  1. The OC is hard to tell if it is a lack of talent, bad play calling, guys not executing, or all of these. If they fire him I won't be sad. Lol!
  2. Before people try to chase him out of town... Let's put a few things in perspective: He coached the team to a 9-7 record this season despite: 1. The best we could find was a QB who was not on a roster, not in the Bills training camp, and learned the offense on the job to post a 7-5 record as a starter. The Bills would not have had Orton had Marrone not vehemently made his point to the GM that changes were needed in the QB depth chart. 2. The death of the only owner the Bills have ever had, and the transition to a new owner. 3. The loss of a home game, and moving that game to Detroit, due to a snow fall of historic levels. 4. The loss of both top RBs in the same game. 5. The top 3 WRs having very little NFL experience. The best of them, Watkins, playing through several injuries going back to training camp. 6. The RT being a seventh round rookie pick. 7. The OG postions were occupied by players that were not projected to be the starters. 8. The loss of our best rookie from the previous season (Kiko), before this season's games even began. 9. The loss of last year's Def Coordinator to the browns. Marrone may have upgraded the position with Schwartz replacing Pettine. I don't care what he sounds like in a press conference, I don't care what facial expressions he does or does not make on the side line. I care about organizational competence. The Bills have lacked it for years. Marrone seems to be building it.
  3. We don't do much of it, because I don't think our o line can do it well
  4. Yep, Fitzy wasn't the solution...but he was a better problem than what we have on the roster at this point. We ended up starting a QB for 10 games that was out of football for all of the off season and training camp. Of course he is not the answer, if he was he wouldn't have been out of football.
  5. It is mystifying! Could it be an issue of we have no one who can get out there and make blocks? Hackett couldn't be that bad, could he?!
  6. Spiller will be the last top 10 RB picked in the draft for 10 years. Gailey may have used him best, but he has looked bad more than good the past two years. He doesn't fit what the current staff wants to do. Clearly, the front office knew we had O Line trouble, they just whiffed on the free agent pick up and the first two O lineman drafted. The running game has been hard to watch. Which makes me question the long held thought of guards are easy to come by. They need to open up holes in the running game, pull and trap to make the running game more versatile, and block in space for screens and other aspects if a "short passing attack". The guards we have struggle to do these things, and the running game has struggled along with it.
  7. Hackett was on my s$&t list for a while. Then I stepped back and realized that: 1. Our starting QB was effectively retired and on a couch Sept 1st 2. Our top two RBs got hurt in the same game. FJax has returned, but his legs clearly aren't what they once were 3. Our starting guards weren't supposed to be our starting guards 4. Our Top 3 WRs have very little NFL experience Then I decided that his game plans are still managing to move the ball, score some points and have us in a position to win some games. Despite the limitations of depth, talent, and experience.
  8. The slide short was appalling......and okay I'm going to say it.....made me miss Fitzy.....he would have put that 48 on the Wonderlic head in harms way and got the first down!
  9. Hey, that's why we are fans....it's the "maybes"! I like your theory and I'm going with it this week
  10. Freddy is the single consistent bright spot on this roster over the past several years. Unfortunately, time has caught up with him. During the game in which he injured his groin you could see evidence of heavy legs prior to the injury. The groin tear happened while making a basic football move, and occurred without outside contact from another player. Perhaps another sign of the accumulated wear and tear. My guess is he is still 50% injured and playing on guts and heart because he knows it's his last season. Losing CJ Spiller in the same game we "lost" Freddy's legs was too much for the offense to overcome, and FJax is doing what he can to help the team win games in December. IF these are Fred Jackson's final games, it will be our privilege to cheer him on regardless of how his legs look. We would be much worse without him.
  11. I'm rooting for this scenario! But my guess is 8-8......dammit!
  12. The wrath of letting Polian go....felt by the Bills, The Carolina Panthers, and the Colts....but Andrew Luck is so damn good it covers a lot of mistakes. Must admit, I like the way this team looks with Hughes, more than I do without him! Go Bills
  13. Is Kelvin Sheppard for Jerry Hughes looking like one of the best trades in franchise history? And what is Indy doing with trades lately ....trades for Trent Richardson with Cleveland. Trades away Hughes to us.
  14. Welcome back Bill, thank you for your thoughts! It's hard for me to fully judge Gilmore's play from watching on television and the limited view of field. It would be interesting to hear from anyone who was at the game. Better yet, maybe an All 22 Breakdown? Last week, Sammy Watkins dropped 2 balls that were already on the way when he came out of his break. Does he have trouble tracking a ball when he can't see it leave the QB's hand? Did last week influence his targets this week? But all is well, we have thoughts back and the Bills won!
  15. Interesting thought YOLO People often reference athletes that are very good, and say things like "if only they focused more they could be the best ever" (Manny Ramirez in baseball) Not everyone can approach the game with a Peyton Manning level of attention to detail, and play well. Some guys just have to let it rip like Bubba Watson.
  16. I agree with you that a quarteback's success, or lack thereof, depends on many things. Coaching, personnel, game plan, etc. It takes a whole team to win, and a whole team to lose. However, we looked very bad on offense once we were down two scores. Today we did not have a player at any position on offense that could "put the team on their shoulders" and carry us to victory. EJ is at fault, play calling at fault, and the O line did not help matters. If only EJ looked as good as Kirk Cousins, who completed his tenth start today.
  17. I wasn't familiar with the term "troll" before last year. Pearl Howardman made me familiar with the term. He must enjoy his inline personality, and find himself lacking in reality.
  18. Did anyone watching the game, not know when an "inside handoff' was coming?! Particularly the one to Spiller in 3rd and 1.
  19. Agree that it was a team loss, a game plan loss, and a loss to what looks like a very good Chargers team. Sometimes one standout player can make the difference when all is going wrong. We didn't have him today on either side of ball.
  20. Watched a lot of games today. Kirk Cousins and Nick Foles put on a display of downfield passing. Foles had a very limited running game today, and by the fourth quarter had 4 backup o lineman playing. Somehow he kept stroking it. They showed what accurate, down field passing looks like. EJ could not answer that call today. When other phases of the game and team are having a rough day, a high quality QB can still move the ball. Not every time (Aaron Rodgers today), but they give you a "punchers chance". Bill, I agree with your thoughts. Dareus was a beast, A Wiliams played his rear off, F Jax is a pros pro, Gilmore looked bad, and CJ is a conundrum.
  21. Well said! He drives me nuts, but man it would have been a much better past 10+ years if he was a Bill. We probably would have figured out a way to call him 'blue collar".
