Jeff Hoestettler and Mark Rypien have Super Bowl Rings. Dan Marino does not.

Breaking the law is breaking the law. If you do not like the law, get it changed. Do not ignore the laws.
-
Why not? Because it does not give you the outcome you want? Illegal is illegal, regardless of how you want to spin it. It is not about winning and losing. It is about upholding the laws of our country. You cannot pick and choose which laws you decide to obey. If they want to integrate into society, they need to become law-abiding citizens of that society. Again, we cannot have people pick and choose which laws they decide to obey.
-
Quick question...If someone is here illegally, how can they also be called a "law-abiding citizen?" Is there a quota on how many laws must be broken before they lose the "law-abiding citizen" monikor? (OK, that was two questions)

I thought you would enjoy it.

Wits and Hefes are good. You might be able to get away with an alt, but it starts to border on being too heavy depending on how it is brewed. I had a couple bottles of a Dusseldorf alt last night and I probably would not drink it on a hot day. My Northern German alt, however, is very light and refreshing (1.004 FG). The FG puts me slightly out of style, but it is hidden. Very refreshing.

IMO, price has nothing to do with it. I have had many expensive beers that taste like crap. I have also had cheap beers that taste like crap. Price does not determine quality.
-
Yup. I would crack open a Saison. Cold, light and refreshing. Can't beat it on a hot summer day. I have a magnum bottle of Victory's V-Saison in the fridge, waiting for the first week of steady 90+ degree days. Saison description

Are you willing to post recipies (or send via PM)?

...and that would be a good thing. Congressional representation has morphed into something that would have embarassed the founding fathers. The whole thing needs a major overhaul, or to just be scrapped and started over. Of course, we all know that will never happen, so voting the bums out would be a good first move. Making issues of this stupid stuff makes the Dems focus on it and the Reps will use it to keep the Dems focused on it. The Dems then need to scramble to find out what their position should be to get the most number of votes. This creates a divide within the party. A divided party will not win. Smart move for the Reps. Does it accomplish anything other than help Reps keep power? Nope. Should the Reps be more focused on things that are actually important? Yup. Will it happen? Nope. Meaningful work requires tough and not always popular decisions. There is no way in hell that anyone will tackle anything of any importance or substance until the elections are over. Therefore, you are stuck with stupid crap until at least the middle of November.

The case for the wmd's preemptive iraq war
KRC replied to cromagnum's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
He has been equally vocal about ripping anything with bias, regardless of whether he agrees with the position. Nice try. You win nothing. -
Where did I say anything about the issues being important? You said it yourself, it is being used to drum up the base (of both parties). It seems like you are making my point for me. Thank you.

Now this is friggin scary: Linky Thingy

It's Official...(for those who don't PPP)

I finally got a response from Fitzpatrick: -
Belgian Wit. Good stuff for summer. Light and refreshing. I agree with BillsFanNC on the Blanche De Chambly. Hoegaarden has been purchased by the European equivalent of Anheuser-Busch and has been dumbed down (they deny it, but it is not as good as it used to be). It is still better than Blue Moon, but that is not saying much. Go with the Blanche De Chambly if you want a Belgian Wit. Darin's suggestion of Chimay Grande Reserve is a good one, but it is Belgian Dark Strong Ale and not a Belgian Wit. I think Premier sells a 12oz for $6.50. I suggest you get one and let it sit in your fridge until winter. This is a beer that improves with age (up to about 10 years if stored properly). As it ages, it will take on more sherry or port-like qualities. Wonderful beer and you should really do yourself a favor and get a bottle. Savor the flavors. If you want suggestions on other styles, I would be more than happy to recommend something for you. All of these beers you can buy at Premier Gourmet on Delaware Ave. I always stop in there to stock up when I am in town.

Since when have congresscritters actually cared about things that matter a lot to their constituents?
-
Have you noticed what the Republicans have been doing of late? They have been forcing the Democrats to actually take stands on issues. They brought up the flag vote, the Iraq vote and the gay marriage vote (I think there were other issues, but I cannot think of them right now). This is the last thing that the Dems want going into mid-term elections. They just wanted to bash the Reps without standing for anything. Now, they will have a record for which the Reps can bash them. Smart move.

He couldn't attract the southern vote last time, what makes this time any different? He only won South Carolina and lost all of the other primaries (thoughout the country) to either Kerry or Clark (some, by an overwhelming margin).

Did you read this part of your quoted section: You make this out as a major attack on the Exclusionary, but then quote an opinion stating that this is so minor that it does not warrant suppressing the evidence.
-
Also from Wilson: From Thomas, who wrote the opinion...
-
As I mentioned previously, knock and announce was not required before this ruling and it is not required now. Knock and announce was not stated in the exclusionary rule and it still is not mentioned in the exclusionary rule now. Your response still does not answer my question. Which would be correct. The validity of the search depends on obtaining a warrant and obtaining it properly. Once the warrant is issued, it does not matter if the police politely knock on the door and ask permission to gather the evidence.
-
Could you explain to me how this is a "direct assault on the Exclusionary Rule?" Here is the text from your link to help with your answer: BTW, according to Wilson v. Arkansas, "knock and announce" is not mandatory.

As if your other MM diatribes didn't already do that...

His stance on guns (only cops should have them), his whole fiasco with the mistriss and the uncertainty of his health (prostate cancer). There are others, but those are the main reasons why I do not like him. These will be problems with conservatives. Conservatives will also not like the pro-choice stance or his stance on gay marriage (liberal tendencies). Personally, I am pro-choice and have no problem with gays legally marrying, so this is not an issue for me.

Of the three Dems mentioned, Hillary would win. Not by much, mind you. It is just a bad crop of "name" people. As Coli mentioned, Obama is still an election cycle or two away from being a contender. Of course, they might just try Obama as VP to raise his stock for the next presidential election. That would be the smart move, which means that the Dems will probably NOT do it. With Gore, it all depends on the sustainability of his movie. He should have released it later to keep momentum going, if he decides that he wants to run. Frankly, I do not see him getting the nod. While he is not a current pol, he is too far removed from it to win the nomination. He just pops up to bash Bush, then disappears for a while. At least Gingrich keeps himself in front of the cameras, which is why he would do well in the primaries. Warner is a possiility, but I do not think that he has enough to beat out the name candidates. Clinton and Gore would hit him hard with the "lack of experience" angle.
