Bills season tickets are over 46K & they announce a new policy
The Dean replied to bbb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually I believe I specifically said it should be easy for a legit season ticket holder to be able to move their tickets in the event they couldn't attend the game But I don't believe there is any need to profit from it. At most I could see a small charge. I am talking about people who make a living reselling tickets. And while I expect any new stadium will be covered (but not a done, seriously when was the last done built?) I don't like the idea. The best games are played in terrible weather, IMO. -

This. Fans get screwed by paying too much to resellers for crappy seats and Bills are stuck with great seats that cost about the same as the resold junk seats. But all this becomes moot as you will know 72 hours before the game. That's plenty of time to score seats. I just wish they would do more to punish the resellers, while making it easy to legitimately sell your unused tickets. Resellers hurt everyone. -
Chevy Van Miller was (is?) a writer for them. At one time, Dave Staba wrote for them. Both seem to be good guys and good reporters.

Well, I won't get into the fracking thing, as we don't want this to end up going to PPP. But I'm guessing there have been issues with the way Pegula made some of his money. Hell I can probably find some issues with the way most billionaires make their money. So. to me, it's an expose without any real bite. It's too bad what's become of The Reporter. At one time it was a feisty little local paper with integrity. But that went down the drain at some point. I think it is when Battaglia was forced out. In walked some local businessmen with agendas to promote and axes to grind.

New Bar in East Village for Game Viewing
The Dean replied to NYCBoozers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I might say Ithaca is in the Finger Lakes region. That has a nice ring to it. Cortland might even get away with it. Far better than the generic (and uninformative Upstate). -
Operating under the assumption he just drove around the track (they have nobody in their ear in these races) how would he even know that Ward was seeking him out? You are saying it is more likely that Stewart new Ward was out of his car and coming after him, than simply reacting to a weird situation where a guy was stumbling across the track? Like I said earlier, I suppose it is possible, but it seems far fetched and and I can think of many far fetched alternatives.

New Bar in East Village for Game Viewing

Thanks. I'm actually laughing while I'm posting, so it's all good. But it is a "thing" for me. My buddy is from Jersey and tells people (legitimately) he is from the NYC/NJ metropolitan area. He then introduces people (as far apart as Albany, Buffalo, etc) as from "Upstate". "Hey Brian, Joe here is from upstate" as if it were some kind of neighborhood. I have to admit, my relentless tirades have had an impact, though, Sometimes I'm sure he does it now just to get under my skin. But can you imagine calling everything north of San Diego "Upstate California"? Absurd. -

That's what it's called in NYC. So is Buffalo, Albany, Plattsburg, Jamestown and Peekskill. Don't you see a problem with buying into that terminology? It reduces 90% of the geographic region of the state to simply "somewhere other than metropolitan NYC... not important enough to specify". Now if you're in NYC and going heading "upstate" for the weekend, I guess I can buy it. Otherwise you have reduced most of the state to a generic place. Ithaca and Cortland are NOT "Upstate NY" by actual definition. Here are the official regions of NYS: http://www.dec.ny.gov/about/50230.html Of course, there are other names for some of the regions. But when you say "Upstate New York" all you are saying is "somewhere north, or west, of NYC" and you might as well add "it's not important". Have some pride in where you are from. You certainly were specific on where your bar is "East Village". But maybe you've been in NYC too long to care about the rest of the state. -
Well I think the issue here isn't that it's so hard to learn. But you need to practice it constantly to be consistent at a high level---just like every other position. And of course, you can't be playing a position where there is a good chance of being injured. Plus when the long snapper is on the field points lie in the balance. Those are some of the most important plays in the game--and the LS plays a key role.
-
Indeed. Because the Bills happen to have a PK who is very good, but doesn't seem to have the leg to boom it out of the end zone and an aging punter. I would hope the time comes when either the PK or the punter can handle kickoffs and get touchbacks.

i can't really take the over the top vibe of McFadden's so I'd be a candidate for your bar if I was still in the NYC area. But it is a long commute from Florida. But let me just say this. You grew up in Cortland and went to school in Ithaca---that's Central New York. Upstate New York is the equivalent of saying "Not NYC or Long Island". It is disrespectful of your area to lump it in with 90% of the state that happens to be outside of metro NYC area. Four guys talking at a bar in LA. First guy introduces the others to a girl at the bar: Jim is from the Upper West Side. Bill is from Hell's Kitchen and I live in the East Village. Joe is from Upstate. Why do we continue to allow people to relegate our areas into such a meaningless phrase? OK, I'm done ranting now. -
Yes, my bad. I gotcha. Well, that's an activation issue then, not a roster issue. You COULD make Sanborn inactive for a game. But the chance you need that 45th player is fairly slim (unless you guess right that week). The chances you need a good snap at some time during the game are almost certain,. That's why I say you need at least two players on the roster (and probably more like 3-4) who can deliver a quality long snap, with consistency, if you drop the LS roster spot. Hey maybe that's no problem...but I doubt it. Let me try to ask this another way. How many NFL teams don't employ a long snapper (maybe this has been addressed in this thread). What position does the LS on those teams play?
-
Indeed, And the last guy in the depth chart, in those positions, typically is inactive. They are there, on the roster, in case of injury. The LS plays a key role in every game.
-
If you cut your long snapper, you need to have TWO rock solid options to replace him, if those guys are also position players who get some action. You simply cannot be without one. Then you have to ask yourself, are these two guys going to be active every week? I agree that keeping two place kickers seems like a waste of a roster spot. But a consistent LS is a good use of that last spot,. Let's face it, the guy that would fill that spot would be inactive most every week.

Do we have 3 #1 wrs??? I think so!

Would you swap EJ for Manziel right now?
The Dean replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I got a broken link. But if it is the story I think it is, Donte doesn't say anything inflammatory. Basically says some guys prefer one QB while others like another. I recally he went out of his way to say they both are good and there is no real division, Yes, I heard the story too. They either changed their minds (or didn't) or the story was bogus/misinterpretation of what Pettine said. Just guessing though. -

I thought Pettine hadn't quite made up his mind about that. Says he will decide on Thursday. Supposedly he and Hoyer are splitting 1st team reps today. For what it's worth: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/08/12/johnny-manziel-and-brian-hoyer-will-split-starter-reps-monday/ -

The defense got them there. In 1998 Flutie fumbled to help lose the playoff game the year before. Also, he never QB'd a team to a playoff win in the NFL...NEVER. And that was 15-16 year ago. It's about time to give it a rest, don't you think? -
There you go.

Well I think a terrible accident occurred. A misguided driver, either angry or delirious, stumbled around on a racetrack and the likely outcome occurred---he was hit. There are many things I could guess from watching that video (which I have watched too make times and hope to never see again). The most likely being: He was lucky for awhile that he didn't get hit sooner. His stumbling and some luck saved him for awhile. By the time TS realized what the heck was happening he reacted and, unfortunately, hit Ward on the track. Less likely (but certainly possible I suppose): Ward suffered a blow to his head in the crash and didn't realize what he was doing. Ward was drunk, or under the influence of something. Ward committed suicide by race care driver. Stewart purposefully hit him, or hit him in the attempt to scare him (brush him back). I find all of those speculations pretty tasteless (with the exception of Ward suffering a blow to his head). I'd be appalled if anyone accused Ward of committing suicide with no evidence other than his senseless bouncing around on a racetrack. And I certainly find wild speculation about Stewart's motives equally tasteless/appalling in light of of the very incomplete information we see on the video.
