  1. I posted in other thread about scenarios where buffalo could clinch a wildcard spot before week 18 starts.

Buffalo WW and assume CLE has 10+ wins thus only one other WC spot team can get to 10 Wins or more

    3 of these 4 occur

    1. PIT WL

    2. CIN LL

    3 DEN lose one

    4. HOU and IND both lose a game, or JAX LL. Basically a scenario where only the third place team can’t have 10+ wins

if CLE LL then a WC spot opens up. If CIN L one then their week 18 meet up only has one team at 10W.
In option 4 above, if both happen then that opens up another scenario.

BUF can’t get the #1 seed. They lose tiebreakers to BAL by common games record. KC wins a KC, BAL, BUF tie.

if BUF gets WC before week 18 and MIA WW then Miami  clinches division and BUF probably rests everyone.  You run a risk of playing A game and win and then have to repeat it the next weekend of BUF-MIA in playoffs

  2. Buffalo clinches WC with a WW and 3 of the 4 occur and CLE is at 10+ W. Basically BUF, CLE and onr other team for WC can get to 10+ wins.

    1. CIN LL( can’t get to 10 wins)

    2. PIT L one ( can’t get to 10 wins)

    3. DEN L one ( can’t get to 10 wins)

4.afc South you have only 1 teams that can get to 10 wins in 2nd place. The simplest one is if HOU and IND both Lose a game in next 2 because they play each other in week 18.

If CLE goes LL then it adds other scenarios because they play CIN in week 18. If CIN L just one then VLE-CIN week 18 means only one of them can get to 10 wins which opens up another WC spot.

Also if JAX goes LL can add other wrinkles.

End of day—BUF at 10 W and at most  2 other WC teams can get go 10+ W.

BUF can’t get top seed. They can get #2 seed with winning div at 11 wins,BALW one,  KC L a game, and the south winner is under 11 wins. If BUF, BAL, KC are all at 11-6 it goes KC, BAL, BUF. KC better conf rec, BAL over BUF by common games ( CIN, JAX, MIA, LAC) BAL 4-1 vs 3-2 by BUF.

I don’t want to put the cart before the horse, but I have a feeling some individuals at One Bills Drive reads this board and pulls some info from here. Maybe not coaches, but people close with decision makers.

Anyways, with the new OT rules created post 13 seconds for the playoffs, I can’t imagine a scenario where you would ever want to receive if you win the toss.

All the advantage lies with the kicking team. If you get a quick stop and force a 3 and out, you probably end up with good field position and the chance to win the game on a FG.

If you’re defense is gassed and has been getting gashed all game, like we were in 13 seconds and the Eagles game this year (second half), then it allows you to maybe get lucky with a stop or a turnover. And if the opponent ends up scoring a TD, you know your team also needs a TD. On top of that you have four downs on each set of downs as well. If you score a TD, go for two and end the game without having to put the onus back on defense (control your own destiny so to speak).

Does anyone have counterpoints to this?

Reason why I bring this up is because I think we’ve all seen how it seems as though the kicking team has the advantage in OT this year. On top of that, we suck in OT under McD. Hope McD picks up some pointers and can apply them if we are fortunate enough to make the playoffs.

    The counter argument….

if they get the ball first, get a TD

you come back get a TD

they get ball and kick a FG…they win.

Why? If you kick off and they score a TD you look ridiculous. I disagree. Take the ball.

In regular season OT….choice depends onnthr opponrnt.

if it’s a heavy defense low scoring game like a 13-13 game…if I win the toss I’d kick off givrn thr likelihood of stopping thrm  in a 3 and out and getting the ball at my 35-45 only needing a FG to win.

if this is a back and forth higher scoring game then I take the ball first to get a game winning TD.  In playoff OT the other team post TD gets the ball to try and score.

I don't think so. Checked twice over the last two days and that promo has ended.

Depends on your service. If you have a higher level service you might get it at no cost.

somr promos are for short term trials like 90 days free.  Some of this is targeted. You could call and probably get a free trial.

you can buy it at $6/ month and get it for Saturday and WC late Saturday game, then cancel it.

Ty Johnson had a shoulder injury Sunday, he kept playing but it kept bothering him.

