  1. Do you not understand that this wouldn't have been such a huge issue if Brady would have tackled the issue head on instead of acting like an idiot going "I dunno that is shocking! " He tried to play everyone for a fool, and so naturally everyone will tear him down for it.
  2. I'm not saying you are outraged, but people clearly are. I still would like to know if anyone knows exactly what was paid for then. Do we know if they paid for the airtime so that there wasn't a commercial during the ceremony? Do we know how much went to signs promoting the military? How much went to ads on BuffaloBills.com? Did they simply pay for the right to walk on the field at certain points? Did the Military have to bring their own football field sized flag? Did the Military have to make signs for tens of thousands of fans that will all line up to make a "Thank You" or "USA" in the crowd? Yes all of that costs money. People don't work for free. Maybe I can get mad at the NFL for not pushing the money away and saying "no this one is on us", but not until I know all of the facts on what was paid for. In the end, unless we ask for volunteers to do the legwork, it costs money either way, and until it is proven otherwise, I am not so sure it was simply net profit for the owners. Yes it is an honor. Just like it is an honor to sing the national anthem before the games. It is also an ad for young people thinking about the military, and it is also to refresh in peoples minds that these people are out there defending our freedoms. These aren't mutually exclusive things.
  3. I'm still not getting the outrage. Is it that the government spent money on this? Or that the NFL charged them? Do people actually know what the money was spent on? Someone quoted on the front page that some of the Buffalo Bills money went to signage, and stuff on the BuffaloBills.com website. Either way, just because you didn't know it was sponsored by the military doesn't change anything. It just means you were fooled into thinking the Buffalo Bills (or NFL) were being super patriotic. That shouldn't make a difference in your regard for the Military or what it meant to you. I thought it was tasteful thing to see. These people deserve to be honored for their service even if it is sponsored by their bosses.
  4. I am not sure that I would call this a cash cow. $5 million in 4 years between 14 teams? "The United States Department of Defense paid the National Football League more than $5 million in taxpayer money between 2011 to 2014 to honor U.S. soldiers and veterans at games, an investigation revealed this week." "The investigation revealed the Atlanta Falcons collected just over a million dollars, the most cash for any team, and the Green Bay Packers received the single largest payment of $400,000.00" "In New Jersey, the Defense Department and the New Jersey Army National Guard paid the New York Jets a total of $377,000 during the four-year period, according to the federal contracts"
  5. Next thing you know, people will be investigating why the government is paying for those proud to be a Marine commercials. Shouldn't these networks just be willing to do it on their own? Edit: I think people are just mad because they themselves were hoodwinked into thinking it was something genuine. However, you don't need the NFL's charity to make it genuine to yourself.
  6. My one niner fan friend seems to have a grudge against him because he supposedly made the wrong call in the super bowl or something. I think it is just looking for someone to blame.
  7. Does anyone really think this was some vanity thing by the military to tote their officers around and get people to be proud of them? It was a recruitment tool to inspire a target audience at best. At the very least it was a tool to garner support for the military. Both things are not bad for the military, and are useful to the military. It was a calculated cost.
  8. I posted the first preseason game on there because I can't go, I'll be on a fishing trip. I don't know if anyone will buy them, but they are there on the exchange. I'm not a preferred vendor. Maybe it is a preseason thing.
  9. Data caps ruined the functionality of phones, and given the same quarter they will ruin the functionality of home internet. When possible they should be opposed on all fronts. If the provider cannot support so many customers then they should not have that many customers. It is utter BS to lower the quality of service for your customers, because you don't have the infrastructure to support them. This pisses me off quite a bit.
  10. I love that show. On another note this pic looks familiar https://twitter.com/viccarucci/status/606102538648211458 Can't find last years argument pic though. I swear there was one.
  11. Last year Philly kept running Polk (4) and Sproles (6) in red zone situations which is why McCoy's TD's (5) went down last year. I can see that happening here as well. Hard to tell with the coach change though.
  12. My notification said "Adrian Peterson plans to ret....." I can't get past the fact that they did that on purpose to get me to click on it. If it was "Adrian Peterson is return...." I wouldn't have clicked on it.
  13. Haha, I also had Stafford, after that first game against the giants, when he connected with megatron like 3 times I was so pumped because I had them both. The rest of the season was soooooo very disappointing but just good enough for me to inevitably start him week after week. That was the one league I didn't make the playoffs. Man I am really down on him now. Maybe I will take another shot if he falls. You are right about Rivers though. We will have to see how they utilize Gordon in his rookie year.
  14. This year feels like it'll be tougher than others. Last year I grabbed Beckham in all 3 leagues about 2 weeks before he got back (right before Cruz got injured) and he took me to 2 championships (1 win, 1 loss). This year, I am going to let people overdraft him. With Cruz back, he will still get big targets, and will still generate tons of points, but it won't be the 11 targets a game he is used to getting. stud? Maybe it is obvious, but since ESPN has him ranked as the 13th QB under Tannehill, 12 game Brady, I will say with his fresh new RB, and stevie johnson, he will be better than last year. Seriously, how can ESPN project Brady to have 20 more points than last year with 4 less games? In that case he will have to raise his points per game from 16.68 to 23.91. I know people think he will be playing mad, but really?
  15. Led the team in first downs last year. That's enough for me. If you watch his film last year, offensively he is a large part of why we went 9-7. (1 game we know for sure) Brown? Can be narrowed down to the very reason we didn't make the playoffs. Maybe it's because we gave something up for him, but geez, he hasn't done enough to warrant such a high ceiling. He had a good game against Chicago, and Oakland in 2013 to make him just barely get over the yards per carry of Dixon this year.
  16. Sorry, but deserving or not, he brings a stigma of cheating to anything we accomplish. Pass on Brady.
  17. Oh yeah, that is true. I guess the optimist in me thinks we will get a solid year before we know he is going to decline
  18. Nice stats. Also worth noting is that the cap hit for releasing him if his production does decline at 30 is $5.2 million, and decreases to $2.6 if we had to cut him at 31. Just for a comparison, we got hit with a dead cap $3m in 2013, and $7m in 2014, when we cut Fitzpatrick in 2013. Sure, different situation, but I find this to be a much more acceptable risk, and a better chance for a far greater reward.
  19. I think they had a few dozen 4ths to spare. I kid, but seriously, they practically doubled their drafts the last two years. http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?teamId=4500&type=team (Those were the picks they didn't trade away i.e. Stevie)
  20. Sad for me. His life on the practice squad sustained me, but now it might be over.
  21. That is lame and disingenuous. If Montana was coddled like Brady, he might've played as long as Brady. Or if Steve Young wasn't at his heels. Like I have said before, Brady was caught cheating himself. Then in addition, his team was caught cheating. On top of that, they screwed the Raiders out of a shot. That team is all out of breaks.
  22. You call that lame and disingenuous? But you fight tooth and nail to protect the patriots* from their actions? Gimme a break.
