Why Is Our Government Putting People In Cages?
ALF replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The democrats were no fan of W for 8 years . I can't recall what his border policy was but it must have been low key not to cause the uproar like now. Whatever Trump is doing sounds expensive by driving agencies crazy trying to implement. I do appreciate keeping families together though. -

How bad is it in the countries these families are fleeing? This bad Widespread gang violence fuels instability and suffering. Criminals have extorted Hondurans into paying an arbitrary "war tax" for their survival, and those who can't pay often are killed. Honduran police hold a boy whose father was killed in 2016 by alleged gang members for refusing to pay them a "war tax." "There are no jobs, no justice, no laws in Honduras," said 32-year-old Karen Gallo, who sought asylum in 2018 via a caravan of migrants. Life in El Salvador: "El Salvador is beset by one of the world's highest homicide rates and pervasive criminal gangs," the CIA World Factbook says. MS 13 Most members are of Central American origin, principally El Salvador. Life in Guatemala: Almost half of Guatemalan children under age 5 are chronically malnourished -- "one of the highest malnutrition rates in the world," the CIA World Factbook says. "Guatemalans have a history of emigrating legally and illegally to Mexico, the United States and Canada because of a lack of economic opportunity, political instability and natural disasters." https://www.cnn.com/2018/06/20/americas/separated-families-countries-snapshots/index.html -

The bottom line will be what voters decide in Nov and again in 2020. I accept the will of the voters . Trump was legally elected I have no problem with that. -

The US abides by the Geneva Convention for refugee asylum , but I could be wrong. A case by case humanitarian plan is still the right thing to do. -

The problem in Central America is that their governments are unable to protect them and are corrupt. Poverty creates dire problems in some places. Jail or deport gang members here . -

Their lives are threatened especially if young family members do not become gang members. If I understand what is going on there, not Mexico. -

I have no problem with a wall and tight border security. Screen carefully everyone who is legally admitted. Questions and Answers: Asylum Eligibility and Applications Can I Still Apply for Asylum Even if I Am in the United States Illegally? Yes. You may apply for asylum with USCIS regardless of your immigration status if: You are not currently in removal proceedings You file an asylum application within one year of arriving to the United States or demonstrate that you are within an exception to that rule. https://www.uscis.gov/humanitarian/refugees-asylum/asylum/questions-and-answers-asylum-eligibility-and-applications -

Those from Central America who qualify for asylum are a special case. They may not know the proper procedure , give them a break on a case by case basis . They are very desperate after a long and dangerous journey. Of course weed out criminals and MS-13 -

I agree with this 100%. If a minor is brought across the border by a non family member , US authorities take custody of that child and try to unite with relatives in this country or Mexico. If the child is from Central America try for a safe foster family in this country, with monitor by CPS till 18. Child smugglers go to prison then deport. Real asylum seekers from Central America as a family unit need to be kept together. Treat these victims with dignity, they will pay this country back 100 fold. Just do the right thing. -

Donald J. TrumpVerified account @realDonaldTrump 2h2 hours ago Democrats are the problem. They don’t care about crime and want illegal immigrants, no matter how bad they may be, to pour into and infest our Country, like MS-13. They can’t win on their terrible policies, so they view them as potential voters! That is just so wrong. How can there be bipartisan cooperation with slander like that. -

Obviously since he was only making $1.5M, low by today's NHL coach's standards, a $1.8-million salary doesn't cut it. So Trotz stepped down.

That sounds like a very expensive idea .

Since this is known by the LEO , wouldn't this be a major reason for more border security to try and stop human trafficking. It might even make a wall be even more necessary . Why haven't they gone to the MSM with this info to try and get a more secure border and screening to stop this problem. No one could oppose stopping human trafficking of children I would think. -

When the Obama administration attempted to respond to the “crisis” of families and unaccompanied children crossing the border in summer 2014, it put hundreds of families in immigration detention — a practice that had basically ended several years before. But federal courts stopped the administration from holding families for months without justifying the decision to keep them in detention. So most families ended up getting released while their cases were pending — which immigration hawks have derided as “catch and release.” In some cases, they disappeared into the US rather than showing up for their court dates. https://www.vox.com/2018/6/11/17443198/children-immigrant-families-separated-parents -

In fiscal year 2013, under the Barack Obama administration, the HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) had as many as 25,000 unaccompanied children in its care across 80 shelters, according to a July 2014 article in Mother Jones. The number represented a huge jump from 2011, when the ORR had just 53 shelters housing 6,560 kids. The surge in the number of children being taken into custody was so unexpected that federal immigration authorities temporarily placed children in emergency dormitories at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Mother Jones reported. At the time, the dramatic increase in the number of unaccompanied children arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border had "reached a crisis proportion" by June 2014, with a 90 percent surge in arrivals from 2013, according to Migration Policy. http://www.newsweek.com/trump-administration-holding-more-immigrant-children-shelters-ever-949099http://www.newsweek.com/trump-administration-holding-more-immigrant-children-shelters-ever-949099 -

DHS Secretary Nielsen slams 'irresponsible' media, says no 'policy of separating families at the border' The head of the Department of Homeland Security bashed the media Sunday for their reporting on the increasingly volatile immigration controversy, writing in a string of tweets: “We do not have a policy of separating families at the border. Period.” She noted that no one is “breaking the law by seeking asylum at a port of entry.” Sec. Kirstjen Nielsen ✔ @SecNielsen This misreporting by Members, press & advocacy groups must stop. It is irresponsible and unproductive. As I have said many times before, if you are seeking asylum for your family, there is no reason to break the law and illegally cross between ports of entry. 5:51 PM - Jun 17, 2018 http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/06/17/dhs-secretary-nielsen-slams-irresponsible-media-says-no-policy-separating-families-at-border.html
