Frank Gore is a freak and I love him
Big C replied to dollars 2 donuts's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Frank Gore has not been a "wow" player, but he is a damn workhorse. He is uber reliable and has lasted way longer than most at his position. If the Niners had won that Super Bowl, his HOF status would not be in question. Maybe a little bit of an odd comparison, but when you watch Tom Brady play, you're never like "holy hell, how did he do that!?" You're just like "welp, there he goes, moving the ball at will." And we see Brady, well passed the average age for a QB in the NFL, doing what he's always been doing because it doesn't rely on athleticism. Frank Gore is the same way. He just finds a way to move the ball forward, no matter what. He won't bust a 75-yard TD run, but he'll sustain drives and protect the rock. He is a great football player. -
Joe B Observations on Bills win over Phins
Big C replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have not been paying attention to Zach Brown for a while... thought he was still with Washington. I do remember his skill set being pretty close to Milano's, mostly in terms of coverage ability. Maurice Alexander, I thought, was purely a special teams guy. We do need to find a depth player however we can. -
I was speaking more to the fact that he went to the Super Bowl and not how close the game was. That being said, it was 13-7 at the half and 16-10 until the final ~3 minutes of the game. That's pretty close.

Doesn't change the fact that they are competitive now. Kap nearly won a Super Bowl, Cam nearly won a Super Bowl... Vick never got their, but he was a threat for a while too. If the Ravens go on a Super Bowl run this year or next year and then Lamar falls off I don't think their organization will lament playing a fad offense. I'd take what the Ravens are doing now over watching, say, Rivers and Stafford throw for 300-400 yards every game in a losing effort.

Pregame thread MNF: Pats at Jets
Big C replied to IgotBILLStopay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it's possible. The Jets are certainly a better team with Darnold out there. I'm very interested in seeing how they do against the Pats defense compared to our first go at it. -
I think Harbaugh has done a very good job (as he always does) with Lamar. Greg Roman was the perfect hire and they are playing to his strengths. He is a gamer. He's not a perfect passer, but he has the ability to sling it and they let him take chances. He may be a running QB, but unlike, say, Tyrod, Lamar isn't conservative with his arm, so you still have to defend the whole field. And he is a slippery runner, so spying him is still a very difficult task. Allen is a good runner, but it is more due to his long strides and big frame. He needs a lane to take off and build steam. Lamar is twitchy like Shady. In short, the Ravens offense is not perfect, but it is confounding and thereby hard to defend.

Brown was a total stud last year until they switched to Lamar. They've opened up the pass game a little more this year, but last year it was mostly college-type read option run plays. Their pass catchers are not great, especially with their new Brown, Hollywood, not playing. Andrews is good and Brown is a legit deep threat, but the offense is very much a Greg Roman one. Mobile QB with a couple hard-nosed running backs chewing up yards with an occasional bomb. Kinda like we saw with Kap and then Tyrod. Anyway, as for the Eagles, I think we match up pretty well. Everyone is feasting on that defense right now and their offense is not clicking.

Does Beasley’s TD tamp down his growing frustration?
Big C replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I mean, we were all frustrated that first half, weren't we? I'm sure Cole knows that sometimes he's going to be open and not seen, and I'm sure Cole knows his hands have been a tad suspect. His volume is still there and we're winning games. Keep growing together and keep winning games. That said, I'm sure if I'm running open constantly I'd expect the ball more. Josh has been ignoring the check downs and short stuff a lot since the first couple weeks (Singletary was available a lot in this regard as well). Hell, when I play flag football I get mad if I don't get the ball. I don't care if we score every drive, I want the ball. I think it's good to want it and be frustrated when your QB isn't looking for you when the team needs a score, or to move the sticks. It's only a problem when you become a diva, which Cole and Brown surely are not. -
Certainly one of the things that makes this team special is the ability to dig deep and turn things around when it's not looking so good. I wanted to see a blowout real bad, and still crave one, but the Dolphins came to play in that any-given-Sunday way and we came away with another W. I'm not fired up but I'm happy enough.

Well, a lot more to do with his terrible lateral movement. His three-cone and shuttle times were slower than Tom Brady's. And now we see him try to move laterally and he just loses control of the football!
-
Will be interesting to see how this plays out. Brees is a free agent after this season and I would think that he calls it a career, especially if they win the Super Bowl. Bridgewater's contract also ends this year and he will have his choice of where to go. I think another team might offer him more, but I would rather stick with the Saints and their loaded roster.

Postgame: Dolphins 21 at Bills 31
Big C replied to Do The Reich Thing's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, theoretically the Dolphins get the ball back and can engineer some sort of miracle drive and succeed with the onside kick the next time. Going down gives you a guaranteed win then and there. -
Postgame: Dolphins 21 at Bills 31
Big C replied to Do The Reich Thing's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They were definitely sloppy, but it starts with tackling. Fitz, like any decent QB, is going to make some throws. We were just sloppy. I'm just saying I don't think they were unprepared specifically for Fitz. They were just unprepared. -
Everyone who thought the Colts were crazy to give him a two-year extension for $30 million total... Not so crazy, eh?

Postgame: Dolphins 21 at Bills 31
Big C replied to Do The Reich Thing's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think they were unprepared for Fitz. The problem with Fitz is that he is willing to throw into tight windows and/or throw it up and trust his guy can go up and get it (Gesicki made some, uh, Ge-sick catches today). He is a competitor and a leader. He has a lot of traits that the best QBs have. Sometimes he is just going to beat you. He has plenty of bad games, but we know he is capable of really good football. He put forth a good effort today. I was, however, frustrated with the chunk plays on the ground and the missed sacks. That was sloppy D and you have to make those plays to force the bad Fitz to come out. -

It can't be overstated how critical tre was this week. He saved the game for us. -
Bills (5-1) vs Fish (0-6) Game Balls!
Big C replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tre and John Brown. I hope Allen looks for Brown more in the coming weeks. He is always open and never drops the ball. -
He should have. But my fantasy score from them is now back where it was supposed to be so I ain't complaining.
-
Haha Haha ok
-
What the *****!?
-
Why can't we sack him??
-
Of course they get some field position here.
-
Really wish Singletary would break one in this game, ah well.
-
Defense finally getting it done

Holy hell way overthrown.
