  1. I don’t care at all if the Bills win by 1 pt. In the last second of the game or overtime, as long as we win!  Who cares?  McD is the winningest coach in Bills history by percentage including I believe Marv. .640.  Can you guys just give it a break?  That’s in 65 years.

That just tells me no matter what McD does, the few naysayers will never accept he’s turned this team around.

Chandman, I thought you were singing this song…

The youngins wouldn’t know this song, but it was the thing before the beloved shout song (thank god for the shout song as this was so 1980).

I know I often say it, but thanks for reminding us of the memories Chand.

I love that about you mature men (I didn’t want to say old timers).

  3. Benford.  He’s one of the elite CB’s in the league.  A 6th round pick who grabbed Elam’s spot from him, and has not disappointed at all.  We still have one of the best DB groups in the league.  Hamlin may not be the most athletic, but plays smarter than many.  Rapp is clearly more athletic, but our CB’s, Taron, Rasul, and Benford have played extremely well.

There were other good options mentioned like McGovern who have been stellar.

DM, if you dig deeper it would make you sick to think about how the Bills of the AAFL (1946-50) got screwed out of a birth in the NFL.

i believe it was also partially due to George Halas, who almost 30 years earlier screwed the Buffalo football team out of a championship in the fledgling NFL.

Good catch Donuts.  I never knew why Halas so vehemently blocked the Bills entrance into the NFL in 1949, but now it makes sense.  I know the excuse Halas used was the liquor distributor who owned the then Bills was deemed by Hal’s at the pulpit as not a financially viable owner.  It was crap and way before my time.  What peaked my interest was why Ralph was so steadfast to name the Buffalo team the Bills.

  5. Chandman, I’ll say what I always say to my Bills historian fan reminding us a bit younger guys who we are from the beginning.  Thank You!

    BILLIEVE!!!!

I can’t find it on YouTube, but Paul Giamatti tells Russel Crowe gojng into the second to the last round of the heavyweight fight against Max Blair.  “ NOW, BURY HIM”

Thats what our boys need Sunday before entering the field.  Leave nothing.  Take everything.  Just like those 64 Bills.  Thanks again Chandman.

As much as I want Davis to be a go, I am also not nearly as concerned as I would have been earlier in the season with Ty emerging into a key role now to help spell Cook.  But, with the weather this weekend, having a thumper to run the ball would be good, so fingers crossed he is a go.

agreed bud in that Ty is a nice compliment to Cook, and is a greater loss in many ways than Davis.  Davis can rest, and be ready for the Chiefs.  This is one room we have excellent depth.  They’ll get it done and Gilliam can fill in for Alec, but he’ll probably play anyway.

  7. My brother 35 years ago got himself into trouble sports betting long before it was common.  He’s a very bright sports analyst, but screwed up.  I never wanted to get into that habit, so I never bet, ever.  I have enough vices with enjoying a little pizza, steaks, or maybe a wee bit of adult pops only on weekends.

Thats enough vices.  On principle, I’d never vote against my beloved Bills.  That’s repulsive to the core.  I want to make more $, I’ll sell something else in medicine.

So I never understand this.  Why does the NFL allow a third party group of sportscasters and journalists decide who is the NFL MVP and NFL All Pro(s)??  Wouldn’t the NFL want to control that list?

I feel like each teams GM and/or Head Coach should get the votes, with a rule that you can’t vote for anyone on your own team.

this reminds me of how they used to award the college football “National Champion “.   Two polls- and coaches poll and the journalists poll.  Uhh which group do you think knew more about the best football team? The football coaches or the nerds in the press box?

at least these days, it seems like more and more former players have votes.

It is the AP, but only the AP votes on 1st team all pros.  There are a lot of other voters for the MVP.  Sal mentioned on the morning show Monday, and I know he Movin the Chains guys vote as well.

if they rob Josh again, bleep them.  The best response is beating the Ravens by 20.

    GO BILLS!

Shocker, you only have 373 posts.  We’ll win.  This isn’t week 4 where we had five defensive starters out, and no Cooper, nor throwing to our RB’s yet.

    This will be different.

