I would be surprised if he led the team in sacks, but I do agree he's primed for a breakout year. He certainly doesn't have the sheer athleticism of Rousseau, but he is extremely coordinated, and has, I think, a remarkable ability to throw opponents off balance. Also, at least towards the end of last season, for someone whose knock was that he was slow, he sure looked pretty fast.

Efe Obada's going to surprise a lot of people. Maybe not the sack leader, but I have a feeling he's going to be one of those players that comes to Buffalo, and thrives.

Mick Foley was a professional wrestler, and quite possibly the toughest athlete to ever live, at least in terms of putting his body on the line, and performing through pain. There's a great documentary called "Beyond the Mat," that I think you can see on Netflix. Even if you're not at all a fan of pro wrestling (I'm not), it's a really good watch.

In fact, there are metrics for measuring freedom, the most respected being the Human Freedom Index sponsored by the Cato Institute, and others. (The Cato Institute was founded by Charles Koch, fo anyone wanting to cry "liberal.") Currently, the United States ranks 17th.

Honestly, the back and forth on this topic is astonishing. Especially cringeworthy are the reliance on some clearly bogus polls, and blatantly irrelevant straw man arguments about other “offensive” team names. The National Congress of American Indians, founded in 1944, and headquartered in Washington DC, is the oldest, largest, and most representative American Indian and Alaska Native organization there is. They represent 573 member tribes. They are the same organization that produced the commercial advocating for the Redskins name change at the Super Bowl several years ago. I don’t know. Lines like (for the Patriots*): “Your 2018 record: 11-5. A Super Bowl victory that was about as entertaining as watching a feather-haired old man get a handjob,” I thought really rang true for pretty much all the fans of 31 other teams, and probably about 85% of Pats* fans (if they’re being honest with themselves— an unlikely scenario, I know…). But, what I always appreciated about that annual series, and DeadSpin in general, was that whatever they were writing, whether you agreed with them, or not, you could see that they were indeed paying attention. Lines like: “Peterman is no longer with this team and no longer free to nestle down and get all cuddly in the dog bed Sean McDermott provided for him,” really show me that Drew Magary, the author of that series, gets it. I can not even imagine trying to keep track of the number of national sports pundits— people who get paid a lot of money to cover NFL football for large market news outlets— whose articles I read about the Bills that rely on tired, old assumptions that those who have been paying attention know are no longer relevant. “Listen man, all you need to know about the Bills in 2018 is that they signed Vontae Davis to a free agent deal before the season and then the man realized, right in the middle of a Week 2 game, that he didn’t feel like playing football ever again. That’s what happens to people when they arrive in Buffalo. They land at the airport, survey the frozen and windswept barrens, hear “Name” playing on a loop at the local wing joint, and instinctively want to flee.” No, I don’t agree with it. But, I can’t read that and not laugh.

I hope there is a tailgate. But I hope it is better organized (or perhaps less organized?) than last year's Rams game, in which we paid $$, and went through a security checkpoint for the privilege to stand in the single longest beer line I have ever encountered. It was organized by the Bills Backers club which meets at a spot in Santa Monica called Buzby's. Great bunch of people. Very comforting, as a transplanted Western NYer, to be around other Western NYers. But, if it's another $45 ticket for a gargantuan beer line, and food trucks, I'll likely pass. Hopefully, people take advantage of this thread and organizing something smaller, and more clandestine. The game was a blast, though. About 20% Bills fans in attendance, but still drowned out the Rams fans. Bills players afterward tweeted that it felt like a home game. I imagine that the Chargers game is going to get pretty expensive. Stubhub only holds 29,000 people, and is MUCH nicer than Olympic Stadium, and LA Chargers fans are already more established than Rams fans due to the proximity to San Diego. I think your best bet (if you don't already have a source for tickets) is to find someone with season tickets who only wants to recoup the cost of a game they are planning to miss. I was lucky to have a friend in that position. You can find such people on Stubhub-- but I'd start looking now.

Yeah, :3rdand12 is one of my favorites, as well. Also, Yolo, of course. And Bill from NYC. And 26cornerblitz. I've learned a lot from all of these dudes. I've also always appreciated the debate style of No Saint and others. And, honestly, I am very appreciative of some of the more contentious (to use a polite word) posters who help to keep this place lively. This site is pure gold. I've been trying, lately (and generally failing) to get myself into being a Rams fan. I live in LA, and both my kids were born here, so I've been going onto some Rams fan sites. Joseph, I haven't found a fan site here, or for any other team with as high an average football IQ as this one. Cheers to you all!

If Donald Trump wins the presidency, he is going to remove the NFL's anti-trust immunity by executive order, and blackmail Goodell, and all the owners with the threat of RICO crimes. At the end of his term, he will decline running for re-election, and instead take over as commissioner of the NFL. Within two years of that time, he will have changed his title from "commissioner" to "Don." It will all be downhill from there. Bon Jovi will be his second in command, and the Bills will be moved up to Northern Canada. They will be called the "Hudson Bay Moose." Out of spite.
