  1. Don't know how many times you've met him (I'm thinking you haven't) but if there is one thing fans don't have to worry about with EJ it's him having a tender psyche. But your straw man game is strong, I'll give you that much.
  2. Hadn't looked at it that way; strong post.
  3. Just my take: It was called a TD on the field and that photo shows nothing to justify overturning it.
  4. NFL officiating is absolutely terrible. I don't think the fix is in, I think it's simple incompetence. Made up my mind after yesterday's Bills game: I'll watch the Super Bowl because the party I go to is awesome, but otherwise, if the Bills aren't playing, I won't sit and watch an NFL game. I still don't know who won the Bolts-Pats game. And honestly, I don't really care.
  5. If AJ Hawk growls really loudly when Orton breaks the huddle, he'll probably get Orton to turn his back to the OL and wait to be sacked before the ball's even snapped. I'd much rather watch a young guy struggle than a 10-year vet puke on himself all day.
  6. Despite not even having played a full season (14 games), EJ has similar career stats (completion %, TD:INT ratio, average yds per attempt, etc). He does have something Orton doesn't: potential. If you fail to acknowledge that, you probably have issues that cannot be adequately addressed on a message board.
  7. And here it is: AP NFL ‏@AP_NFL 4m4 minutes ago Bills receiver Mike Williams ruled out from playing at Denver because of calf injury http://apne.ws/1CNMGom
  8. It's a mystery why he's not playing and I don't get it either but it's not like they owe us some sort of explanation. Think about this potential scenario: Coaches come out and say Williams still cannot grasp the offense and therefore imply he's not too bright. What would that do to potential trade value?
  9. He isn't eligible to return until Week 16 at Oakland due to the IR designation rules per the Chris Brown story linked to above by 26CB.
  10. Haven't you ever heard players and coaches saying the primary thing a defensive player has to do is worry about his own assignment and trust his teammates will be where they're supposed to be? But I get it, Gilmore sucks. Even when he doesn't.
  11. Maybe it wasn't "help." Maybe AW was supposed to pick him up in a deeper zone. That would mean Gilmore played it right by staying home but AW blew it. I don't, of course, know if that was the case. And neither do you.
  12. One of the benefits of watching games with the Bills Backers of Virginia is that it's so loud we can't hear the announcers.
  13. And with all those tragic things happening you're talking about the people talking about what color the crowd in Detroit, Michigan is going to wear! The irony is rich.
  14. The Bills are responsible for snow removal and could hire dump trucks; the county wouldn't be involved at all. Not living up there anymore, I am basing this opinion on the pictures, news reports, forecast, and resilience of WNYers: I don't believe that, from an emergency response standpoint, the county would have a reason to withhold sheriff's deputies from a Bills game nine days from now. I don't want to issue any proclamations, but I will be very surprised if they don't play the browns at the RWS.
  15. All of the Toronto Series and JBJ stuff aside, Rogers Centre already pulled their football turf up. Also, consider the passport issues for players, coaches, and staff that the Jets (much less new/rookie Bills) would only have a couple of days to resolve.
  16. Others may have already hit upon it, but a snow-free field under a dome wouldn't accomplish much if nobody could get to it.
  17. Lewis was let go for coming into camp and playing terribly, not because of his W-L record as a starter.
  18. Nobody is a bigger EJ fan or Orton realist than me. But I think they were looking for a spark, not to save their jobs. As for Orton, he won and had a couple of good games. I thought some posters went a bit overboard on Orton and ignored that he already defined the type of player he is over the past decade, but the guy did make some plays and it was fun. I'm okay with him finishing the season (barring further regression in his play) so EJ can continue to observe and learn from him. After all, regardless of whether a fan loves or hates EJ, it's in the the team's best interest if EJ learns from Orton and then blows him away in camp next year.
  19. How do you know they haven't worked on it? I can promise you that Marrone, a guy who has spent every fall since he was a kid on a football field, knows a little something about fundamentals. I do agree that Lombardi, Brown, and Saban would shake their heads at this year's Bills - just as they would with 31 other NFL teams. That's because the CBA limits camp so much they can't spend a lot of time on fundamentals. But if you know fundamentals as a fan, shouldn't a player who is being paid be expected to have picked them up somewhere in, I dunno... High school? College? Pop Warner?
  20. Apples and oranges, isn't it? One guy said unflattering things and signed for more money in a start-up league and the other said unflattering things and has whupped the Bills for over a decade. That said, I'd take the trophy with Brady but it would be kind of bittersweet in a way.
  21. I'd consider giving up a couple of firsts and Sammy just to see that.
