don’t see jets being that good.

jets non common are Atlanta , houston snd Cleveland.

bills are jags, bengals, and tb.

I am not sold on the jets just because of Aaron.  He’s not that big of a difference maker.

I think jags can win division but not that good of a record. Last year they were what a 500 team.  Thst might get to a 10-7 record.

kc in their division will get knocked down a few pegs and possibly be just a WC.

div winner—- bills, Bengals, Jags, chiefs/ chargers.

WC chiefs/ chargers then the last 2 spots will be a battle with many teams ..many of these teams will be bunched up around 6-6 and thrn some emerge.

for NFC— cowboys, lions, wide open, 49ers

WC Seahawks, the eagles nd  bears in a battle with many others around 9-8.

nes a 7 th round on a top team in thr league with a lot of depth already.  Usually 6 th, 7 th rounders aren’t going to make the team to start. Thry are usually designated for PS

id like the league to adopt a protected prospect development of those drafted 5th or later or undrafted wherr thry can go on PS for 1 yr without having to clear waivers. But it means they are 100% PS for the season.thry can’t get plucked by other teams.  Limit of 4. These are for 2 years or less prospects with exceptions for full season injury loses.

    really…next Wyatt teller?

big difference. Teller was trade out of his rookie camp not 2 yrs in.

bills traded him because of him possibly getting cut due to depth and injuries.

were you able to play through it at all? I know it is probably a bad idea, but I have been bracing the knee and continuing to do some sports, like bball and golf. For bball, I am taking it easier— sort of trying not to cut hard, etc. Haven’t had more issues yet, but obviously the knee isn’t right. (Going to see a doc next week).

That doesn’t sound like a meniscus tear.  I had one and had surgery.  My left knee was unstable and hurt. Had to use a cane.

It’s weird. I am not feeling a lot of pain, but some instability and “crunchiness and clicking, and just not cutting like I need to. I played hoops this morning and did this pivot (trying not to put weight on that bad leg), and just fell on my butt. Very embarrassing. But I figure if I can get some PT and just kind of be careful playing through it, I won’t have to miss time playing sports, which is my major form of exercise.

It sounds like a torn meniscus.  Had a tear on my left d had surgery in oct 2019.  My knee was unstable and would give out. Had to use a cane. Thr dr finished the year and took about 30% out.

    false……

most of a teams roster turns over significantly over a 4 year period even with stable coaching/GM..

your core players you drafted, you keep long term ( QB, WR, OT, OL, DL, LB, CB)

with other places you use free agency and drafting to fill in holes.

from drafting/ prospect development from PS you are looking about 35-40 players while the rest of the roster of 20 or so players you drafted or signed to multi- year contracts as free sgents.

It's probably the worst trade in NFL history. At a bare minimum it's a top 5 worst trade of all time. The 49ers have locked in their trade value and could look even worse if Lance somehow redeems his career and/or if Purdy sucks.

There are fortunately is no health limitation’s with anybody so walking is not a problem. A couple of people in the group were interested in a little shopping, also in any attractions. We are 100% doing the falls, and all have passports!  I realize it’s not a huge city and personally I’m grateful. Ha ha. Really just open to any and everything. Last year when it was just me and my boy, we only had time for a couple of meals before we had to fly back after the game. We went to Duffs and Picassos pizza both were  absolutely delicious!  Anyway, I hope that clarifies the expectations a little bit and I know it’s vague… your replies are super helpful.

buffalo has a small light rail line test takes you to waterfront/ downtown area where you have the hockey arena. In October their might be a hockey game going on then.

Allentown area is a walkable area with shops snd restaurants.

niagsra falls…you can walk over the rainbow bridge. The American side is a state park. The Canadian side is heave tourist area. The Canadian side you can see the falls from a better view.

in north tonawanda near the canal therr is a walkable part with some stores snd restaurants.  History lesson…..the Erie Canal entered the Niagara river not in buffalo but along the tonawanda creek ehich is the border of niagara and Erie count and has thecities of north tonawanda and tonawanda.  In the city of tonawanda side therr is a decent city waterfront park you can walk along on bike paths.

pizza and wing places you can find all over the place.each area has their own local places they go too. Many of thrm tend to be take out only with not many tables to eat at.

Good morning. After more than 20 years as a fan of the Bills, this year I will fulfill one of the biggest dreams of my life and I will travel from Argentina with my brother to see them play live against the Raiders at home and then with Comanders (or whatever they are going to be called at that point in the season) as a visitor.

First, I wanted to thank everyone who day by day makes this forum the best sports forum in the world and who have helped at least my passion for the Bills grow to unsuspected limits.

Although I have been following this forum for years, there are some doubts that I have and with which you may be able to help me:

    - We will be stopping, I think, at the Lenox Hotel. Looking at google maps I see that you can go to the stadium with the bus number 14. I ask you if this is possible and how long it takes approximately. Will it be very complicated then the return? If there is any other better option, please tell me.

    - Regarding the tickets, I have doubts whether to go to home side (I understand it is the sunny side) or if it is better to go on the opposite side.

    - What time do you recommend we arrive at the stadium? ¿10/11 am?

    - Apart from Niagara Falls, which other places recommend we visit in the city (we will only be there on Saturday and Sunday of the game).

    - To go for a walk around the city I see that there is a public bicycle rental system, is this correct?

    - What place do you recommend us to eat? It does not have to be luxurious but something that makes us feel that we are living the Buffalo experience.

