  1. If you are going with Wade as HC prob need some slight shifts to the Defense. Maybe add Ted Washington from 2000? And Kelsey as an OLB, obviously lol
  2. Good call on McGee for Mclovin. Didn't fully think that through. Also I can see Watkins for Moulds, but in 2002 Moulds was in his prime and at his peak, I don't think Watkins has gotten there yet, hence the slight edge. In regards to McCoy over Freddie, Fred had the better stats all the way around: 5.5yds avg. 93yds a game. 6tds in 10 games with another 442 yards coming through the air. Shady was at: 4.4yds a game, 75 yds a game, 4tds in 12 games and 292 in the air. (2 more tds receiving though) I think there is an argument that Spiller should be in over McCoy. Or maybe Marshawn? Are there any better options at QB? I think Tyrod gets the nod because he hasn't proved he is horrible yet, and last year may have been our best year of QB play in the past 16 years In regards to HC. I think there is an argument for Marrone as HC with Greg Roman as OC and Schwartz as DC, but I couldn't bear to have St. Doug on the team. Hence I went with what was probably our best offensive coach and defensive coach.
  3. Hey everyone, in the doldrums of the offseason I thought it might be fun to see if we can build a Superbowl contender (ok maybe only a playoff team) using only Bills players and coaches from 2000 onwards. Build out your starting lineup +1 flex player from any bills players between those years, but remember the player you choose is from a specific year (meaning for you Flutie fans out there, 2000 Doug was certainly not at his peak). Looking forward to hearing the debate and seeing what people think! My "super team" is below: Head Coach: Chan Gailey (guy had a fun offence just never a defence and there is SLIM pickings for HC) Offensive Coordinator: Chan will handle this too Defensive Coordinator: Schwartz (His D added to Chan's offense would be enough to at least get us in the Playoffs, right??) Offense: QB: Tyrod Taylor RB: "FredEx" (2011) -He had 5.5 yds per carry average, so he edges Shady IMO) RB2: Shady (2015) WR: Eric Moulds (2002) -10tds 1,200 yds- WR2: Sammy Watkins (2015) WR3: Lee Evans (2006) TE: Charles Clay (2015 tough one to call here) LT: Jason Peters (2006) LG: Andy Levitre (He was really good in 2011) C: Eric Wood (2011) RG: Richie Incognito (2015) RT: Brad Butler (2009 Remember him? all Joe team in '09. Not sure who the right pick is. I feel it is ok to swap LG vs RG but LT to RT feels like cheating) Defense (I set up a 4-3 for Schwartz): LE: Mario Wiliams (2014) DT: Kyle Williams (2014 DT2: Marcel Dareus (2014) RE: Aaron Schobel (2006 14 sacks 0_o ) LOLB: Takeo Spikes (2003) MLB: London Fletcher (2006 4int 157 tackles) ROLB: Kiko Alonzo (2013) CB: Gilmore (2015) CB2: Terrence McGee (2004) CB:3 Darby (2015) FS: Jairus Byrd (2009) SS: Aaron Williams (2013) K: Ryan Lindell (2008) P: Brian Moorman (2005) KR: Leodis Mcklevin (2012)
  4. RIP Buddy. Now I am really glad Rob joined the staff this year. Rough losing a parent but at least Rex and Rob are able to lean on one another afterwards.
  5. Totally agree. Been stalking this board since the JP Losman days because there is always stuff like this i would not have found otherwise.
  6. I was thinking the same thing regarding David Harris. Definitely some similarities there. Hopefully he can be as good if not better in the near future. *edit* Now we just need to find our version of Bart Scott. Need that "vocal leader" haha
  7. Are you really trying knock him for not having more sure fire superstars after he oversaw exactly 1 draft? By comparison buddy had 3 drafts. I would sure hope he drafted more of the stars on the team. Edit* I realize he oversaw the most recent draft as well but we have no idea how this one turned out yet.
  8. I find it comical that no one ever admits to leaving! Whenever this topic comes up everyone stayed for the whole game. I've watched the replay of the game and there were very few Bills fans who stayed. Although I was not at the game (too young) I probably would have left. I was at the raiders game this year and I left before the bills made it respectable. I guess the bill's disappointments have lead me to be a bit of a pessimist when it comes to football.
  9. As an individual who works in PR- there is no way he wrote that all by himself......
  10. I think you would have to say that it does. Also, I find it hard to believe that the Pats got caught the only two times they cheated. Reason says they cheated on other occasions and got away with it. And that brings all of their success into some level of uncertainty.
  11. I don't quite get everyones negative reaction. His statement doesn't seem over the top. In a game as close as that super bowl- isn't it fair of him to wonder if the pats having their calls was the difference in the game? I took it as a truly honest reaction. I think anyone who has competed at a high level would understand his response. Should he have said it? Maybe not- but I don't believe it is ridiculous in any way.
  12. Assuming you are counting Mario and Hughes (if resigned) as LB ala a 34 alignment, you are still leaving one of of our best players in Marcel or Kyle off the field. Seems silly to me.
