  1. Seriously, I don't think Jimmy G will be a first-rate QB in the NFL, outside of NE. But he's decent and has a chance to prove me wrong. OTOH, NE has nobody. Whoever they sign, it will likely be a level or two down from Jimmy, if only for the reason he's coming to the system cold. NOW is the time for teams to go full on, to take Marcia Brady out of the game. Bring it on!!!!
  2. Ever been to a Fla/Georgia game? Hard not to "notice". Weak take.
  3. He may not be top-level, but he is FAR from terrible. Coming out of college I had him as my best, mid-round QB. I hoped the Bills would take him. So far, he's produced quite well, in the NFL. A bit careless with the ball, for my tastes, though. How about Johnny Football!
  4. I don't disagree. I'd hate that, unless they got MAJOR return. But like many, I think you hang on to a (relatively) young elite LT. Pay the man.
  5. Too bad he didn't hire some high-profile lawyer. This is one I'd love to see argued in court. Plagiarizing yourself? Gimme a break. I taught one semester at Canisius College, back in the 80s. A few of the classes I took were those of a professor out on sabbatical, that semester. She had a reputation of being a VERY easy grader, so many athletes took her classes. From day one, I made it clear I was NOT her. Not that I was a hard ass, but I didn't give everyone As and Bs. But I guess you would actually have to be in class, or talk to someone in class, to know that. I gave a take-home final. I asked questions that demanded they demonstrate some understanding of the material. I don't really care if they learned it during the semester, or crammed for a week to at least learn enough to pass the test. If they passed, they at least learned something. Anyway I got 5 (or 6) EXACT copies of the same final, all from "top" athletes. The thing was, it (not they, as there was really only one) was incomprehensibly bad. Didn't address the question, at all, and didn't show any comprehension of the material. Every paper had the same misspellings, same grammatical errors, etc. But all in different handwriting. It would have made fare more sense for these mooks to make a photocopy of the damn thing. I gave them all an F. Now, let me just say it's hard to get an F in my class. Show me you are trying, and I'll probably give you a D. But I'm not sure any of these idiots ever came to a class. And they certainly weren't trying. The Dean (not me) called me into his office to see if I'd reconsider the grade, as this was going to do "irreparable damage" to the football and basketball program. I laid out all the finals on the table, and told him to take a look. This was clear plagiarism. I also explained, whoever wrote the original piece, had absolutely no understanding of the material, so should fail, while the others should be expelled. Then I walked out. My time there was done. I had no power. They could do whatever they wanted. I never found out what happened.
  6. It's funny. An hour before kickoff and I still don't know who I'm rooting for. There are ramifications, both ways, for the Bills. Both teams have great fan bases (not bandwagon, by any means), some very good coaches/front office personnel. I have a feeling I won't even know who I want to win, until I start rooting for a team, at some point during the game. Kind of like ordering in a restaurant when I can't make up my mind from looking at the menu. I'll know what I want when the server asks for my order---I often surprise myself.
  7. Whenever the Fins/Pats/Jets played one another, that's was always our answer to who/what to root for: injuries. I actually think that's terrible to believe, but very funny to say.
  8. I'd think your buddies would let you know. But yes, some teachers grades are influenced by the impression they already have of you. Too bad. Oh, and some people really keep their old papers/assignments in a file. This shocked me the first time I discovered it. I found a stack of my mother's old report cards, when I was cleaning out an old drawer. Found my Master's Degree diploma, too. Never had a clue (or cared) where it was.
  9. Was your sister really hot? Because, you know, that could explain things.
  10. I actually kind of like both these teams. But yes, since either could be in the Bills way for a playoff spot. !@#$ both of these teams.
  11. For those reasons, I don't think Hyde's the guy. But I would love to see them upgrade the #2 RB spot, a bit. In the event Shady goes down (ugh), the Bills can probably find a FA RB, or sign one off another team's PS, who can deliver---at least reasonably well.
  12. Being gay isn't a choice, but living as a gay man is, if by that we mean accepting you are gay and/or being public about it. Choosing to engage in gay sex (or any sex, or no sex) is a choice, too. So I don't think it's really hypocritical, though it sounds like it is. But as you note, that's not really the point, here.