Any other recommendation you can make would be appreciated.

Sorry for so many questions I'm Go Bills!

Ps: If someone comes to travel to Buenos Aires, do not hesitate to contact me!

I like in the DC area…can give you stuff about there.

Well, they are not arbitrary. There is a definite ranking. That's why Nantz and Romo will almost always get the top game each week, depending on how CBS ranks the games (this year a lot of Jets games). Same reason why McCarthy and Lofton get worse games. A lot depends on potential TV viewership, time/day slot (perhaps a Christmas day or eve matchup), and players they want to showcase, like Bryce Young early on. KC is also really popular, obviously, because of Mahommes, his MVP's, and their SB's.

KC gets more late slots because they get to play 3 late games at least by  playing at their div teams

Your profits are from Internet service. Which consumers need to stream the media they have replaced cable with.

Cable = / = Internet in my mind. But if it does in yours, that may be the disconnect. Since we are talking about ESPN - a television channel - I thought that was obvious. Cable TV will disappear but their internet service will remain.

    .

rxcept cable isn’t going to die.

With streaming services raising fees it becomes a thing of what is the cheapest option.

you have the same issues with streaming as with cable where you have to pay for the full family of stations, not just the one or two you want.

There are several fundamental flaws in the business model for ESPN and most network sports departments:

    1. Studio shows: With the exception of TNT's NBA show with Kenny Smith, Charles Barkley, Shaq and Ernie Johnson, they are all horrible and pretty much unwatchable. Networks have loaded up these shows with ex players and coaches with bloated salaries. This would be one of the first areas I would cut. The challenge ESPN has vs. the others that just air the games is they have 24 hours of airtime to fill every day.

Halftime shows are a joke. If you have a 15 minute halftime (and NFL is 12) on TV there is about 6 minutes of commercials, another 1-2 minutes cut in back to the game before the 2nd half resumes. That leaves about 4-5 minutes on NFL games, maybe 7 for the NBA or college hoops. If you have 4-5 people on the broadcast, and go around 3 times so each person gets about 20-30 seconds to make a point. Hardly in-depth analysis.

I'd go with showing highlights, update scores around the league and be done with it. Pre-game shows I would reduce to no more than 30 minutes and simply preview the games.

    2. Game commentators: Virtually no one watches a game to hear what the commentators have to say, they are watching the game. Viewers want competency, not name recognition in their broadcasters. So I'd get rid of the high-priced, high-profile no value add commentators. The other aspect of broadcast crews is the sheer number on a game. Lots of 3 person booths, sideline reporters which contribute nothing meaningful, and of course the Gene Steratores or the world deciphering officials' calls. Bloated booths have to go. You could easily go from a crew of 5 to 3 at most.

The coaches/managers interviews in football, basketball and baseball are awful. Coaches hate it, they never say anything of substance.

    3. Simulcasts: Every game is shown on TV and there is a radio broadcast too. You end up with 3 broadcast crews: one for TV and a radio crew for each team. The stars of the game are not the broadcasters, it's the players. If I was a TV network, I would use the local radio crews for the TV feed, with the visiting team's crew doing the first half and the home team crew doing the 2nd half and any overtime. This would save a ton of money not only with the on-air talent but there has to be savings on production costs.

    4. "Experts": Huge overkill. Do you need both Todd McShay and Mel Kiper? Are they really any better at predicting drafts than anyone doing some modest level of research online today? I would get rid of a lot of them and instead of having a lot of these guys under contract throughout the year you could do per-diem or contract employee (1099) deals. They would become part-time employees and in addition to reducing the annual wage outlays you could eliminate benefit costs since part-timers and 1099 employees don't get benefits (and 1099 employees the company doesn't pay payroll taxes).

These are major changes in the business model but when the current model is broken, you have to make major changes.

the issue with 24/7 sports networks is the daytime ratings on M-F.

most fans watching games are not obsessed sports nuts.  They know there team but not much else.  Thr sports stars in the broadcast booth will attract viewers.  Just because they were a good athlete and popular star, does not make them a great tv personality or game analyst.

The reason they had Todd mcshay is because he manages a site they acquired. He had bern the manager of that group for a long time.  They did not hire another drsft guru as you seem to think.

radio announcers need to be different than tv announcers.  It’s a more descriptive format.  Nation radio gets its re ensue stream from radio affiliate fees.  Their operating expenses are covered by the radio fees.

nfl is very different with a true national contract. Local markets don’t have their own tv crews.  Other sports it’s different. Local teams need local crews.

From a profitability standard you could pay the crews on a show a base pay rate then a bonus tied to the ratings/ ad revenue made.

same with major shows like espn sports center…the anchors pay is tied to viewership/ ad revenue.

what has hurt espn has hurt all cable channels and newspapers and the issue of internet access and wanting to see/ read it now.

  19. The thing in TV sports is that experts can easily be replaced with cheaper labor ( the recently retired athletes like thry were).

same with print media. The reason you might keep 20 year veterans is because of something you can measure like resdship or page hite or something else that can drive subscription fees.

some columnists have good writing skills and has established insider relationships to get info….which can be hard to do.

those beat writers generally covering the team can get churned over because basic skill sets don’t advance much with age/ experience.

thr big problrm I have is with long time personalities like Suzy Kolber and Neil Everett…these peop,e have bern on ESPN for a long time.  Out of respect they should be able to go in a way better than a tweet.
