  1. 1. Whaley traded to the Rams the #8 (Tavon Austin) and #71st (TJ McDonald) spot in the 2013 draft for #16 (Manuel), #46 (Alonso), #78th (Goodwin), and #222nd (Chris Gragg) in a year where we needed a QB. I think he did just fine. As expensive as he was, I think we should have kept Fitzpatrick here at least another year rather than relying on Kolb. 2. Watkins will be debated until the end of time, we don't need to rehash that. 3. I'll give you trading a 4th for Bryce Brown. I'm not sure what the plan is there. 4. Trading Kiko for McCoy was a fantastic trade. For starters the top 10 RB's in 2014 were ages: 26, 23, 26, 28, 29, 28, 24, 22, 31, 23. The whole age thing is overblown. Secondly, we traded from our strength (the defense) to bolster our weakness (the offense). They offered CJ money, he declined. What would our running game be like had CJ went to the Saints, and we not had McCoy? You say we could have just simply signed Murray? He was top RB last year by far, he commanded money, and had his pick of who he felt was his best fit. To say he could have simply been signed is a bit like saying we could've just signed Manning in 2012, instead of drafting Manuel in 2013 albeit not as extreme. Picking an RB at 50 could be done sure. It also takes away from our other area of need such as O line. Lastly, who is there at 50 that experts are saying will out rush the top RB's in the league as a rookie? I have a feeling this will turn into a Beckham thing, when people take that rookie that came out of nowhere, and say "look we could've gotten "rookie RB" and still had Kiko! Playoffs will make all of that go away though. 5. I'm kind of with you on Cassel, although it seems Whaley wanted to be sure to get that Vet QB since we "lost" out on McCown. He didn't want to be left out with no Vet, like last year. Hoyer, although he is a 7 year vet, he has exactly 2 seasons of games under his belt. Cassel has 90 games in 10 seasons.
  2. Oh I see. I guess I am just eagerly anticipating this haha. Less than 150 days til opening day!
  3. When do we normally find out if this comes through? I know you did this last year, is it pretty quick after the schedule is released? Just curious because I want to get a ticket for my nephews Bday which is May 3rd.
  4. Past performance does not guarantee future results....especially when you are talking about different players. Honestly I don't think it was much of anything about anyone. He also tells (I think) Orton not to self destruct later in the video after the pick six. I don't think it's a good idea to take most of what these guys say as deep thoughts when they are miked up. Amaro on the other hand, I think he was just kissing up to the new coach and throwing his old one under the bus at the same time haha.
  5. Although I don't doubt that Manuels performance made the WR's feel a little helpless, it is hard to tell what Watkins meant by that without any context. He might've been just been telling Chandler he needs to step it up on his routes because damn " Orton is throwing it". (added damn for tone). Or he could've been making a comparison between the two qbs "damn this guy can throw!". Hard to determine, I'm leaning towards Orton not connecting with Chandler on a route, and Watkins throwing his 2 cents in. Either way, I don't think the WR's gave up on EJ, frustrated maybe, but they didn't give up. If they did give up on Manuel, and now Watkins is making comments that EJ is "throwing better", and he is a "different guy" then that is a large vote of confidence from Watkins that EJ has improved since then.
  6. Ah sorry, I assumed it was just the quotes I read yesterday and didn't click the link. My bad.
  7. If you have the actual interview that would be great. Otherwise I'm not sure what you are arguing. Secondly, I just put the two quotes from Yolo's thread together, so they might not be in the right order. Just combining Sammy's quotes about EJ. I was never a fan of this argument for most player quotes. Although I don't think it is in Sammy's character, he can bad mouth him, or slip up and say something negative. Half of the NFL story lines are of that sort. He can also say nothing or very little. He didn't need to elaborate on EJ working hard or being a "different" man. I wouldn't take it as everyone believes Manuel is the starter now. I would take it as his teammates having faith that he can turn it around and it is up to him to be successful.
  8. Both quotes put together: Sammy on EJ, "EJ is stepping up. He's come back and worked on his footsteps. A different guy. That's my guy. I believe in him 100% & I told him that whether he's the starter or not. He's a totally different guy." #Bills EJ knows it is up to himself to win this starting job. That said, kind words, and confidence from your teammates always helps.
  9. After the Jets hired Bowles (Jan 15th) those same experts that he cited were claiming Marrone has nothing to worry about, and he will easily find a head coaching position elsewhere for the same reasons they originally stated.
  10. How can anyone say Orton was exciting? The games we won, we won in spite of his play. Detroit? Cleveland? Green Bay? All of those games were up in the air far too long because of poor offense. No one knows if EJ would have done better, but after his first few games Orton sunk like a rock. After the first Jets game, I was starting to see no difference between Orton and EJ's first four games.
  11. I don't know how I feel about that statistic because I haven't actually looked into it myself. However, I only have to go as far as Matt Forte, Marshawn Lynch, and Fred Jackson to find evidence that the trend isn't actually accurate. The elite qualifier shouldn't matter, because we are looking for a level of play at 27 that is consistent or improved on their prior years. The Bills are devoting on avg $8 million a year to LeSean McCoy ($5.5, $7.6, $8.8, $8.9, $9.0) for someone they know is going to perform. As for the QB situation, while I agree it may limit our success, the object of his rating was extending a very good RB's contract. I am not sure what the QB situation has to do with this at all. Is it preventing us from signing that free agent QB out there? It is akin to saying "I don't know why he took the shot, they were down 5-3 anyway. Might as well start fresh next game" Well now we are 5-4.
