The starters look good but the issue is DEPTH. any of these guys get hurt and we are toast where as last year we had competent backups.
-
that's funny you mentioned that because those were the clips they used at the draft to show how effective Stanley was and how ineffective Shaq is as a pure pass rusher. because he had 1 play where he caught Stanley off balance with a spin move? how about the 50 plays where all Shaq could do was bull rush? watch the film you linked at the end of the 3rd and beginning of 4th quarter and watch how winded Shaq is. i remember watching that and thinking oh no this guy looks slow and if he's slow in college then he's going to be a snail at the pro level. what he does do well is he extends his arms and seals the edge while being in a good position to make a play. he will be good against the run
-
if he's making the play it's because he's a big strong guy that is holding the edge and the play runs right into him. Mario couldn't keep contain in a similar role so this can be good for us
-
so you think Lorenzo Alexander is one of the best players in the league at sacking the QB? because he was last year. and that's because Hughes and Dareus were in the backfield every play and the QB was trying to get away from them. same will happen with Shaq now that he is the edge player yes correct, I agree. i'm just stating the obvious for guys that think he is going to be like Bruce Smith sacking the QB every play. that's not his game and that's fine. he will play his role
-
he will play better but he looks really slow. i doubt he is a big sack guy in this league. he will set the edge and play his role. he might have like 7-8 sacks and everyone will be like SEE HE'S GOOD but that will be because Hughes and Dareus flushed the QB his way much like what happened with Alexander last season

Mathematically eliminated from the playoffs in July. That's why I don't like doing these. I had Pats going 15-1 and beating the Packers in the Super Bowl. Yuckkkk. The good news is I had KC going 7-9 and we go 8-8 and we have the 11th and 13th pick in the draft -
i'm surprised there aren't any votes for OT. Glenn is not healthy and hasn't even practiced to date and Henderson has some serious issues with his Crohn's disease and use of marijuana as a medical aid (not approved for use by the NFL). that really only leaves Dawkins (rookie) and Mills (terrible). they must be expecting that Kouandijo is going to be suspended for them to cut him from a position group that is so thin.
-
i'll say this...i like the first name on the depth charts and sometimes the second in some of the deeper position groups, but after that there is a HUGE dropoff. if our top player at any of the positions goes down we are in big trouble. what you would want to see as a backup would be someone who is worthy of possibly being a starter but was beat out by the starter. i don't see that at any position besides DT and C unfortunately. they better keep these guys healthy
-
As we prepare to head to camp, I've noticed a couple of positions that look pretty thin. I was hoping some of these positions would be filled with free agency but the signings this offseason have been pretty underwhelming. We would like to think we will be able to get everyone to the season healthy but you know how things go. Going into 2017, what position group do you see as the biggest hole on our roster?

Amazon's All or Nothing Series w/Rams (Bills Related)
K D replied to blacklabel's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the Rams were probably the most boring team there was to follow besides the Browns, Jets, and 49ers...so they did Hard Knocks AND All or Nothing with them. the NFL is unaplogetically money hungry and they are trying so hard to make LA a football town. but nobody cares about the Rams or Chargers. there might have been a tiny bit of interest with the Raiders because they have roots there and are pretty decent now, but people in LA are more intersted in what Angelina Jolie wears to the Oscars than what one of the terrible football teams in town are doing -
good article on analytics in the NFL

They are putting a lot of faith in Lorax to be able to switch positions and replicate his unicorn of a season in a different scheme and as a 34 year old. He's a good leader and I like his attitude but I don't think his play on the field is sustainable. He will do ok but that will be a position of need they will need to address next offseason -

the media likes to make it a story. whatever he wants to do in his own bedroom should be nobody's business. not sure why anyone would care

I was out with a friend of mine (who is a girl) in Orange County, CA a few years back and being the gold digger that she is, she went up to this older guy with a nice suit and expensive watch. After chatting him up she came back and said no luck, he's gay and has a partner (couldn't marry in CA back then). Also they got to talking and he was a former NFL player, played in the 80's and 90's. I didn't catch his name and didn't really care at the time but the point is there are plenty of former players who are "out" and there are plenty of people still playing who are not so I don't see why this is even a story. There's gay people in football? Wow who cares

Most likely TANK theory I've heard thus far...
K D replied to #34fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
well they should have so they could guarantee a top QB in the draft. i think they are giving Tyrod 1 last shot and hoping they can still get a good QB in the draft but that's pretty risky since the Jets and 49ers will be gunning for the top QB's -

all they would have needed to do was start Cardale Jones. they can play as hard as they want, they aren't winning -

haha well the point was that you better have one of the best QB's in the game if you want to win. true, the Pats got lucklier than any team in history with Brady but the point being the QB is so important that you better be drafting one every year until you get one maybe not EVERY year but when there is a draft with good QB's projected to go 1 and 2 you better be tanking to get them. last year there weren't any QB's that fit that description. there weren't in 2013 or 2014 either. this year Darnold and Rosen are probably 1,2 and that doesn't even factor in other QB's who have had a ton of success and are expected to be great pros like Rudolph, Falk, or Allen. there might be 5 first round QB's this year. we better get whoever we think is the best out of the bunch AT ALL COSTS