Murry is kinda worthless running the ball.  Word is his strength is in pass pro.

Cook played great but still dropped another sure TD pass.

Fournette should know the playbook by now.  That wiener Tom Brady said Fournette was great in the passing game.  Fournette must know the playbook by now, Couldn’t he at least replace Murry on game day? Take a few pass catching reps from cook? Fill in for an injured Johnson??

please tell me “special teams” isn’t the reason he is inactive- our STs suck already!

So bench cook for fournethe…got it.

So I know the game this Saturday is only on peacock and I have to subscribe. No issue there. My question is, they have 2 subscriptions to choose from and I don't know if I can choose either one, or I have to subscribe to a particular one to get the game. I'm sure I won't be the only one with questions as the week goes on. Thanks

Yes, then it was called against Toney, that was 12 and then again in the very next game with the Eagles-Cowboys, for 13.

We are 15 weeks in…..so we go 0-1 for 13 weeks then 3 then 5+ is not an increase and becoming something I can’t help you in understanding patterns in data.

Back in the day, we had a poster here(whose name escapes me), who wrote hysterical AI weekly recaps.

Didn’t even know it was still on the air.

there was a reporter here in DC who did daily blogs of “ we watch so you don’t have to”.  Thry were funny with their writing style using criticism snd sarcasm.  They did this with many reality shows and other popular shows so you didn’t seem out of touch at the water cooler.

AI has been around 20 years or something like test. It’s not on ABC in the spring ( March- May).  I’ve watched episodes but don’t watch it closely.

I think part of the reason is how much success do the folks get post show?  Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson are thr only successful winners.  There has bern others who got success from the show but didn’t Winn ( Adam Labert- Quern lead singer, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Pickler)

Why?  It's been a point of emphasis this year that teams were told about in training camp and has been getting called throughout this season.

last week in response to the chiefs call on SNF they said Offside was called 11 times during the season.

this weekend I think there was about 5 called.

I moved away post college, my brother lives in nashville.

we coordinate overlapping times back into town.  With his kids we’ve done ski/ board trips to HV and KB if weather cooperates.

over the years, when depended on school calendars with being either before or after Xmas.  The past few years we would have been in town this weekend ( probably been at the game yesterday). This year it’s over New Year’s Day weekend.

OK.......messed around with the Playoff machine and found a way for us to clinch a Playoff spot before the Dolphins game happens.  I am picking games the way I realistically think they could go, not what would be best for us.  If we get some help from some unexpected sources along the way, it may offer more options.  I'm just not counting on them.

Obviously, we have to win the next 2.

    WEEK 16

Bengals beat Steelers (Of course we would love it if the Steelers could pull off the upset, but I think the Bengals are going to blow them out)

Colts beat Falcons (Again, go Falcons.  Indi is trash, but they somehow keep lucking their way into wins.  But we will be rooting for this to go the way of the Falcons)

Broncos beat Patriots (It feels dirty rooting for the Pats*, but we could really use them to find a way to beat the Broncos. Just don't see it, though.)

    WEEK 17

Raiders beat Colts (This is the one I am stretching on to get to where I want to be.  I think the Colts will probably win but hopefully, we can get the Colts luck to run out.  If everything else stays the same, but the Colts win both of these games against the Falcons and Raiders, we're still at 82%, but no guarantees)

Jags beat Panthers (Go Panthers!  HA HA HA!!!!!)

Broncos beat Chargers (Go Chargers, but it ain't happening)

Chiefs beat Bengals (While we all hate the Chiefs, this is one we need to happen)

    WEEK 18

Assuming we win the next 2, there is a good chance this will be your Primetime game as it could likely be for the division or maybe a Playoff spot itself.  I am not sure how they will schedule the other games (the could obviously schedule the other games to happen after this one if the put the Bills and Dolphins on Saturday night), but if we do play after everyone else, here is what we would need to have a spot clinched before the game:

Browns beat Bengals (HUGE ONE HERE......  If it goes the other way, with everything else remaining the same, it brings a lot more teams into it and drops our chanced to just make the Playoffs without winning the Dolphins game to in the 60% range)

Texans beat Colts (Again, this keeps other teams out of the equation)

So, that is how we can clinch a Playoff spot with a win or loss against the Dolphins.  If the Colts keep finding a way to win, that is really bad for us.  Ugh.....they are so bad, but just won't get out of the freaking way and their remaining schedule is cake.  If the Colts beat the Texans in Week 18 or if the Bengals beat the Browns in Week 18, it will be on us to win or we will be having to hope the Raiders beat the Broncos.  In all honesty, we are all Raiders fans from here on out.  They affect multiple games.  Not a great feeling having to rely on that team to win games for us, but it is what it is.