  13. I hope it is Todd Bowles as well. I feel like it would be incredibly frustrating if you were Pepper and you KNEW the only reason you were getting interviewed was to fulfill the requirement and had no real shot at getting the job. I suppose you could argue he gets good practice or whatever, but still that would have to be frustrating.
  14. Good point on the Rams. Forgot he was their OC after the Broncos debacle. To be honest one of the things from his tenure in Denver was when he played the hoodie with a clearly inferior team and won. Perhaps that one vivid memory clouds my opinion of him a touch. Like I said before, he wouldn't be my preference, that said- I don't know if he would be any less of a risk than Schwartz.
  15. I don't quite get the McDaniels hate. I don't really want him but I don't see it as the end of the world if he was the choice. He ran some productive offenses in Denver with Tebow and Orton and has consistently helped the *Patriots adapt based on their offensive weapons which tells me he is a good offensive mind. Sure he seemed like an egomaniac in Denver getting rid of Cutler and Marshall but the Cutler trade doesn't look nearly as bad as it once did and perhaps he has learned a thing or two from his train wreck in Denver. I would at least give him a chance. All this discussion said, my gut tells me Schwartz is the most probable candidate. He is the most likely to heal the wounds of Marrone's "We are a Family"...until i throw a tantrum and flip the bird to the organization on my way out. That is going to hurt the locker room, how can it not? Which is also why I would be ok with Rexy because despite his other flaws he NEVER lost the locker room and I think I would be the kind of coach who could turn that rift into motivation. IMO
  16. I think you are all overplaying the 4-3 to 3-4 thing. Rex is widely regarded as a great D coach regardless of what people think of him as a head coach and you don't get that title without being willing to adapt some. Plus, his disciple Pettine was able to use our current pieces to good effect. I would have no worries handing this D to Rex, it would still be a great D (arguably better because I think he has a better resume as a D coordinator than Schwartz) The questions with Ryan are his ability to coach the offense and develop talent.
  17. I would also be pretty OK with Rex. Can you imagine what would happen in Rex came here and St. Doug went to the Jets? That would make those games awfully juicy. Rex seems like a bit of a blowhard, but I think he is a good coach. He Is a great Defensive coach and I think is the kind of guy who only lets the Offense play to its talent. He never had much talent on that side of the Ball but the years they had decent talent (Santonio, Keller, Braylen, LT and good Oline) they were very competitive and got to 2 AFC championship teams. When I think about it, can I really imagine those teams going any further than that? I don't think so. With the talent level that is about all you could hope for.
  18. Seems like we are all in agreement on Schwartz haha The frustrating thing to me at least is I had just started to come around to Marrone. Haven't really liked him since they hired him, but he did get a winning record despite having no QB. And now, I HATE him.
  19. With Topics Started talking about various individual coaching candidates I was curious where you all stood in general on coaching candidates. So I am asking you all to name a coach for three categories and explaining why. Dream Coach: the coach you would pick if you could have anyone that is within the realm of possibility. Eh: The coach you would be OK with. Not excited, but not upset. Kind of a wait and see kind of guy. HELL NO: Self explanatory, basically the guy you would hate as the option, any coach over this guy is preferable in your mind. I'll start off. Dream Coach: Adam Gaze. The Bills Desperately need an Offense. He has shown the ability to have success with QBs who have different levels of skills. I think the D will be good with most D Coordinators, not to discredit Schwartz, but if he leaves I think a decent coordinator will keep this unit performing at a high level due to the talent on that side of the ball. So if we can find an offense we will make the playoffs IMO Eh: Schwartz, Good D coordinator but he had a rough run in Detroit. Not confident he can develop an offense and the biggest knock against him is what Detroit has done this year. With a similar team Caldwell has taken the Lions to the Playoffs. Maybe Schwartz learns from previous positions and joins the rank of those who get a second chance and become great coaches but I am not sold. HELL NO: Mike Shanahan. I think his achievements are greatly overrated due to the talent he had on his Superbowl teams. His tenure in DC was bad and he seemed to have really lost it. Idk, I just don't trust him as a coach. It would reek of desperation to me because he would expect a lot of power. What say you? Flame on.
  20. I was sitting in the same area and saw Kyle being pulled but didn't catch it early enough to see who Kyle was talking to. Kyle was MAD though. I think I feel the most bad for Kyle after today. Great player always stuck on a non playoff team.
  21. I am still not over how much our best D lineman sits on the sideline on BIG 3rd down plays. Mario was sitting on the sideline for just about every big 3rd down the Raiders converted.
  22. Here, here. Maybe it it naivety, and foolish hopefulness, but we can do better than Marrone. Anyone think the Bills don't make the playoff with this exact roster and Chip Kelly or Bruce Arians at the helm? How about Any Reid? In my opinion we can say with some confidence there are 10 coaches who get this team with its current talent to the playoffs and many others that are debateable.
  23. We should probably consider him, but different OC and OLine coach may = Titan's level production. He seemed to fit well in Chan's blocking scheme.
  24. I believe That if KC wins we are pretty much done. Because if they do 2 AFC North teams would have to go 0-2 for us to get in because either they or the Chargers would beat us on tie breakers. Correct me if I am wrong.