As one of my favorite characters on a show called Rogue Heroes, the birth of the SAS (it’s on MGM+ and worth the watch), Patty Mayne said at the end of season,

    “NOW, the Blood Will Flow”.

Destroy them and let ever y voter for Lamar, they made a mistake!

  10. Jay, first, thank you for the all 22 cut ups.  All real Bills fans appreciate it that love the game.

Next, Dion is amazing and if Ray is out this week because of the concussion, I’m not worried with Ty.  We’re deep in that room.  I’m hopeful he’s back, but we’ll need him for the Chiefs if we win.

this line is so impressive.   It’s what we wanted for years and we have it last year and this year.  I’ll put these guys up against any defensive line.  All of them are nasty and that’s Bills football the way it’s supposed to be played.

    Remember…

MEN, WHEN ITS TOO TOUGH FOR THEM, (the crowd yells back as we all know 72,000 strong). ITS JUST RIGHT FOR US!!!!!

That’s needs to be our calling card to a team that thinks they are tough.  They don’t know Buffalonians.  They don’t know our grandfathers that worked at the steel plant,  we don’t take naps.

As Marv said, I’ll lay and bleed for awhile, but we’ll fight on our men, fight on!

This is it boys.  Beat the crap out of them.  Show them and make the Chiefs fear us.  That’s what winners do.  Stop with the fear mongering.  Fight On.

Observing the Buffalo Bills offense this year has been awesome from not only a stats standpoint, but from the eye test as well.

Our offense has been so efficient and I can think of very few plays that I thought were boneheaded calls this season. Only one off the top of my head is the trick play against the Ravens that got Josh throttled.

I think we can all agree that our most important player, Josh, has looked awesome this year. Yeah his stats are a little down, but we are winning with a more balanced approach instead of asking Josh to make magic happen every single game.

What I wonder is if we were to offer Brady a $6 million a year to be our OC and secure him in Buffalo. He’d be making a salary equivalent of the 12th highest paid HC in the NFL. I think he is absolutely perfect for Josh and this is the offense we’ve needed here for so long that has balance and effectiveness.

I realize he may want to be a HC and see if that works out for him. But curious why big deals aren’t offered to coordinators more often.

They have been done before if you have a willing owner, a HC with big pull, and can delay a promotion with cash.  I’ll give you one of the first examples when it was not normal at all.

In 2002, Jon Gruden replaced Tony Dungy as Dungy was a defensive coach, and just couldn’t get far enough in the playoffs.  So the Bucs arguably had a the best defense in the NFL back then after Wade left the Bills.  Monte Kiffin was a defensive genius with his then novel Tampa 2 as he had the right players for it.

The Glaziers who were known for being cheap once they bought Man U and poured tons of $ in that team, but they wanted a SB.  Gruden convinced the Glaziers to spend $4 mil per year on Kiffin to keep him instead of taking a HC College football job as he had offers.  He stayed and the Bucs won the SB.  It was basically in the 01 to 02 time period.  The Bucs defense remained great for several years until he followed his son and went to college as he was sick if Coach ego in Gruden.

Most people wouldn’t know this point, but I’ve lived here since 5 days prior to the Bills/Giants SB at the old sombrero.  I moved here for graduate school and stayed, built a life, and very happy I stayed here.  It’s a great place to raise kids.

So a long answer to your question and there are two positive variables.  First, the Pegulas are filthy rich at 7.7 billion.  He’s no mark Davis that looks for splash coaching hires, and second loves Buffalo. The last point is those minority owners infused a lot of cash to offset the increased new stadium costs.  They will have a jewel of a new stadium in a year and a half so it’s to his benefit to bring the Lombardy to Buffalo.

Appreciate that, and sorry for the delay is responding (I was at a powerlifting meet this weekend, and am still recovering, lol).

Somewhere on my computer, I have a list I compiled a few yers ago of all the teams overall records and inter-conference records for the 90's decade. I believe the Bills had the second-best overall record to the 49ers by only a few games and the best inter-conference record, even though they lost twice in meaningless final-week games against the NFC where they had already clinched the top seed. I'll try to find it.