Obviously, if we win out, we're in and could possibly host a Playoff game.  That is the ideal situation.  But, if you are just looking to find a way to get in, even if we lose that Dolphins game, this is the scenario to make that game meaningless in regards to just getting in the Playoffs.

to clinch WC before week 18…

    Buffalo WW

Only 2 other WC position teams have a 9-6 record or better ( Cleveland + another team) or CLE is 9+ wins, and HOU and IND are both 9-7 heading into week 18.  Thus only 2 other teams can get to 10+ wins innWC position.  Or CLE goes LL , CIN can be 9-7.
CLE/CIN and HOU/IND face each other in week 18. If all are 9-7 then only 2 can get to 10 wins.

all others are 8-8 or worse

    PIT L a game

CIN L both, or L one if CLE go LL

DEN need to L a game

HOU L a game And IND L a game or JAX go LL— only 2 teams in south can get to 10+ wins

There is still a path for Miami to miss the playoffs completely! All starts with losses to Dal, Bal and Buf.

    At 10-7…yes.

the reason buffalo isn’t yet win out and in is because you can have 4 non division winners with 11 wins.

Cincinati, Cleveland, 2nd place HOU/JAX/IND all can end with 11 wins. Buffalo loses tiebreakers going 4-1 vs  NFC thus losing h2h or conf record tiebreakers..

if Cleveland lost to Chicago then buffalo could control their own fate by win out and get a playoff spot.

cle/ cin play in week 18 so if Clevrland lost then with both at 8-5, then only one could have 12 wins. Since CLE won they both can finish with 12 wins.

HOU/ IND play in week 18. Both at 8 wins. Only 1 can have 11 wins. Jacksonville has tiebreakers against both.

BUF/ MIA could mean winner gets division, loser plays golf.

it can get very crazy if you get some loses and wild cards are for teams at 10 wins.

Four of the top teams in terms of records are NFC teams with QBs of Dak Prescott (2016, #135), Jalen Hurts ((2020, #53),  Brock Purdy (2022, #262), and Jared Goff (2016, #1).

Has NFC caught up to AFC?  A number of superstat QBs are not so super now.

    Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings

    • Cousins suffered a torn right Achilles tendon on Oct. 29 against the Green Bay Packers. The Vikings QB had surgery on Nov. 1 to repair the tendon.

    Daniel Jones, New York Giants

    • On Nov. 5, Jones suffered a torn ACL in his right knee on a non-contact play. The Giants QB underwent successful surgery to repair the ACL on Nov. 22 and faces eight to 10 months of recovery.

    Aaron Rodgers, New York Jets

    • Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles on the Jets' fourth snap of the season on Sept. 11. He was placed on injured reserve and had surgery to repair the Achilles. The injury and subsequent surgery was thought to be season-ending. However, Rodgers started practicing on a limited basis on Nov. 29, and neither Rodgers nor the Jets have ruled out a return to the field this season.

    Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

    • The Bengals quarterback suffered a torn ligament in his right wrist in the team's loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 16. The team said Burrow had successful surgery on the wrist on Nov. 27.

    Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

    • Herbert needs surgery to repair a fracture to his broken right index finger and will be placed on injured reserve, ending his 2023 season, the team announced on Dec. 12. Herbert suffered the injury Week 14 against the Broncos.

    Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts

    • The Colts rookie QB suffered an AC joint sprain in his right (throwing) shoulder against the Tennessee Titans on Oct. 8. It was decided that Richardson would have surgery to repair the joint, ending his season.

