Get extra cheese and it will be a landslide.

Nope. Just a generic pennant for the city.

Usually, you cannot buy one channel (unless it is a movie channel like HBO). It will be packaged with other sports channels (Golf channel, Fox Sports, etc).

Is Mel's drunken diatribe newsworthy?
KRC replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I think we are splitting hairs here. Mel Gibson's intent has not changed. The message he sent when he release the film has not changed. Regardless of whether we are talking about art or not, his message has not changed. The only thing that has changed is how you have interpreted his message. Let's use your example: If someone were to call you an **** and you have no history with that person, you would be offended. After you get to know that person and they call you an ****, you will see that it is a term of endearment. Has the original message changed (term of endearment) or has your interpretation of the message changed (offended to not offended)? IMO, the message being sent is independent of the way it is interpreted. The same message can (and will) have different meanings to different people. Does that mean that he is sending out multiple messages? I would say no. He is sending out one message. The interpretations are numerous. This happened when he first released the Passion. Some people took it one way (anti-Semetic). Others did not see it that way at all. Has his message changed? No. -

There is no question that he is a brand name. Disney will probably dump him (they may have already, I have not been following it). You also have to look at the publicity he has generated over this. There will be people protesting his next movie (and probably all subsequent movies). Would those protests backfire and bring more people out to see his movies? -

The message he sent was the same. The difference is your perspective on the stituation. -

He has a right to say it, just like people have the right to criticize him for saying it. He will also pay a price for saying it, as he should. Is it newsworthy? For a moment it is newsworthy. Is it worth a lot of news coverage? No. -
So, you condemn Hezb'Allah for their tactics in their fight with Israel?
-
You make a statement and now you don't want to talk about your statement?
-
Hezb'Allah seems to be doing pretty well with rockets. Of course, that is OK, since the brave "freedom fighters" are hiding behind women and children while firing those rockets. Those big bad Israelis are just not playing fair.

Why do they need to have an Air Force before you are allowed to bomb them?

Where was the outcry from the African-American community when a white guy used the N-word? -

So much for that Presidential run. -
Signed in 1960. 93 carries for 370 yards that year. Ruptured his Achilles in 1961. Tried out in 1964, but his injury was too severe.

You have to talk to the boss about that. I am not an Admin, only a mod.

As predicted, China is starting to warm up to 5-party talks. Previously, they refused to participate in them, saying that it is 6-party talks or nothing. Now, they are "flexible" in participating in them. According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the 5-party talks "wouldn’t mean that we’re holding a new kind of negotiation, it’s just the way for everyone to exchange views about shared concerns." This is their attempt to soften the blow of holding talks without the DPRK.

Memories of first year engineering school. Couple of suggestions: -Large disc for a parachute. One guy used a 6 foot balsawood disk with cloth in the center. The thing was so light, it took 20 minutes to make the 15 foot drop. -Suspend the egg in a bungi-type net in the center of the device. Make sure the body of the device can withstand the impact of the drop and that the full extension of the bungi device is less than the distance to the bottom of the device. Use a parachute to slow down the rate of descent. The contraption lands and the egg is cradled in the bungi device. Combine the two above, and you are guaranteed a successful drop.

The latest I have heard is that it is looking like the six parties may meet on Friday afternoon at ASEAN.

...but, does he still have to pay when he admitted that he DID NOT use your site? If anything, he should send the $0.02USD to me, because I did the work for him.

The stuff that he does is ingrained into their philosophies. These tactics go back to when Kim Il-Song first took over in 1948. These actions are perfectly rational to him and not out of the ordinary.

They really are not calling the shots. Sanctions via the UN resolution, sanctions applied by the U.S. and Japan, the effects of PSI, cuts in aid by the ROK are all signs that they are not in control, along with numerous other thingies. Their refusal to attend talks has forced the other partners to take action against the DPRK, not just the U.S. Even though the DPRK refuses to attend talks, that has not stopped (an actually intensified) other avenues to resolve the situation. Expect to see additional actions out of the partners if this drags on further. The main thing is making sure that the DPRK is the one portrayed as the party unwilling to negotiate (and that is readily apparent right now). That requires patience. When Bush first started, the world opinion was that the U.S. was the one to blame for the problem. This was also a hold-over view from the previous unnamed administration and continued into Bush Part Deux. It was one of the items Bush focused on and it took a while to convince the international community that the U.S. was not to blame. Kim is not crazy. Crazy means irrational behavior. Their behavior is not irrational, but highly calculated. Sorry. Just a pet peeve of mine. China and Russia have already started doing things (and Bush is still in office). There has been a dramatic shift in their attitudes over the last several years. The sanctions applied by them over the last few weeks send a pretty good message to the DPRK that China and Russia are changing their tune. Combine that with the ROK cutting aid and the message is loud and clear. The DPRK is now calculating their next move. Sending a statement out of ASEAN would be the likely first step to test the waters for future actions by the DPRK.

That is exactly what they want you to believe. It is done on purpose to wear down the other negotiating partners and to force them into giving the DPRK more concessions. Again, there is no clear beginning, middle and end to the negotiations. There is no linear progression. They want you to think that you are starting all over again and that all of your efforts have been wasted. They want you to think that things are the same (if not worse) than when you started. The only way you can really tell that progress is being made is to analyze daily statements from the DPRK and watch for trends and shifts in their rhetoric. You especially need to pay close attention to their rhetoric immediately after U.S. statements and demands and how it may or may not shift over the subsequent weeks when they monitor the reactions of the U.S. to counter statements and demands. This happens both during the negotiating sessions and outside of the talks. The changes can be subtle, but they say a lot about their willingness to negotiate and their willingness to back off of their demands. You are not going to get that type of analysis from the mainstream media or talking heads becuase it is too much effort. I have had to do that myself and that is how I have come to the conclusions that I have expressed here and elsewhere. Japan is taking a lead in pushing the DPRK. They are the ones who pushed for the UN resolution and they are the ones who refused to accept a resolution that did not contain sanctions. China steadfastly refused any sort of sanctions, either through the UN or elsewhere. They have now come around. Russia will just follow China. The ROK still thinks the appeasement route is the way to go. They are continually getting screwed, but are firm in appeasing the DPRK. As elections get closer, however, you will see a shift in Korean policy. That is exactly what is happening in Japan right now, which is why you are seeing the tougher talk out of them.
