Here is the thing.  If you play them 10 times playoffs or regular season it is probably a split.   The fact the chiefs have won the playoff games is maybe indicative they are more clutch or maybe it’s just happenstance. No one can tell me they could not have won the last two playoff games.

Matt, I agree we are capable of beating the Chiefs, maybe even the most capable.

Do we get a comp pick?

For a coach?  I assume your joking.

As far as Dorsey, I’m always supportive of a guy getting another job.  Why they would choose him after his predictability is a head scratcher.  He’d be better as simply a QB coach.

I like Campbell.  Seems like a good guy and a good leader.  Those 4th down decisions, though, were bad.  Still, he turned around the franchise and led the team to their best season in 50+ years.

Campbell only won something like 4 of his first 23 games and somehow didn't get fired.  Sometimes owners - and fans - need to be patient.

Agreed.  I like Campbell as well and he turned that franchise around as McD did here from our 17 years of losing.  Johnson overall is a heck of an OC, and no one is perfect.

If you had to ask me to choose whether to fire beane or McDermott, I choose beane. Why? While he's overall built a competitive roster, he's utterly failed at drafting gane-changing players.

You know my position on some of his picks, but ask yourself honestly: would you rather have a Metcalf or an Oliver? Basham or Humphrey? AJE or Uche? I could go on, but beane seems to prefer a whole roster of average over high ceiling guys (oddly, with the exception of the QB).

Also, this team lacks speed all over the field on both offense and defense, and I'd argue that the lack of speed on defense is the most notable reason why this team has failed in the postseason.

Lastly, beane's cap management and free agent acquisitions have been suboptimal, and the cap issues are going to do us in this coming season, I get the feeling. So, if you're asking me who's holding the bag of failure, it's Brandon Beane.

It’s not Madden.  You’re not going to have 22 all stars on any team.

  5. I’ve only missed one SB since I was a little kid, and that was a work flight.  It was the GB/ Steelers game.  I may not be fond of either team, but I’m keenly aware after two weeks, there is no more football until September.  The XFL doesn’t count.  I tried to watch those games, but it didn’t appeal to me.  The talent is significantly less.

That can hang with KC.  Maybe Bengals when Glass Burrows is not sidelined.

It is so frustrating we can beat the Chiefs the last three years in a row in the regular season and we’ve lost this many times to them in the playoffs.  I know the Bills defense was really banged up, but we really shouldn’t make excuses.

  7. Babich will most likely get it.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Brady is retained as OC.

I'll put it this way: Desai was replaced midseason for Matt Patricia.

And how did that go?  Patricia is a waste of space just like every other BB disciple.

Just know…anyone out there who hasn’t experienced this FAMILY, that’s exactly what it is. A FAMILY. I can not tell you how humbled I am by the prayers and go fund me donations for me and my kids. Words will NEVER tell the story. We all read about the generosity and FAMILY dynamic, but until it happens to you, you can’t even fathom how meaningful it is.

I never met any of you, but you are praying for my wife who also loves the bills like you do know her. I can’t even see this screen from crying and I hope this makes sense. Whorlnut from 2 days ago will never exist again. A more humbled, softer man now takes his place.

As an update…we got amazing news about an hour ago. The nurses asked her to wiggle her toes and SHE DID!  Praise the Lord!  Please continue to pray for no setbacks and that she comes back to me and the rest of the family. Thanks again!!!

That’s great news.  We’ll keep praying for her.  I said three our fathers for her yesterday.

Well, today was the 33rd anniversary of the infamous "Wide Right". I realize it's a sore subject for many, and I hesitate to bring it up, but I just came across some videos from the game, and I watched in awe. Especially how people have aged (I put a screenshot of the young Belichick below) and the styles back then. Jim Kelly in a mullet, Lawrence Taylor with one dangling earring, etc. The 80's and early 90's were a weird, but fun time for those who lived through it.

The video clips brought back a ton of memories. I remember how Buffalo had destroyed everyone that year. Jim, Thurman, and Bruce were dominant. The opening of the ABC telecast with Hank Williams, Jr. also brought back chills.

