quickly denounced the attacks, then that is a great first step. As VA mentioned, more still needs to be done. Cutting off of funding is a great step. Continuing to publically denounce the radicals is another step that needs to be taken. It cannot just be after an attack, but a continual presence. Don't let people forget what the radicals do to people, including other Muslims. Being a devout Muslim will not protect you from them. They will die just as quickly as the "infidels."
  22. Mmmm...hot apple pie...<drool>
  23. I guess I read it differently from you, but I thought that Bill was referring to the fact that Muslims are not doing enough to condem the acts of the radicals. Whether they are victims of yesterday or not, really has no bearing on what Bill was saying if I am reading his post correctly.
  24. Only one game: Bills at Philly. I personally did not have a problem, but a friend of mine did. After the game, a woman and her extremely drunk boyfriend saw my buddy and his Bills shirt (the Bills won 10-7, IIRC). She kept egging on her boyfriend to beat the hell out of my buddy for being a Bills fan. Fortunately, this guy was too drunk to do anything and was substantially smaller than my buddy and nothing happened. The woman was not happy that nothing happened. Otherwise, no big deal. Like previous posters have said: if you behave yourself, you will be fine. When you get obnoxious about the Bills in their stadium, you are in trouble.
