  1. This is a great trade for the Bills! Kiko is an undersized LB with a big heart. After his first 5 games, teams ran right at him, often with good effect. By the end of his rookie season he looked to be the size of a safety and he needed shoulder surgery. He was worn down. Then another ACL tear, this one occurring during training. We will miss his skills covering the TE, but Preston Brown and Bradham emerging last year make Kiko redundant to some degree. In return we get a complete back, the best the Bills have had since Thurman. RBs might be plentiful these days, but elite RBs are not.
  2. Voted Peters. Losing him because we wouldn't pay him/ keep him happy are hopefully the kind of mistake we leave in our history, and don't repeat in our future. A compelling case for Lynch can also be made. Hopefully, not being able to get "Beast Mode" to be happy and productive in Buff are also mistakes of the past. Those two would look real good in the Bills 2015 Roster. Here's hoping Seantrel Henderson is our new Peters. Similar type of freaky athlete for his size.
  3. Seahawks show ground and pound at its highest level....and are back to the Super Bowl.
  4. The NFL rules in regards to hitting the QB, hitting the WR, and coverage penalties have all been modified to favor passing over the run game for the past 10 seasons. This is combined with the league wide adoption of offenses that rely on quick hitting passes, in place of some run plays. Defenses have adjusted with line backers and safeties who favor pass coverage/ field coverage skills over run stopping skills. If I may use Kiko Alonso as an example....a 3 down line backer, who the Bills drafted specifically to help stop the Pats and their 2 TE attack (Hernandez was not yet charged with multiple murder when the Bills drafted Alonso). Kiko proved to be a very good line backer during his rookie season, but his weakest skill was against the run game. When teams pounded it on the ground right at him. If you can, recall how worn down he looked by the end of the season. Having Jairus Byrd playing safety behind him was another example of pass defense skills over run stopping skills. The point being that the Buffalo Bills, like most every NFL team, now draft defensive players to try to slow down the new style NFL offenses and their passing attacks. Linebackers and safeties who's body types are more suited to running with and covering the basketball players turned into TEs, the RBs out if the back field, and WRs in multiple receiver sets. Inevitably this will leave them more vulnerable to the running game. The NFL game strategies go in cycles. For the 17 of 32 NFL teams who would prefer an upgrade of their QB, a ground and pound attack (which by today's NFL would be 50/50 split if run and pass) may be just the right fit.
  5. I agree with you completely, and if the Bills had one of the future HOF QBs on that list we would all be discussing the playoff picture as it relates to the Bills. The best the Bills can do for next year is Jake Delhomme/ Rex Grossman/ brad Johnson/ Trent Dilfer/ Rich Gannon/ Matt Hasselbeck based on who is on the roster currently, who will be available in Free Agency, and what might come available in a trade. It's not pretty, but it might be competitive.
  6. Super Bowl Starting QBs since we haven't made the playoffs. Some first ballot hall of famers, and some who are not. If we can't get a hall of famer, with a great defense you still have a shot. 2001: Trent Dilfer Kerry Collins 2002: Tom Brady Kurt Warner 2003: Brad Johnson Rich Gannon 2004: Tom Brady Jake Delhomme 2005: Tom Brady Donovan McNabb 2006: Ben Roethlisberger Matt Hasselbeck 2007: Peyton Manning Rex Grossman 2008: Eli Manning Tom Brady 2009: Ben Roethlisberger Kurt Warner 2010: Drew Brees Peyton Manning 2011: Aaron Rodgers Ben Roethlisberger 2012: Eli Manning Tom Brady 2013. Colin Kaepernick Joe Flacco 2014. Russel Wilson Peyton Manning
  7. Yes....and that you can go the playoffs and win a game with a guy like Orton.....despite his obvious limitations.
  8. The Cardinals put up less than 75 yards of offense in a playoff game today. Lowest total in the history of the NFL! Just when we Bills fans thought we have been through the depths of hell with our QB situation for the past many, many years the Cardinals show us just how bad it can be. Wow.
  9. Well....here I am replying to my own thread that was started days ago. Let me add one more point to my "Marrone must be a genius" post: he will get paid $4 million dollars next year whether he sits at home or decides to go out and work. Should he decide to get a job, he will be paid $4 mill by the Bills plus whatever he gets paid for his other job.....GENIUS!
  10. I had not thought of that.... Let's hope Schwartz stays! And of course factored into why Marrone hired him (very smartly I might add) in the first place, they both knew we were playing the NFC North this year
  11. Chicago may want him....he took the Bills to 9-7....and was 4-0 against the NFC North
  12. I thought he did too....however inadvertent it might have been !
  13. He was saying it was Marrone's fault that the free agents brought in, players drafted to improve the o line didn't work out. My response is that they certainly missed on the players they brought in. How much is Whaley and how much is Marrone's fault is impossible for me to know. However, they knew it was an issue and made roster additions. My guess is that they will do it again this off season. I don't blame Marrone for this.
  14. Being out of state, I only see games on TV and not in person. The all 22 breakdowns during the season showed a lot of missed opportunities on offense. By QBs, WRs, and RBs. However, to your point the play calling often seemed to lack feel.
  15. Spikes Spiller Hughes Hope I'm wrong about Spikes and Hughes
  16. I have no idea what the plan for CJ was, but defenses were well versed on not letting him get the edge and he was not effective at running between the tackles.
  17. Never meant to imply that CJ didn't have heart. The man has always played with passion. Just that Fred seems to have made an entire career by playing smart and hard, even without the freakish athletic gifts of many players.
  18. Yes...they whiffed on EJ, they did nothing to upgrade behind him in the off season, and Marrone took Whaley to task for it and changed it. They whiffed on trying to upgrade the OG spots. Who is at fault? Coach, scout, GM? My guess scout, pro personell, and GM are more to blame for missing on players than the coach. The coach has to cook with the ingredients provided. At least he knew enough to demand some new ingredients.
  19. Good points. And San Diego has Chas Reinhold at OG. That much alone should have them in the Super Bowl!
  20. If only we could put CJ Spiller's legs with Fred's heart and head.