  12. I think because he posts things like this, that people tend to hate on him. I mean come on. Complaining about McCoy's contract when he has been a top RB in the league for the last 3 out of 4 years? Complaining about a contract when we are paying $4 million less this year? In the end we are paying him 9, but that is practically fluff, that we can choose to pass on since it is only $2.6 in dead cap. Running backs grow on trees? Give me a break. Bills don't have a QB, so they shouldn't be trying to better our team because all of it is useless until we get a QB? Why bother trying to win now because we won't? Might as well dismantle the defense now, and sell off our great players for future draft picks, we all know we aren't going to win, right? Obviously this is just one example, but it is pretty damning.
  13. While the opportunity cost argument is valid, you are missing two key pieces of information before you know if you are right or not. 1. The impartial comparison of the WR class performance for their first few years. (hindsight) 2. Who would have been available at #19 this year, that would have been the "opportunity cost." You don't have the first, and the 2nd is hard to determine, because we don't know. Let's assume it was Ebron since that is something we did hear. Would we rather have Ebron and Dorial Green-Beckham? Or Clay (with a salary) and Sammy Watkins? I think I'd still take Sammy. If not Green-Beckham, who plus Ebron would you like us to take in 2015? If not Ebron, then who should we have drafted in 2014? Without hindsight.
  14. True. But would taking Ramsey mean we wouldn't be dealing with Gilmore then? Or do you think they would go this route either way? Of course this is all speculation though.
  15. I know there is no telling if we will sign Gilmore long term, but haven't the Bills already announced that we are exercising his 5th year option? A replacement may need to be drafted, but he will be on the team next year, and not free agency. Maybe it wasn't important enough to update that. I think it changes things a bit. We will see though.
  16. I don't know. I'd rather fly under the radar going into the season. If we went 4-0 in the preseason (which means essentially nothing), then imagine the media hype around us. They are already talking about us now, imagine the "dream team" treatment at our first loss in the regular season. Under the radar until the playoffs is fine with me! I wouldn't mind an undefeated streak in the regular season though That just can't be helped!
  17. Before she came to work, my coworker just fell for the "The files on your device are corrupted, please call this number to have us repair it, or else you will lose access to everything on your device" scheme. She called, and she paid them $70.00 with a credit card to "fix" it. They actually fixed it for her by restoring her Ipad which I find hilarious. Money well spent am I right!? Luckily her bank recognized it was fraudulent and stopped it, as it tried charging $100 separately in addition to the $70.00. Then it went on to attempt to charge different dollar amounts 5 more times. She is getting a new credit card, and is no worse for wear besides feeling very dumb.
  18. The question is was it Chips ego, or was it McCoy's? Seems to be Chips ego since he didn't seem to get a long with any of the playmakers on that team. Andy Reid did just fine with McCoy, Jackson, and Maclin. I think Chip's got to sit back relax and let the players take or get some credit sometimes.
  19. I may need 3-4. Edit: Definitely 3-4. Maybe 5-6 if I'm not too late!
  20. San Diego exploited our oline, and every team followed that blue print to the demise of our offense with EJ or with Orton. EJ's first 10 games weren't bad.
  21. The top three teams in each division get automatic playoff berths. Then 2 wild cards are awarded out of the remaining top (10 in the East, 8 in the West) teams in the overall conference for 20% chance for a wildcard. For example the East Metropolitan M1 New York Rangers M2 New York Islanders M3 Washington Atlantic A1 Montreal A2 Tampa Bay A3 Detroit Wildcards W1 Pittsburgh W2 Boston If you wanted to get real technical, the Patriots have a 25% chance to win their division plus a 16% chance to win a wildcard for a total 41% chance to make the playoffs (Slightly higher than my rough 37% projection) The Sabres have a 37% chance to be in the top 3 in their division plus a 20% chance for a wildcard for a total 57% chance to make the playoffs (Slightly higher than my rough 53% projection) Patriots meet the curve at 40%. Sabres exceed the curve at 67%. Patriots have tainted championships. Sabres have none (albeit were cheated in one) Like I said though. Apples and Oranges.
  22. While this is true, the Patriots still had 10 more years as well. Straight NHL Playoff odds 53.33%, Sabres made it 67.44% of the time since 1970. Straight NFL Playoff odds 37.50%, Patriots made it 40% of the time since 1960. Those are rough odds since both the NHL and NFL had fewer teams in the early years, but this really isn't the point though, it was comparing apples to oranges from the start. The point was that people have much more respect for the Patriots organization than the Sabres. The Sabres have been plenty successful in their own right, so no I don't think that is true. The Patriots have been riddled with scandels on cheating, and have not won anything since they were caught cheating, and were involved with yet not one, but two scandels for cheating on their most recent run. I'll wait for his specific examples of the Sabres wrongdoing before I pronounce the Sabres organization as "worse" than the Patriots Organization.