A few things I learned today:

    1. The 47-yarder was Norwood's longest attempt ever on grass.

    2. For the SB, the Giants constructed an entirely-new defense, playing two versions of dime. Belichick had just two down lineman and they let Thomas do whatever he wanted to do. They knew there was no way to stop him. This was weird for them, since they had never allowed a running back to do that. BB said the strategy was to put as much speed on the D, take the crossing and inside routes away, knock the balls loose, and be as physical as they possibly could be with the WR's.

    3. On offense, they had a backup QB playing, and no one had ever won a SB with a backup. So they wanted to slow the game down as much as possible and shorten the game.

    4. Still, their plan almost failed due to the talent disparity. The Bills lost it by just three feet. Norwood had the leg strength, but just not the accuracy this time.

    9. Someone said in the comments to one of the tweets, that 9 out of 10 times, the Giants' strategy would have failed. They got lucky that one time.

BB, Parcells, LT, Pepper Johnson, and some unknown old Giants executive or coach (Earhardt???) outlined the strategy:

Screenshots from the clips, which showed the 90's:

    Full game:

ThNks for reminding us of a painful memory as we should’ve won.  Marv and March were too stubborn or lacked creativity to adapt and run the heck out of Thurmon.  14 for 145 yards could’ve been 300 yards had we kept running.  Then it would’ve force BB to change and the. The Kelly offense could work.

I don’t get this line of thinking.. which is very common. EVERY great coach won because of their QB… I can’t think of one GREAT HC who didn’t have a great QB with him.

    Gruden with Brad Johnson.

    Bilick with Dilfer

granted it was a long time ago, but those are two examples.

  11. Want or expect?

Want is Goff as the Lions deserve to finally win a SB.  If it can’t be us, why not the Lions.

Expect is Lamar as the Ravens look too strong for anyone in the playoffs to beat.  They’ve beaten 9 teams with winning records this year.  That’s the most of the final four.

I can almost guarantee that Beane will trade up...probably only a few picks perhaps to 25 or 26, but he simply can't resist.  And we're picking in a place where the WRs are really going to be coming off the board fast.  KC will definitely be looking to move up...

Not to correct, but clarify, we pick at 28.

It’s an unfortunate reality that Poyer and Hyde are done. They empty their tanks in Bills Red, White and Blue. I think Hyde will retire. Poyer I’m not sure yet.

That said I think the plan for next year may already be laid out with some personnel we have and a free agent acquisition. I think Rapp with be resigned and I think the improvements in Cam Lewis and a fully recovered Damar Hamlin can provide the necessary depth. I think Lewis although listed as a corner  could move into Poyer role. It will be a downgrade from 2 years ago but a sideways move from last year.

There are not many good free agents I think we could target but I do think Alohi Gilman from the Chargers could be there for the taking. He is a very good cover Saftey who is used to running the back end. He fits McDermott’s scheme and could replace Hyde and maybe provide the back end speed we lacked last year.

I also think a healthy Benford, Douglas, Johnson, White, Jackson, Elam and Neal mean  maybe shifting Elam to Saftey or one of the others could work. Neal has played Saftey but him seeing the field on D has been a scary proposition.

I also think a couple mid round picks that will hopefully contribute are necessary at both Corner, Saftey, LB and 1 Tech DT.

The gloom and doom over the defense though I think is overblown. If it looked like this to start it would be solid, if not still top 10:

    (27 players 2 or 3 on PS)

            Floyd    Jones   Oliver  Rousseau

(Lawson) (Settle) (Anjou) (Miller)    (Johnathan)(Draft-1 tech)

                     Milano       Bernard

                  (Williams)    (Spector)

                    (Draft)

    Benford          Johnson          Douglas

    (White)             (Neal)            (Jackson)

                             (Draft)

         FA-   Gilman               Rapp

                 (Hamlin)            (Lewis)

                                           (Draft)

Until we move on from Poyer, he’s still here for 1 more year.  We may keep him out of necessity as we have other needs in the draft and we have no $ whatsoever for free agents.
