  1. I'm with you on that. But I wouldn't spend that kind of cash on a tablet for a kid. IMO Android has surpassed Apple for phones and tablets. But if you live in the Apple world, and submit to their marching orders, I understand if one sticks to their hardware. Just a matter of choice, I guess.
  2. You could be right about them worrying about Alonzo's health. I had thought he was given a clear bill of health, though. There are also rumors they will be taking a run at David Harris. Which leads me to one of my concerns about bringing in Ryan. While I trust he will build a fine defense, at what cost? Is he rebuilding what wasn't broken, to make it into "his defense"? If so, doesn't this take time, energy and cash away from fixing what really needed to be fixed? Adding McCoy certainly looks like a big positive move for the offense--but at a position that really wasn't broken and usually isn't that hard to fix/build. Anyway, those were my knee-jerk reactions (that I'm not entirely past, it seems). But as I try to be a reasoned fan, I will let this thing play out and try not overreact to any one move. Let's see what the end product looks like. Come to think of it, that's why the font was big. I cut/pasted from a message I sent in from my business email. Since I have many REALLY old clients, I bumped my font in that account.
  3. Not sure why the font came out so large there. Sorry.
  4. I love McCoy. But trading a young, stud LB with a seemingly very bright future/upside for a a running back (a great back to be sure) on the downside of his career isn't something I tend to be in favor or--in general that is. So that's why my knee-jerk reaction isn't favorable. By downside, I mean he is near the end of his prime---maybe past it. Still very good, but with a huge contract. Kiko is just getting started, and it seems we are throwing away value here. I know the Bills had trouble with the run game but RB wasn't the biggest reason for that. Sure it's an issue moving forward but there are guys in FA and in the draft. Hell even UFA RB's strike gold on occasion. I feel it's easier to find running backs than quality all-down LBs. But I think Rex had to sign off on this (I don't think they are making major FA/trade moves without his buy-in). Maybe Rex doesn't see Kiko playing a major role in his D for some reason---or that he can get similar results with other guys in that role. Rex has been known to think he can make steak out of meatloaf on D. It would be easier for me to swallow if I respected Rex's decision making--which I still don't. I hope I'm wrong.
  5. I work on a lot of tablets, but haven't had any real experience with the Nexus. I really like the Samsung tablets, but despise all the crap Samsung packs them with. I know you can root them and get rid of the junk, but are you likely to to that? I'm not. Nexus are supposed to come without a lot of the unnecessary garbage installed, which is a plus, IMO. As has been mentioned the Kindle Fire is very nice, for the price, but a bit limited. Still fine, IMO. And I would recommend all of these over an iPad, which I find horribly overrated. Once you get used to Android, it's tough to go back to an Apple device---again, IMO.
  6. No kidding. Been preoccupied with a few family issues, and work, lately. I understand why the McCoy trade is controversial and can see why some might like it (though I still do not). But I'm not sure how anyone can be totally pissed at the Cassel move, given the cost. At a minimum, Matt is a major upgrade over Tuel. That alone makes it worth the price, IMO.
  7. If true, that's fine. A good trade, IMO. Still not sold on the McCoy trade, though.
  8. Meh. I'm fine with it--depending on what draft picks they gave up. I actually think I prefer Cassel to many of the other options that were/are available.
  9. Haven't read through the thread and haven't had time to fully process it. But my initial reaction is: I hate this trade. I'm already thinking of reasons why it might be a positive sign, but gut feeling says "bad trade".
  10. Starks! Niagara Falls High and SUNY Buffalo. Just like his hero, The Dean. He really should get more carries, IMO.
  11. Well, since it was a girls team, I expect they already own skirts. But was does wearing skirts have to do with winning and losing, or mental toughness? Don't you think it's about time to retire out-of-date stereotypes like this? But I guess it's good to see you haven't evolved in your views on women as you also retained your "only the most brutal survive" mentality. Yours is a mind-numbing reactionary world view, IMO. Good point, I think. Do you want a guy like that teaching your children? From the articles it sounds like the coach knew this would be a blowout, and made some preparations before the game to try to ameliorate the damage. But during the game he should have noticed his plan wasn't panning out and made some adjustments. And while he couldn't account for a substitute making 8 of 9 three point-shots, the real question is "Why were his players tossing up three-point shots at that stage?" \ It's really hard to know exactly how it went down, without being at the game, I suppose. But I tend to agree a suspension might not be the best cure in this case. Maybe firing whoever makes the schedules and match-ups should be considered, though. Actually, yes---in a way. A good lesson might be teaching mercy. And that is is OK to back off a bit when you have clearly won. That total domination, while enticing, is actually a poor way to live life, or do business. That's a lesson many at the top of the power/wealth chart could have used when they were growing up.
  12. Like most here, I respect the hell out of Bill Polian, but this is an example of one of failures, IMO. Instead of rewarding an excellent/overachieving player with an early contract extension, Polian would sometimes go to war. Had he successfully renegotiated that extension with Faulk, the Colts could have used their first round pick (in the 1999 draft) on a defense that was desperate for help. Instead, he had to draft Edgerrin James---a fine back, but with Faulk in the fold that pick could have been used to a far better advantage.
  13. Sugar? Clemenza deserved to get whacked just for that. He already added some red wine, which has plenty of residual sugar. Need more? Add a bit more wine. Hell, a carrot would work if your tomatoes were so bitter it still needed sugar. (Mario Batali's jarred sauces contain a good bit of carrot. I'm not a big fan of that, but better than adding straight sugar.)
  14. Well, that article clearly states Thurman is coming as DC. How could you read it any other way? You may be right, and I hope you are. But that article in headline, and in content, says Thurman is coming as DC. Unfortunately he is our HC, not our DC.
  15. Some run, but not all of them call plays.
  16. Really? Most trust their coordinators. Head coaches need to empower their coordinators, Very few succeed by trying to do too much. Is Rex the exception? I guess we have no choice but to wait and see.
  17. Primetime games are only good if the team deserves them--not just because they have a celebrity coach. Primetime games mean noting in the Win column.
  18. He won 5 more games than Rex this year, for starters.
  19. The Bills D was just fine. Show me how Rex, as HC, improves the offense.
  20. Then who is the HEAD Coach? I hate a head coach trying to be both a coordinator and a HC---plus Rex want to be GM, too. This really does not bode well for the Bills, IMO.
  21. Unfortunately for the Bills, Rex is HC not DC.
  22. Yet Belicheat wins far more than Rex. I'll take a stoic HC any day. Honestly I could give a rat's ass about the HC personality, but I prefer stoic over clownish. Agreed. The Beast was a great read when Taibbi was there.
  23. If true, this is my worst nightmare coming true. The Rex hire has put this team into full rebuild mode, which is NOT what this team needed. The Rex hire is tearing the team apart, IMO. I just have to hope it won't end up in a disaster. Waiting a few days, they could have had a shot at Fox, who is CLEARLY a far superior HC than Rex.
  24. Sure. But Schwartz's style plays out better, down in and down out, than Rex/Pettine's IMO. Apparently, according to most here.
  25. The worst human being on the planet. Her and her cohort, Jane Velez-Mitchell---yuch!