    Deshaun Watson, Cleveland Browns

    • The Browns' franchise quarterback had season-ending surgery to repair a displaced fracture to the glenoid in his right (throwing) shoulder. He suffered the injury in the first half of the Browns' Nov. 12 win against the Ravens but stayed in and finished the game.

the competition in the nfc has been worse.  In SF you need just a competent qb to win there. Therr losing streak occured when they were without their offense weapons.

for Indy getting a veteran was better for this season than ride with a rookie.

in the AFC the QB teams

jets— long term, Rodgers expect to play next 3 yrs.

Steelers— maybe if they get the right offense. Do t need to do a qb change

Broncos— spat between coach and qb

    Raiders— who knows

    for NFC

    Giants

    Commandoes

    Vikings— need a future wb

    Bears— see a qb change?

    Falcons

    Bucs

    Saints— need a young qb

    Cardinals— maybe Kyler is traded

Rams— need a youth QB for future

    Seahawks- need a young qb

More precisely stadium in Potomac Yard in Alexandria by 2028.  This will result in major traffic issues. At least there is a metro station now.

    https://www.alxnow.com/2023/12/13/just-in-washington-capitals-and-wizards-are-officially-moving-to-potomac-yard/

The current team is in China block not Maryland.    WTF team is in Maryland.

I live less than a mile from the proposed new site.  I work in downtown DC area.

Arena was previously in Landover in suburban Maryland and thrn moved to downtown DC area near the central portion of DC where many of the subway lines get to.

The problems with the current location —

post Covid downtown section which runs from the arena are to George Washington university area north of the White House/ mall area is 90%+ office buildings and hotels with lityke residential areas.

When Covid happened this area got gutted. You used to be able to be placed anywhere and a Starbucks could be found within in 3 blocks.  Post Covid only about 3 or so survived.

This area was loaded with lobby firms. They moved offices to more mixed use neighborhoods where things still survived.

today buildings are only about 50% capacity if that.  There is long term concerns in this area.  You are losing many of the higher paying jobs.

    on the new location——

this area was an old rail yard which is how it got the name Potomac yard.  the area was roughly the Potomac river to the east along with main rail line/ parallel subway, GE parkway, there is a creek called 4 mile run thst makes thr Arlington/ Alexandria boundary with the southern end of DCA at the mouth of the creek.  US 1 on the west.

In the late 90s they built a large big box shopping center with a regal cinema behind it.  The lot was along US 1 just inside Alexandria.  The big box retailers currently there are target, Best Buy, Barnes and noble, michaels, old navy, pet store chain, previously their was a pier one and a local grocery chain but now thst has become a total wine, and tj max moving to thst space.

south of the shopping center they constructed primarily residential apartments/ condo area with bottom floor having retail space.  One of local supermarket chains, Giant,  has a store under one of these ( Giant and Tops used to be owned by the same company)

the metro station has bern talked about since this lot and planned development occurred. Pre Covid they final said they’d do it. Covid delayed it.  The movie theater closed ehrn Covid happened.

pre Covid there was a redevelopment plan for this shopping area besides the metro station.  As part of Amazon HQ bid they would build a Virginia tech campus in this new area that wouldn’t be far from Amazon hq.  Along with Virginia tech thst would tear down the lot and build high rise mix use buildings with retail space on the lower floors

right now they are in phase 1. This is the area between the rail tracks and the local side street behind thr shopping center.  The new arena would go in this area.  Building in herr won’t cause much traffic problems. Currently this road is already down to 1 lane each way ( from 2 lanes each way) due to building construction.

phase 2 is the northern part of the shopping center

    phase 3 is southern end.

around 2030 or so is when it was planned to be completed.

    traffic flow in this area……

because of the Potomac river and 4 mile run creek there are traffic choke points due to limited bridge crossings.

across the Potomac you have 395 to the north and the beltway 495/95 to the south. There are a few other bridges north of 395.  About a half mile south is an entry point to the parkway.  US 1 is the primary north / south route between 395 and beltway.  Between US 1 and 395 there are a few local roads connecting the two.

along US 1 it’s 2-3 lanes each way.  In old town Alexandria US 1 splits to local roads that are one way. George Washington parkway becomes a city street in Alexandria called Washington before it becomes a parkway agsin.

the plan is designed around most people getting there via metro/ subway system.  The redevelopment area was planning on having some parking garage structure.
