  1. I''m of the opinion there are two ideal back-up QB's in the NFL today. There's the guys who are Hasselbacks or the like, once starters who have been in the NFL for many years. He's probably the best, but I mean the guys like McCown, Flynn etc. etc. They bring experience, they know their role, and they can help the starter from the bench. Then there's the other class of back-up QB's. The class who are developmental QB's. You don't get any of the benefits of the veteran experience, but they have potential. They may be long-term starters down the road (not likely but who knows). TT and Aaron Rodgers are here. And guys like Mettenberger, Murray and McCarron were/are those guys. EJ is neither, thus we should be looking to replace him. Because at the end of the day, if your starting QB goes down for an extended period of time, you're screwed unless you get insanely lucky. There's also an argument that we are in a win-now stage and our goals are just to make the playoffs, thus trading for a McCown or Hoyer to hopefully go .500 or more if/when TT misses a game or 3 would be a decent move. They would be improvements over EJ for the short-term and we would lose some assets. Either way, we can do better, and I hope we do.
  2. Who were you blaming the increased 3 and outs on? Certainly not injuries, that's a defense only argument. Certainly not new scheme, that's a defense only argument. Certainly not the loss of locker room leaders, that's a defense only argument. When talking about TT's improvement, did you not imply that his performance dictated our 3rd down success rate?
  3. Why not? Wasn't TT the difference between going from the 2nd worst 3 and out team to the the first?
  4. Against prevent? What lesson could he have learned? How many QB's take 3 years to realize they shouldn't collapse under pressure and turnover the ball 3 times in 1 minute? That may have been EJ's worst moment. I fail to see how it's, in any way, a positive. Give me a bum who is guaranteed to make a couple good throws and throw a pick or two in the red zone like Charlie Whitehurst. Not someone who has the possibility to play decent or completely implode at any moment. JMO.
  5. We'll never know, he never really tried. But probably not, you're right. It's a figure of speech.
  6. His play including highhandedly sinking the Jags game in the second Q? You don't expect your back-up QB to look like he's got money on the other team, IMO.
  7. He couldn't stay healthy because he never committed to playing football. I won't shed tears over a guy who didn't even want it.
  8. Good riddance. Enjoy your Olympic career, Flash.
  9. Actually, I said "and he's slow" in addition to another poster who called him an immature egoistical ahole. So let's try to think before we post next time.
  10. How many teams have missed the playoffs with the #1 defense?
  11. Falling short of expectations is the definition of failure. What nonsense is this?
  12. Extend Glenn and Gilmore and trade EJ for Hoyer or McCown.
  13. If I'm not mistaken, I believe it's derived from cuckold, which doesn't have racial undertones. This is the craziest level of idealism I've ever seen on the board. And I'm including 19-0 predictions.
  14. Clarence Hill Verified account ‏@clarencehilljr RIP to longtime agent Eugene Parker. He was a trailblazer and pioneer for black sports agents. Clients included Dion Sanders, Emmitt Smith
  15. Mike Williams does none of the other things you mention. Lazy, slow receivers are not Jerry Rice.
  16. Not with ILB depth/players. Which is the point of drafting an ILB, no? Not to draft trade bait. We have no idea his input in Pitt. I'll judge him based on the things I know he pulled the trigger on.
  17. Because he drafted two poor ILB's? Whaley having a talent for drafting poor ILB's, and trading them for decent non-ILB's doesn't really help our ILB position.
  18. I don't understand the point.
  19. What if Maxwell didn't have his Silver Hammer?
  20. I think he'd be one of those guys who is good enough to be a starter, but not good enough to be worth outbidding another team for. Like a Da'Norris Searcy type. Never great, just decent.
  21. Then I'd lose all my hard-earned credibility.
  22. Ragland, if drafted, would not get a second contract with the Bills, IMO. Picks like him should be avoided.
  23. If JJ could name the entire route tree without Googling, I'd be shocked.