As for 30 for 30, The Four Falls of Buffalo is one I have not watched. I need to buy that on Amazon Prime (it is only $1.99). Thank you for mentioning that.

You’ll enjoy it Chongli.  It’s heartwarming and heartbreaking all at the same time.

  13. I went with 21-40% for simple reasons.  We start on the highest potential for run plays with a base defense, and use Milano as a spy for Lamar.  If we are fortunate which is very possible to go up by two TD’s, then we revert much more to Nickel with Taron, but still maybe on one of the first 3 downs we use base.

On offense I can see this defense relying heavily on the RB’s and TE’s in the short passing game coupled with Cooper and Coleman on the outside.  Shakir will be busy.

If we get them one dimensional we’ll stay in our normal defense of Taron on the field.  That’s just a best guess.  We’ll find out Sunday night.  It’s a high of 8 degrees, so at nightfall it will be colder.  If we have a chance to take the field first, we should take it and hit them hard and fast.

I normally se the value in deferring when possible, but this is a unique team.  I definitely want to defer next week if we’re so fortunate and face the Chiefs, in what’s becoming the AFCCG invitational.  Their offense is suspect, so stopping them next week on the first drive makes sense, and then putting a nail in the coffin to start the 3rd quarter.

Brady, without any elite players at skilled positions other than QB, puts a lot of points on the board.  I think he's an excellent OC.  But, at the same time, I don't think he's the best at scheming routes that get outside receivers open.

Id say teams should let him marinate for a year, and let him repeat another great year.  Then we’ll lose him for sure.

For sure. The offense is clearly our calling card. It just needs to start fast and play from in front. Something we have had struggles with.

I feel good about this game today. Especially vs a rookie QB in his first ever playoff. Baltimore scares the bejeezus outta me. The margin of error will be slim.

You know what, I'd rather just focus on today. There are no givens. GO BILLS!!!

It won't be enough. We'll need to play turnover free, start fast and score TDs. Lots and lots of TDs. It can be done.

Considering we avg. 30.9 pts. Per game, 2nd in the NFL, and won by 20 or more pts. 8 times, and another by 10.  We’ve also beaten the world champs, and the hottest team in the NFL this year (Lions).

Lastly, we have the best turnover differential in the league at +24.

Were favored by 8.5 pts.  I know you’re trying to be positive, but it’s apparent like so many Bills fans (real Bills fans and you are) are nervous.

As dark retreat idiot from now NY states, R-E-L-A-X.  It’s going to be ok, bud.  I have faith and BILLIEVE!

And yet the Bills completely dominated the NFC teams in the 90's, having the best IIRC (or second best?) inter-conference record of any team.

We might have had a 17-year playoff drought, but we made up for that in the 90's and today.

Good call Chongli.  If you saw the 30 for 30 on the Bills, Polian clearly pointed out our record against NFC AND NFC playoff teams, and it was damning if the NFC back in the Kelly days.

As.far as now, the AFC was overblown this year, and th Eagles, Lions, and Vikings are no joke.  We have the Bills, Chiefs, and Ravens.  To me that’s an even comparison.

  18. My 94 yr. Old dad is teaching my Chinese wife (I only bring up as she has lived here 9 years, but still learning really traditional old fashioned American family meals) Beef Stew.  He makes in a crockpot for 5-6 hours so tomorrow is cooking class before I take my gal to see Den of Thieves and then a holiday dinner as my kids bought us some gift cards. Anyway, we’ll have a huge pot of awesome Beef Stew with tons of garlic and tomato sauce in tot for flavor.  I’ll probably eat it three times Sunday.

So a long answer to a short question.  BEEF STEW.  You can’t take the Irish Catholic Southtowns boy out of me even though I’ve lived in Tampa longer than Buffalo.  Not that I don’t love sushi, Mexican, and lots of other options, but I’m a hopeless meat and potatoes kind of guy.  My dad doesn’t cook healthy, but damn it tastes good.

Im glad you guys will have fun.  Everyone deserves to eat as Josh states.

BTW- I’ll pretend the beef is horse meat as I’d never eat for real.
