the thing is, I think he's more versatile. think about Mularky's offense. this guy can QB, catch, long snap, hell he even returned kicks in college, and he played baskettball. he can dominate as a tight end with his speed in short yardage, redzone situations. not to mention his height. I don't see as much risk for a mid 2nd round pick if we could get him.

i'm looking at it realistically, that's why. No way we are getting Mike Williams, so why even entertain the thought of it? why get excited about something that just ain't gonna happen? mark my words, Matt Jones will be gone in the 1st round. I think he's a second rounder with minimal risks, but Phi or Pit will jump all over him late 1st.

Matt Jones I just think he's going to go in the bottom of the 1st and I will be very jealous of the team that lands him. He would be an absolute steal in the second. I think he makes a great TE. A scoring tight end, hybrid WR. I love blocking TE's but if he isn't so what? He'll be a great weapon in the endzone. He was smart enough to play QB, so I can just imagine the possibilities with him in a Mike Mularky offense. He can also long snap. The same worries were expressed with Drew Bennett and he was a monster last season. This guy has WHEELS!!!!! faster than most WR's in this draft. There are some here that would want us to draft Corey Webster and frown on the thought of drafting Matt Jones. Well, I have read that in the Senior Bowl practices, Jones made Webster look like Emanuel Lewis. It was no fluke as he ended up catching several balls and scored a couple TD's (?). Isn't the Senior Bowl where these guys go to shine for one last time before entering the draft? Yes, it is. Not much of a risk if you ask me. and by the way, all these guys are a crap shoot anyway.

I read a story a while back that always stuck with me. Ray Nitschke. I read that during the Ice Bowl, Ray had frostbite on a few of his toes. His nails fell off of his purple toes, he limped to the Super Bowl against the Raiders, SB 2 i believe. On Oak's 1st offensive series, a RB came out to block Ray. Ray threw him down face first, and walked on the guy's back and got to Lamonica. I also heard another story about a 25 ft metal tower that fell on Ray during a practice. A rod pierced his helmet (plastic back then) and cut his head. he was pinned under the tower. Lombardi and everyone else rushed to help. Lombardi tells them, "It's Ray....now get back to work." Ray continued to practice as soon as he got the tower off him. #66 was arguably the toughest bastard to ever play, from what I've heard anyway.

The only reason I can see MIN moving up to #2 is because they feel Edwards will be gone with #3 to CLE and I can see CHI taking Mike Williams at #4. Because if i'm CHI brass, there's no way in hell I allow divisional rival MIN to replace Randy Moss that easily. The real question is of coarse, can the Vikings do all this trading AND still get their pick in on time?

On one of the AM sports staions here in Phx, one of the beat writers said the same thing. He said "It's done. It's just not official." Makes you wonder who in the media gets the real inside scoop. (Sorry, I was giving someone a ride at the time and I never heard the reporter's name)