  13. I'm in a similar situation with Tyreek Hill. Now, had I started Deshaun Watson.....
  14. Yes, seems odd. Then again, "close friendships" can be pretty ephemeral among those in the entertainment industry.
  15. No, I think those are legit. But with this particular management team, I think there was only the preseason incident. Did I miss one? I recall no issues during the season, so far. If I recall correctly, he had some nagging injury early in the year, that might have accounted for his lack of playing time, and might have impacted his performance, at the time. And while not getting much playing time, his performance seemed OK, and getting better. I won't argue he was "worth his salary", though. As to the argument "they did everything they could", I'm not so sure. Maybe they did. One thing the new regime didn't try was challenging Dareus with the starting role, and a lot of playing time---putting him in the spotlight, and on the spot, so to speak. Letting him know (privately would be my preference), this was his chance to prove all the haters wrong. That might work, if they believed his performance issues were from lack of motivation/malaise/etc. But I'm not convinced his performance was the major issue, here. I just think they may have made a judgement before even meeting him, and said "he's not our kind of guy". The screw-up in preseason only reinforced that thinking. Then I think they sort of just gave up on him--maybe didn't think he was worth their time/effort. I just keep hearing/reading he wasn't buying-in to the new regime, and I can't quite figure out where that comes from. I also hear/read he was a locker room cancer---though I think it's fairly clear he was not. BTW, that's a terrible thing to accuse a player of, without real evidence. (I'm not directing that at you, since I do not know if you called him a "cancer".) You won't read posts from me lamenting his departure, down the line. But I do think his talent was underutilized (and I'm guessing McDermott might agree, even if he had a bigger reason/plan for letting him sit), and the return for could have/should have been a bit higher.
  16. Well, it was probably a lot more memorable to the kid, than to Kevin. I'm guessing Kevin got blasted and mauled twinks far too often to think much about this particular one. I also loved that Spacey called what he did "inappropriate drunken behavior". Um, it's "sexual molestation" and "rape", Kevin.
  17. Just out of curiosity, what were those things, you find so apparent? How was ne not "in the fold", on the day before he was traded? The move is done, so I think it's time to move past it. Rearview mirror on this one.
  18. Glenn was a monster, yesterday. In fact, the entire OL looked pretty good. Even Vlad made a couple terrific plays, that I saw.
  19. Far enough. 80% then? Keep in mind, Sturgeon was responding specifically to criticisms to Sci-fi writing, at the time. Right now, one might use that do describe a lot of blogs, twitter accounts and facebook pages.
  20. I post too much, when I'm around. I need to take a break from this place, now and then. How you doing? They are similar, in that both guys were seen (for different reasons) as a thorn in the side of Bills' management. They will be even more comparable, should Dareus really blossoms elsewhere. There are many differences, though, including what you mentioned. Another is that the Bills are getting decent DT play from guys still on the roster. I can't recall who the LT was, after Peters, but my recollection was it was not pretty.
  21. The proper expression is "not for nothin', in this case. https://www.google.com/search?num=50&rlz=1C1EODB_enUS693US693&ei=Maf2WdilE8j4jwTh3rDgDw&q=%22not+for+nothing%22&oq=%22not+for+nothing%22&gs_l=psy-ab.3..0i67k1l2j0j0i67k1l2j0l2j0i10k1j0l2.64598.64598.0.66325.1.1.0.0.0.0.129.129.0j1.1.0....0...1.1.64.psy-ab..0.1.127....0.VcnGDGBBkxQ And remember: Nothing from nothing leaves nothing. Now, piss off and go to bed, sonny.
  22. I may have to look over my post, some other time, to see if I misused commas. It's possible. It's late, and I'm getting tired. Honestly, I believe it's my parenthetical writing style that has your panties in a bunch. But seriously? Commas? Don't like my posts? Don't read them. My feelings won't be hurt. I was using the "royal you". I didn't mean you, specifically. Yes, some idiots can get totally taken on a deal and come out happy as hell. One of the reasons con men are so successful.
  23. Best to your Dad. And keep an eye on your Mom. I hear she took another fall.
