  1. i go outside to yard work and all hell breaks loose. i cant leave you guys alone for a few hrs without the team imploding? good god! before everyone jumps off a bridge, Darby doesn't fit the scheme and Watkins wasn't coming back anyhow. we are a 6-7 win team. might as well build for the future. Beane and McDermott showing they are in it for the long haul not just a few mediocre years and done like all others before them
  2. i think the 49ers were fibbing to try and get someone looking for a QB to trade with them and it worked
  3. can't wait to see Mahomes tonight. if he looks good there really might be a riot
  4. he used to catch 5 on the opening drive in college
  5. is there going to be a replay of this game? i'd like to check it out. i was extremely skeptical of Trubisky as a one hit wonder in a lackluster conference. the Bears gave up a ton to move up 1 spot to get him. i'm surprised to hear he did so well and i'd like to see for myself. sounds like the Bears might have won the lottery because those are the odds i would have given them for him to turn out to be a franchise QB
  6. He will need to prove it consistently. We should know for sure after a couple of regular season games. My belief is he will revert back to what he knows and that's running around and trying to make plays and that's not what the coaches want
  7. Point is we don't know what we have with Peterman. Keep challenging him and see how he responds. Yates is a 3rd string QB who is about to be out of the NFL. Tyrod, while exciting at times, is what he is at this point. Peterman needs to be playing against the 2's and getting more reps after last night. If he continues to excel then challenge him some more. If he takes a step back then work with him on what he's doing wrong and see if he can overcome it and continue to develop. After what I saw from Tyrod he is done after this year. Holding the ball still. As bad as Yates was at least he got rid of the ball correctly and ran the offense as called. Peterman was getting it out quick too. Tyrod is what he is. Wants to hold the ball and scramble and make big plays instead of 3-4 yard plays. Won't work in this offense
  8. This has been my argument since joining TBD many years ago. Why put X quarterback out there to be a .500 team? We would have had a QB by now if someone listened to me. Tyrod is just the next in a long line of .500 quality QB's. We haven't had a real QB since Bledsoe that had the potential to get us where we wanted to go. Lots of dicking around with sub par QB's where the argument has been maybe if we had a good RB and dominant defense then we might have a shot because such and such team did it without a QB once. Peterman outplayed Yates and deserves a shot with the 2's next game. We know Yates doesn't have it. Let's see what we have otherwise let's keep looking!
  9. Yates go bye bye if he plays like that again
  10. i think we are a 7-9 team. a couple of close games and that could easily be 9-7 or 5-11. i don't think there is a difference plus or minus 2 games
  11. I agree with this one. I think Darnold needs to prove he's not a 1 hit wonder but that's how I would rank them right now
  12. **** yea! I was just thinking the other day hey I'm starting to get in pretty good shape from working out and eating better and then I thought oh well I'm about to undo that all now that it's football season!
  13. McCaffrey looks gooood please god dont let him ever end up on the Pats. the biggest bust will be Trubisky. the Bears gave up way too much to move up 1 spot. they were competing with themselves, not sure why they had to move up 1 spot. a rookie GM took them for a ride on that one
  14. I did you have a good memory!
  15. when i was a kid we went to training camp in Fredonia and waited for the players after practice to sign autographs. Rob Johnson walked right by us like we werent even there and hopped on a golf cart and took off without saying a word. my cousin said "what a jerk!" and John Fina was nearby signing and got really mad at him and said WHAT DID YOU SAY? but honestly he was. every single other player stayed and signed and primadona RJ was too busy apparently. got Flutie's autograph and became a Flutie fan ever since
  16. i didnt watch the game but Watson is a star. he's at least as good as Dak (who might be a tad overrated so don't everyone get your panties in a bunch) and could have a similar type year given that the Texans are pretty decent at every position except QB (much like the Cowboys were)
  17. are 6 of their games the bills, fins, jets? then Pats they need to change that, it's so boring playing the division twice every season. just make it so you play them once so it's more meangingful of a game when they do play
  18. It's either going to add much needed structure to what he needs to do, which will help fix his biggest issue (holding on to the ball and not anticipating the receiver breaking open), or he simply won't be able to do it and they will have to get someone in there that can. Watching TT's highlights he does best when he's scrambling and improvising so he might not be a fit for what they want to do. He likes making the big play, he might not be ok with taking the quick 3 yard play. Our coach in high school said just get 3 yards every play. If you get 3 yards then that's a success. Big plays are fun to watch in highlights on ESPN but it doesn't get you the W consistently.
  19. The bottom line is if Tyrod doesn't figure out the footwork and timing then he's not running the play as called. If he reverts back to holding onto the ball for 5 seconds and then running around and scrambling then he's going to be out of a job pretty quickly. It's very much set in stone, there's no ambiguity in this offense. This is how the play is run. There's no guesswork or improvising. 1, 2, 3, throw
  20. More time for Ed Hauckely to do arm curls
  21. Everyone wants to play basketball. Not everyone is 6'8". There will always be enough people playing football as a result. For some people it's the only way to get a college education or for a better life. It's not a choice for them like it is for upper and middle class Americans with options. As long as people like us watch football and the NFL and colleges make millions there will always be players looking for a share of that money
